I wouldn't curtsy to ant of them tbh. She is apparently allowed to insist on this now.

Why can't mumsnet engage in any lighthearted fun....not a racist thread at all.

Ridiculous gay royal wedding fun anyone?

I wouldn't curtsy to anyone. What have any of them ever done to deserve it?
When Zara Phillips was heavily pregnant with Mia, I remember seeing a photo where she had to curtsy to the queen. Her own grandmother ffs! If there was one thing that made me realise how much of an outdated institution the monarchy is, that was it for sure.

I was taught to curtsey to older relatives growing up GrinHmm and my brother to bow GrinGrinGrin

I'm sure it was quite cute when little children did that, me in my pigtails and all.

Now, I'd just feel daft. And I suspect so would Meghan, Duchess of Whatever or not.

@LucilleBluth

The question is, would you bow to the REST of the Royal Family? Because Meghan IS a member of the ROYAL FAMILY, whether you like it or not.

If you wouldn't, then that's fine, that is up to you, but then why single out MEGHAN? Hmmmm?

If you WOULD bow or curtsy to the others but not her, then WHY? WHY would you not bow or curtsy to her?

Why does it upset and anger you so much that Meghan is a member of the Royal family now? Jealous are you? Bitter? Angry? I think you are... Wink

You must be full of anger because you sound so unpleasant and fucking rude. I pity you. You sound so angry and full of hate and bile.

Must suck to be you.

Oh and don't worry, someone like you will never get to meet someone like Meghan. She is way out of your league, and WAY above you, in every way.

UpperWallop The Ikea nursery section isn’t impossible, given William and Kate apparently have / had Ikea stuff in their children’s bedrooms...

I probably would, just for funsies. It's not often you get to do a funny little bobbit up and down gesture. And if want to see if I could pull it off without falling over.

I would make a faintly menacing Oriental bow.

I’d curtsy to the queen and the pope.

I’d curtsy to him too.

Yes to the queen and all in direct line to the throne. No to the others (my hips and knees say no to them all)

I wouldn't curtsy to anyone and am always amazed to see anyone outside of the immediate royal family (who have skin in the game in fairness) do it - even the english.

No one can insist on a curtsy. What would happen? Alice In Wonderland type soldiers march in and shout "off with her head!"

She says that she is a hugger - I'm a hugger - I suppose we'd hug.

Oh UserV, she's the newest and most Hollywood member that's why the thread is about her.

You're mental.

I'd curtsy to the Queen. Tbh I'd probably curtsy to Meghan if it was an official meeting, but not if I bumped into her in New Look. Same goes for everyone except the Queen.

LighthouseSouth · 22/05/2018 23:14

Why ask specifically about her?

I've met some of them through charity work, didn't seem to be any expectation of anything other than a handshake. has anyone seriously done a curtsy ( sounds rude, lol) for a Royal? OMD that autocorrected to capital R. World is mad.

I have met two members of the Royal Family through work events. We were all briefed on the etiquette beforehand on both occasions, but I do not believe in the monarchy so chose not to observe any of the formalities. Neither of the royals seemed remotely bothered by this, and despite my republican leanings, I do have to acknowledge that they were both absolutely charming.

I very much doubt that they care whether or not anyone curtseys.

I wouldn’t curtesy to Meghan or indeed any of them. Well maybe the queen but more likely the head bob mentioned above. Not sure what to call them either which may be a very real dilemma for me in September (education related).
Wasn’t that long ago that they used to curtesy when leaving the centre court at Wimbledon if there was a royal in situ. Seems a bit daft now.

Do you really think she is going to expect that? I think she may surprise us all and this may be one of the things she will not expect or implement of she is allowed to , let's hope .
