To ask you all just HOW painful is a Brazilian wax?! (and other questions)

So, after 10 years of trimming my lady garden, I'm considering trying a bikini wax for the first time out of curiosity (I don't shave down there because I get ingrown hairs). I have a few questions...
How bad is the pain - both initial and the aftermath?! Like on a scale of 1 - 10?
How long does it take for the hair to grow back?
If you get it done regularly, does the hair eventually stop growing back?
Any bikini wax tips/funny stories/horror stories?

That sounds horrible and like they didn't know what they were doing - that's how I feel about this, apart from I felt frustrated I'd paid a lot of money at the time to have it (it was a few years ago) and it ended up like that. The problem was from her going over and over the same area - basically she didn't really seem to know what she was doing and that combined with me bruising easily was too much.

This thread just inspired me to have my first one in 2 years! Hardly hurt at all and I feel very happy with my smooth self now.
