To ask why there's so much hate for Meghan?

Curious as to why there seems to be so much negativity towards her? I genuinely know nothing about her.

Is it just jealousy?

I thought the whole event was amazing.
She walked down the aisle alone and when Prince Charles took her arm I saw it him welcoming her to the family.
Not giving her away.
I think she looked stunning and I hope they are very happy

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:49

Ok Ghana - that’s not appropriate at all. No need to resort to personal attacks/bullying behaviour. Debate nicely - don’t be an ass.

Singlenotsingle · 19/05/2018 22:50

I think the word 'hate' is so mis-used. I'm sure nobody hates anyone, Meghan or anyone else! My thoughts on watching the wedding were that she looked lovely in that dress. It was elegant and sleek (but how could it possibly be worth £200k, which is apparently what it cost). I loved the Queen's outfit, and Kate's, and thought the children looked sweet. No hate...

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:50

Soup - traditions merge and change over time. They don’t ask that anymore (usually) instead the walking down the aisle is seen as the ‘giving away’.

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2018 22:50

What SoupDragon said. Kate was given away when she married William. Meghan was not given away.

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:51

Preston -yes could be seen like that. I thought Charles did well to step in and it showed character from him to do that.

PickAChew · 19/05/2018 22:52

There have been some awful threads about her on here but thankfully they're not still around.

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2018 22:53

No, it is not. I was married 30 years ago in the Episcopal Church in the US. My father walked me down the aisle, but I requested that that giving away part be eliminated from the service.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the giving away still an option in the C of E. It was done at Kate and William's wedding which wasn't that long ago.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2018 22:54

Only in your head.

Ass or Arse? As the former is an American term, like MM the woman you seem determined to despise for being herself ie mixed race and American ...

AskAuntLydia · 19/05/2018 23:03

Harry has grown up in front of all of us without his mum. This has endeared him to many and so, probably, any wife he chose would be met with caution as many won’t want to see him get hurt/go through another media circus.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?

You don't know this bloke at all and yet you've set yourself up as the protective mother-in-law from hell by proxy, presumably because you haven't got a more interesting hobby and your own DS hasn't yet reached the age where he can meet someone you can disapprove of IRL?

Jesus what goes on in people's heads.

I admit to having reservations about Meghan, but as PP have said, maybe it's just not being used to her confidence. Harry certainly looks besotted but time will tell.

Harry seems happy now you can rest...

FreeMantle · 19/05/2018 23:10

Ghanagirl. Hardly being herself. Got rid of African American nose early doors.
I'm sure she's lovely. Whether she has the qualities to be a good Royal remains to be seen. Their role is to be dutiful rather than self serving. I think it's alien concept for a Hollywood actress.

Ghanagirl · 19/05/2018 23:12

Gosh the hate, her nose is like her Dads!
I'm black but have a pointy nose so what?

mishfish · 19/05/2018 23:12

She is a feminist humanitarian and has done a lot to bring to light some female focused charities.

That probably sums up why the daily mail commentators hate her

quencher · 19/05/2018 23:16

*Her past gives the impression that she’s a social climber - ready to step on anyone and everyone to get where she wants.

Her actions and reactions seem overly constructed, there’s nothing natural about her so it’s difficult to warm to a character.

She doesn’t seem to have many people around her who are fond of her. Her only family members hate her. That’s a serious red flag.

She’s an actress, divorced and has various questionable photos/clips out there. It is not what people expect from the modern day royal family.

Diana and Kate grew up in a privileged setting, they’re respectable. Dating porn stars and marrying a director does not carry the same level of respect.

Kate courted Wills for many years, she was well advised by the KP during that time so when we saw her joining Wills on his royal duties, she was very polished. MM and PH seems far too rushed, like she may have agreed to something without fully realising what she was getting in to.

The interview and appearances she has provided so far have shown her to be very fond of the limelight - again, not something people associate with the royals and certainly not Harry.

Harry has grown up in front of all of us without his mum. This has endeared him to many and so, probably, any wife he chose would be met with caution as many won’t want to see him get hurt/go through another media circus.

But yeh, it’s much easier for posters to just call everyone who may not have warmed to her a racist*

Someone pass me the sick sexist bucket so I can puke over it. Really! People are unbelievable.

It’s called empathy.

Ironic that you should invent some crazy nonsense about a poster’s life and then go on to wonder what goes on in people’s heads.

lborgia · 19/05/2018 23:17

WOah, just a minute there. The bridesmaid and pageboys were the children of her BEST FRIENDS. Given the option of your best friends hanging out with you and their children, and the husbands.. why TF would you suggest the dads do it??

TBH, I think being an actress must stand her in good stead - surely it’s a good thing that she can be composed and deal with the experience of the paps, the revolting daily fail articles etc? I do not think she looked fake yesterday - I thought she looked really happy. IF it’s all a pretence, then what does it matter to any of us if Harry is happy, and the world keeps turning?

Oh, and she’s Canadian.

QueenOfIce · 19/05/2018 23:17

I don't hate her, I hope they'll be very happy together. Harry clearly adores her, she on the other hand I feel is insincere. The doe eyes the clutching Harry's hand I don't feel she's genuine. Anyhoo none of my business time will tell!

SoupDragon · 19/05/2018 23:19

her nose is like her Dads!

And also just like it was as a child, oddly enough

SoupDragon · 19/05/2018 23:21

Oh, and she’s Canadian.

Wasn’t she born and raised in LA?
