I know FIFA and Russia and whoever is involved is horrible in some way... But it's the actual World Cup. Mexico v South Korea suddenly becomes hugely important to my life! England have a likeable squad and manager. Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar. Spain sacking their manager yesterday.

It's so exciting isn't it!

What a goal!

ToffeeUp · 17/06/2018 19:24

A beauty!

LapsedHumanist · 17/06/2018 19:40

I love Marcelo.

Used to think he was overrated, but he absolutely blossomed under Zidane.

TornFromTheInside · 17/06/2018 20:08

Well, well, well...

ToffeeUp · 17/06/2018 20:10

Poor defending, game on

user1471517900 · 17/06/2018 20:39

This is ruining my prediction game at work!

But it's great fun. Neymar has ridiculous hair at the moment.

Can see Switzerland nicking this

BitchQueen90 · 17/06/2018 20:51

What a day! Switzerland should be proud of themselves with this result.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/06/2018 20:59

How disappointing to see Brazil diving, faking and cheating all the way through. Neymar was ineffectual and Brazil seemed to only have one plan: pass to neymar. And he was the worst offender at diving and play acting. Well done Switzerland

TornFromTheInside · 17/06/2018 21:00

Next set of games will be very intense - it could see some big names going out. Fantastic set of results for the neutrals.

I do suspect the likes of Argentina, Brazil and Germany will step up their game, but could make for some serious nerves if these teams aren't winning.

Starting to enjoy this world cup now, and it's the first time I've felt complete disenfranchised from it.

TornFromTheInside · 17/06/2018 21:01

hear hear - falling over for fun.

TornFromTheInside · 17/06/2018 21:02

hahaha Slavan Bilic...

'To be honest, I don't care' haha

alibongo5 · 17/06/2018 21:06

Neymar was terrible - in both his play, attitude and conduct. Brazil were underwhelming and both they and Germany will have to improve if they want to get out of the group let alone win the tournament.

ToffeeUp · 17/06/2018 21:14

Good on Switzerland. I thought Brazil looked dangerous the first half but didn't show up in the second. Neymar was embarrassing, he deserved a yellow card for his rolling around in agony act.

Oblomov18 · 17/06/2018 21:17

Bilic - I don't care! Grin
Neymar was embarrassing. Oscar worthy!

Littletreefrog · 17/06/2018 21:25

Neymar is embarrassing. Couldn't stay on his feet at all.

ForalltheSaints · 17/06/2018 21:53

I thought Gabriel Jesus should have had the number 12 shirt.

user764329056 · 17/06/2018 21:56

Iceland and Switzerland have shone this weekend

LeahJack · 17/06/2018 23:11

It’s getting VERY exciting now. Really shaken it up today.

Iceland v Argentina quite an interesting result too.

Mind you, knowing our luck the shake up will continue with 3-0 to Panama tomorrow. Hmm

The80sweregreat · 18/06/2018 06:47

any predictions for tonight's game? ~
The only player i hear about is Harry Kane and how young the side is. No idea about Tunisia at all ( i cant imagine they are a pushover )

Southgate looks a level headed sort of manager, but i still think they might struggle with all the matches, but i am a born pessimist when it comes to our national side.

user1471517900 · 18/06/2018 07:02

England should win. But maybe by only one goal. I am excited by the attack. Lingard, Sterling, Alli, Rashford all behind Kane/Hardy. It's an exciting front line.

Just hope our young keeper has a good game too.

The Switzerland Brazil result wasn't really a surprise / shake up. Switzerland are ranked 6th in the world so they're not exactly minnows.

WhiteHartLane · 18/06/2018 09:21

I think England will win but by a tight margin. Tunisia are currently the highest ranked team in Africa and 14th in world rankings just under England.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/06/2018 09:50

I will be on a plane during the match. Probably the only place in the world it's not possible to watch or listen Angry

ToffeeUp · 18/06/2018 10:29

I have drawn Tunisia in the sweepstake but am going for an England win, 2-0

Pickford will be sound, he is young and still has a lot to improve but he has worked his way up via the lower leagues and is mentally strong. Plus he is used to playing with a less than convincing defence Grin
I think both Butland and Pope will do well too.
