To ask why there's so much hate for Meghan?

Curious as to why there seems to be so much negativity towards her? I genuinely know nothing about her.

Is it just jealousy?

OP. Are you a journalist?

Actually I think the coverage about Meghan has been overwhelmingly positive. You are trying to make an issue out of very little.

Her past gives the impression that she’s a social climber - ready to step on anyone and everyone to get where she wants.

Where is this evidence that she "stepped on" anyone?

I don't think anyone can really claim to be surprised at this point that she distanced herself from most of her family. I have from mine, and it's not that I'm a terrible person, it's that they are toxic people who don't add anything positive to my life.

Ex husband? Again, I have an ex. I didn't divorce him as a social climbing move, the marriage just wasn't working. (And as with Meghan's family, the ex is also happy to profit from his relationship with her with the sitcom he helped write.)

I assume the implication - and we had the same with Kate - is that she deliberately put herself in Harry's social circle to meet him. And if so - so what? I imagine he and his friends are very used to that. She didn't twist his arm to marry her. She was friends with a mutual friend of his, one he actually asked to set him up with someone.

He was never going to pluck some virginal spotlight-avoiding little Diana 2.0 from a dusty bookshop or wherever she'd be hiding. And if he had she'd probably have had her first nervous breakdown by now.

It looks like Harry not only chose someone he likes and is attracted to, but sensibly someone who can handle public life, even with the added elements of hate thrown her way that the likes of Cressida/Chelsy wouldn't have had to deal with...

There’s some proper cranks on this thread.

Have you read Mumsnet over the last week?

Carycach100 · 20/05/2018 13:10

Most of the 'hate' i have seen has come from her own family!

quencher · 20/05/2018 13:12

This thread is the funniest thing.

Have you read MN in recent weeks?

Are you always fixated on skin colour? Because those who are, are the ones who can be accused of racism.
Eh?

Notmyrealname85 · 20/05/2018 13:25

Ok now I do sound like a crank... can I ask a genuin question about the wedding? I didn’t watch it tbh Blush

Who of Harry’s friends went? I just remembered that one guy in particular who actually may have been called Guy.. like an old school friend?

It’s more that I imagined he’d have a core group of like five friends who he’s really tight with, I just always assumed that.

This isn’t a dig at him or Meghan, I just realised I haven’t seen a pic of those friends I assumed he had, maybe I missed them?

Notmyrealname85 · 20/05/2018 13:26

My theory being that maybe they did a smaller wedding that was their real wedding :)

MorrisZapp · 20/05/2018 13:51

What would Prince Harry going on a blind date even look like?

C8H10N4O2 · 20/05/2018 13:52

I assumed he had, maybe I missed them?

I assumed that the media were focusing on the couple of dozen big celebs and the Royals. Like they always do. Why on earth would anyone assume that private, non celeb friends were not there?

Notmyrealname85 · 20/05/2018 14:21

Just because the media have pointed them out before (eg the Guy guy), but didn’t yesterday - they pointed out other aristos too so they know what they look like
