I know FIFA and Russia and whoever is involved is horrible in some way... But it's the actual World Cup. Mexico v South Korea suddenly becomes hugely important to my life! England have a likeable squad and manager. Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar. Spain sacking their manager yesterday.

It's so exciting isn't it!

Why the face, Costa? You insist they’re overpaid, so surely it’s better they’re doing something positive with that money.

I mean, what would be preferable, in your opinion?

And a great number of footballers do a huge amount for charities.

I’m sure you give every penny you don’t strictly need to charity. Wink

It's always underestimated how much tax Premier League and Championship players pay into the coffers. It's a veritable fortune.

I hate the World cup season. I miss Casualty and Holby City. There are 6 million sports channels PUT IT ON ONE OF THEM AND LEAVE MY BBC ALONE.

As multi millionaires I would expect them to give their fees to charity, nothing to pat them on the back for

You have no idea what I do for charity, and would probably be quite surprised, but actually not many people do know. It’s best done privately

And none of them have ever been associated with any tax fraud or evasion schemes Hmm

This is the World Cup Thread - A thread for celebration, I shall reply to all unnecessarily negative comments with the word: VINDALOO

Love the World Cup, but Robbie Williams (and random lady singing with him) is well past his best. Reminds me of Piers Morgan.

I am loving RW and Meghan Markle's sing song here.

Costacoffee no I have no idea and therefore no surprise either way.

Yeah, premiership players get paid a lot. But so do lots of people. Do you hate films and tv cos actors are highly paid?

Meghan Markle is there!? (I'm at work and can't see anything)

Rpbbie Williams looked great and sounded great IMO. The woman he was singing with looked like MM, but I believe she is on a train with the Queen oop North currently so it must have been someone famous we don't know. Grin

Oh I’ve ballsed it up already. I thought I recognised a player as Mo Salah then misheard ‘Saudi’ as ‘Salah’ so announced ‘good to see Mo is recovering from the shoulder injury’.

Had my first Hmm from DS.

Getting into football is like starting to watch a drama at season 10. No fecking clue who’s who and feel like I’ve missed out on several decades of backstory.

Thanks Sparkling It's quite a leap for the lad. Appearing on Loose Women (with his annoying wife) one week to singing at the World Cup the next.

Just in the door and telly on. Glad to find there's a World Cup thread started already!
I listened to Baddiel and Skinner's Three Lions song earlier to get into the swing of things.

Fudge- they sung ‘30 years of hurt’ in the original 3 lions song. Now it’s 52 years of hurt! Best to mumble that bit. Great song though.
Love Vindaloo as well- happy days.
Is there an official song for this year?

FFS.

Do you think Poland isn't talking about Poland? Germany about Germany? You're looking to be offended so just go away.

Oh do try not to be so silly.🙄
