AIBU, cheeky fuckers - a holiday edition

On holiday with all my DC (5 of them), ages 15-3. Single parent. So a busmans holiday really.

2 days ago kids came back trailing another random kid. Happens every year, always kids with no siblings. No problem in theory, 5 kids 6 kids doesn’t make much difference. Then kid would NOT go away. Knocking on the chalet door at 8am, (parents smiling and waving from their decking) 😒, we left for the beach at 10am. An hr later kid turns up with his parents. They sit 50ms away and kid comes over to play.

So now in effect I’m watching their kid plus mine as they sunbathe and read all day. Sent him back at lunch. He comes back the second we stop eating. I send all kids over to his side to play. Mum then brings them back as her husband is asleep!

Again same thing today, kid came to the pool. Didn’t see his parents all day as presumably I’m supervising him? Asked him if his parents knew where he was, he said yes. I went back to his chalet (left teens watching kids) and asked them if they knew where he was. Parents sunning themselves on their deck. Mother at least had the good sense to look embarrassed and said ‘oh he’s loved playing with your lot, send him back if it gets too much’ WTF?! I kind of laughed and said well there is a lot of them, not sure I can supervise him too! She said oh he’s a brilliant swimmer don’t worry

Just finished dinner and he rocks up and starts playing outside with the younger ones. Got ice creams from the shop and couldn’t leave him out as he went with them. I can see the CFs sat two decks over drinking wine and reading.

AIBU to send all kids over there and lock my door for an hour 🤔. How long before they send them back do you reckon?

id send all of your dc over to them, then sit on your deck drinking wine and sunbathing.

UpstartCrow · 27/05/2018 19:28

And don't forget to wave cheerily.

londonrach · 27/05/2018 19:29

Your dc go over there with a long board game like monopoly and you sit on your deck with wine

HolidayCF · 27/05/2018 19:30

Teens refusing to go, am sending youngest three

Ohcomeonn · 27/05/2018 19:31

wizzywig · 27/05/2018 19:32

This reminds me of that epic tale of the caravvaning couple who were stalked by another couple and had to leave under the campsiite in the middle of the night (headlights off, car in neutral)

Aprilmightbemynewname · 27/05/2018 19:33

Print them off your cm costs. ...

Thehop · 27/05/2018 19:33

“Back to mummy now mate were having family time”

HolidayCF · 27/05/2018 19:35

Thehop, tried that at the beach. He sat there staring over until last mouthful was eaten and then wandered back.

Kids have gone over, can see through the trees. Dad not looked up from his book yet. Mum engaging in polite convo

Just tell them you don't want their kid around.

Hortonlovesahoo · 27/05/2018 19:36

I’d be sending him back with the message: that’s it for today, we’re going to do things together.

Flyme21 · 27/05/2018 19:40

If she brings yours back as she did before why do you need to be polite about it? Just say something like "I thought it was your turn to be childminder. Obviously not, but don't expect me to look after yours any more". Apart from anything else, if he was involved in an accident you can only guess at how they would react.

Flyme21 · 27/05/2018 19:41

Not like they are anything to you is it? Just a random pair of CF's who think you have mug written across your forehead. Smile

honeysucklejasmine · 27/05/2018 19:43

Oh gosh, you should have told them enough was enough when you went to find them.

OMGtwins · 27/05/2018 19:43

Tell the parents, without the kid around, that he's welcome only if invited, or only for half a day (or whatever unit of time you prefer) or tell them the evening before you do something that it's family only time.

Or better, tell them that for all the time he spends with your kids, you'll send all of them back to them to look after for the same amount of time 😆😆

Poor kid, he does need people to play with, but you're not a babysitter and you're likely not the only family with kids his sort of age either. Makes me wonder if they've thought about how to entertain him properly on holiday or they just expect him to outstay his welcome with other families so they can have free childcare.

HolidayCF · 27/05/2018 19:44

They’re back. Family next door to them has a baby who’s sleeping and mum is concerned about noise

OP posts:
AHobbyaweek · 27/05/2018 19:45

Hope the other child has not come back with you dcs

UpstartCrow · 27/05/2018 19:45

Throw a loaf of bread on their roof every night so they are woken by squabbling seagulls.

HolidayCF · 27/05/2018 19:46

If kids are playing outside I can hardly tell him to bugger off (and wouldn’t be that unkind to a kid who’s clearly bored)

Don’t think parents have thought at all what they would do to entertain him all week!

He said they usually go on holiday with cousins etc

mumonashoestring · 27/05/2018 19:47

Blimey. Any shops nearby? I'd be buying them all penny whistles or vuvuzelas before sending them back to his parents' chalet.

HolidayCF · 27/05/2018 19:47

Yes he’s come back with them. It’s still light outside so I’m not going to make mine come in so he has to go home

OP posts:
ApolloandDaphne · 27/05/2018 19:48

Just yours or has their DS come back with them?

Parentingissotough · 27/05/2018 19:48

Presumably without the other kid though?

ApolloandDaphne · 27/05/2018 19:48

Ah cross post, sorry.
