Would you curtsy to Meghan?

I wouldn't curtsy to ant of them tbh. She is apparently allowed to insist on this now.

ScattyCharly · 22/05/2018 22:45

Well I would. She seems nice and it doesn’t cost anything or hurt me.

ShirleyPhallus · 22/05/2018 22:45

I am hoping this Meghan-specific hate isn't entrenched in racism or sexism, as people don't seem to bother to be annoyed by the many many royals who came along before Meghan

I dunno, everyone was pretty fucking awful about “jobless, waity-Katie” until Meghan came along and then suddenly she was up there with Saint Diana

Tessliketrees · 22/05/2018 22:46

MrsTerryPratchett

Me! When I typed "curtsied" I was half convinced it wasn't a word.

DaphneFanshaw · 22/05/2018 22:46

Nope, most definitely wouldn’t do it. Like everyone else I wouldn’t curtsy at, to (what ever the right word is) anyone.

Rainydaydog · 22/05/2018 22:46

I don't really know how to curtsey. But if I meet Meghan I will do a weird impression of someone from Downton Abbey and call her Ma'am to rhyme with ham (naice ham obvs).

postcardsfrom · 22/05/2018 22:47

No, and I wouldn’t curtsy to the Queen either. I mean, what the F?? I shake their hands because I consider myself equal, not beneath in some way.

crazycatgal · 22/05/2018 22:47

I wouldn't curtsy to anyone.

I do like Meghan though.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 22/05/2018 22:47

And to answer your question - I can't imagine Meghan would come up to me in the street and say 'curtsy, peasant'. If I was to meet her it would be through a charitable cause, community event or work-related event, like they do when they have official visits. So to keep in the spirit of getting good publicity/awareness for said charity/community/work, yes I would swallow my pride and follow protocols, which may mean curtsying. Because there are bigger and more important things than me and I wouldn't embarrass myself or anyone else-- by blatantly refusing because I'm not weird--

FWIW I have met Princess Anne and Prince Charles through work and charity cents and wasn't expected to curtsy to either. Nor did they insist it

SaltireSaltire · 22/05/2018 22:47

Wouldn't curtesy to anybody ~ a ridiculous gesture of subservience (that royals call protocol 😂😂).

Tessliketrees · 22/05/2018 22:47

I am hoping this Meghan-specific hate isn't entrenched in racism or sexism

Your hope is futile, it absolutely is.

IamPickleRick · 22/05/2018 22:47

A curtesy is a massive fart risk for me so on balance, no Grin

Mousefunky · 22/05/2018 22:47

You wouldn’t catch me curtsying to anyone either.

@cherrychasingdotmuncher

Probably not so much hatred coz of racism with some people - as much as the fact she is a Hollywood star! A lot of bitterness and jealousy coming from a lot of people, especially women...

As I said, trying to make out Meghan is INSISTING people curtsy in front of her is bullshit. No way will she ever do that, and the OP is clearly just bitching about Meghan coz she has an agenda, and a problem with her.

GalwayWayfarer · 22/05/2018 22:48

I wouldn't curtsy to anyone, but I don't have any more issue with her insisting on it than any other royal. It's all the same to me.

itsbetterthanabox · 22/05/2018 22:48

I mean if I were to curtsy to a royal then yes I would but I wouldn't curtsy to a royal. It's not about her specifically.

RosaRosaRose · 22/05/2018 22:48

Ffs. Get a grip.

SequinsOnEverything · 22/05/2018 22:48

I would. But I like her and I like curtseying (?spelling).

I'd only do it if it was a formal occasion, not if I saw her in the street or something.

Bluelady · 22/05/2018 22:49

Should I be fortunate enough to meet her I'd definitely attempt to curtsy to her. She's a royal duchess, it's an acknowledgment of her rank.

LucilleBluth · 22/05/2018 22:51

ShatnersBassoon I love that. I didn't say that she has insisted, I just read it on a gay celebrity gossip forum that I frequent...the consensus over there is hell no 😀

I can imagine that someone idiots would though.

No Grin

LucilleBluth · 22/05/2018 22:52

Certainly nothing to do with her race however much people may want it to be.

OP posts:
ILikeyourHairyHands · 22/05/2018 22:52

Speaking about mad racist shite, Sheffield City Council now has a 28 year-old Somalian Mayor. The amount of racist abuse I've seen online is very telling And quite deranged.

I've actually been surprised by it.

postcardsfrom · 22/05/2018 22:52

You know what though, I can imagine her being absolutely f-ing embarrassed by people doing a curtsy in front of her so here’s hoping this ridiculous obsequiousness and deference to some rich people ends with the Queen.

cheesecheesecheeseplease · 22/05/2018 22:53

I just tried curtsying (sp?) to DP for a larf and BUGGER ME has it ruined my knees or what Confused
