To be fed up of female pop stars always performing in pants/leotards?

Ok I know a woman can wear whatever she wants, but why does it seem mandatory for female artists to wear nothing but pants/variations thereof on their bottom half?! Confused

Because women being viewed. That should be women's bodies being viewed...

also to the person that said it was worried for 6 year olds to see Taylor Swift having a different boyfriend from one week to the next and where are peoples morals?
That is literally the most misogynistic thing I have heard on here for a long time.
Why in the fuck should that woman not have boyfriends and why has that got anything to do with morality?

For those talking about gymnastics, I actually think female gymnastics is almost as sexist as you can get.

My DD was county & UK region level from 11 until 19 - they were not allowed to wear knickers under competition leotards, had to remove pubic hair as leotards were high cut, had to have full make up and GLITTER hair to compete (don't get me started on the bloody bows) and got MARKS OFF if a bra strap happened to show mid-routine.

Not shorts or footless tights allowed - British Gymnastics rules.

The men? unitards or vest & shorts. not a glitter bow in sight.

Check out this picture of British Team having to reapply their lipstick mid apparatus.
These women are ELITE ATHLETES, for gods sake.

I thought TS looked amazing! I imagine it's easier and cooler to move about in when running/dancing on stage with those lights blasting down on you anyway. She had tights on too🤷🏼‍♀️

That is awful bbc. I retract my - pages ago - statement about gymnasts and everyone wearing leotards...

I also imagine TS DOES have the final say on what she wears. Even as a teenager she refused to sign with a company who didn't want her recording her own songs and held out for someone who would support her in writing her own material. She's very outspoken about who uses her material too like pulling out from Spotify because she thought their pay was degrading to artists as it was so low. If anything I find it sadder that people would choose to overlook these displays of strength and instead look down on her choice of clothing and to focus on that instead.

Little Mix, I'm talking about you!

Their target audience isn’t teenage girls.

I would say it is. Their concerts aren't full of teenage boys or adult men.

Just because little girls go to LM concerts down mean LM target audience is little girls. A lot of their songs are about sex, or sexuality.

If little girls are going to LM concerts where the songs/dance routines/costumes aren’t necessary appropriate for that age group, then that’s an issue for the parents of the little girls who are allowing them to go. LM shouldn’t have to censor themselves. They’re women in their mid-20s, not teenagers.

@bbcessex I am horrified at that.

If that was more widely known do you think there could be change? We don't expect that of any other female athlete do we? (except perhaps beach volleyball?)

Not allowed knickers and doing handstands with split legs? I feel sorry for the poor female gymnasts, it's not right.

Bra strap / underwear deduction is common in the sport, NannyOgg it's classfied as 'distraction' Hmm

The thing is, all the male artists wear masses of clothing. I was watching a Wkend (sp?!) video (or maybe Jason De wotsit...) and he was wearing a large puffa coat and boots, whilst many scantily-clad young women desported themselves around and over him. Now that to me is shocking in this day and age. Why is pop music immune from such sexism?

I don’t think looking great depends on your clothes

Maybe you don’t but some women enjoy getting dressed up and that makes them feel empowered, like it or not.

These pop stars are comfortable in their clothing and their bodies-how is that NOT a good message to send out?

So many teens are so busy hiding themselves because they feel fat, covering self harm scars and I guess you just want them to grow up hiding into their adult selves not daring wearing a bikini because some women say we should cover the fuck up? We’re made to feel like showing a bit of skin is wrong now?

Jesy in particular is not your average “pint sized skinny” pop star so standing on stage in little outfits really promotes body confidence.

Let me tell you I’m in a job where we wear just as little if not less, than the little mix girls. To see those girls find peace with their bodies and no shame is fucking incredible.

You can pick at my posts however you want , but to see women being shamed for wearing little clothes really rips my knitting. The Little Mix ladies adore their outfit choices and have a huge say in what they wear, not to sell themselves, but because they bloody love it

I remember watching them on their X Factor days and Jesy crying because there were cunts online calling her fat and ugly, so she wore quite baggy clothing. I think it's great that she's now confident enough in her body to show some skin.

To be fair Little Mix were very young on XFacter days and 7 years later they have grown up. They dance a lot, do not know why its a problem wearing leotards etc, both my daughters dance and wear similar outfits. Ive seen Little Mix on the Glory Days Tour and they were fantastic live!

This isn't a new thing, even the Georgians padded their butts and pushed up their breasts and squeezed their corsets as much as they could.

Taylor might show a bit of thigh but she never has her breasts out, and if the thighs are out a lot of the rest of her is covered.

The media and public slated her for not bring sexy, every dailyfail article was full of comments saying how she wasn't sexy, body of a boy, flat ass. She can't do right for doing wrong.

Her audience has grown up, so has she. Yes there are still young girls who have recently found TS however, she is trying to reach that wider audience.

This latest tour and album is basically her saying fuck everyone, I am going to be me.
She is in charge of everything too, her father owns some of Big machine her label and she choices everything herself or at least passes decisions.

I think she is brilliant and very normal in the grand scheme of things, she's made mistakes and always acknowledges them and takes the piss out herself.

Someone mentioned her multiple boyfriends. She also has been with the same guy since May 2016. Listen to the lyrics of her song Dress, and look at the pics from the Met gala 2016.

We've all dated around unfortunately for her the world gets to pass comment on her love life. We've all dated, worked with someone or walked around a city with someone, it doesn't mean we've we have slept with them all.
