To ask why there's so much hate for Meghan?

NotAnotherUserName5 · 19/05/2018 20:57

Curious as to why there seems to be so much negativity towards her? I genuinely know nothing about her.

Is it just jealousy?

OP posts:
PaintedHorizons · 19/05/2018 22:24

There is not any real hate. She is a celebrity and like all celbrities people who know nothign about them and have never met them form strong views of lvoe or hate. Those peopel are best ignored.

People love or hate Victoria Beckham, Oprah Winfrey, Fergie, Princess Anne, John Major, Carol Middleton, Elton John - to name a few that were there today. Of course people are not jealous of Meghan. How ridiculous. They just like to have and express an opinion because it validates who they themselves are.

BarbarianMum · 19/05/2018 22:26

Racism mostly. And yes, a bit of the British obsession for bringing people who've done well for themselves "down a peg".

WantToFeelFabulous · 19/05/2018 22:27

Without meaning to sound shallow harping on about her looks, she did look absolutely beautiful and was just beaming throughout.

And they both looked so genuinely in love. Rather heart warming and I must admit to not being a huge fan of weddings usually!

InkSnail · 19/05/2018 22:28

I think some of it is incredulity that some of the less tactful royals haven't put their foot in it yet. Some of the "looks" from certain royals when the service deviated from super-traditional Anglican protocol were a bit rude, I thought.

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:28

But going back to your original question op - I think it’s because the uk loves harry and doesn’t want to see him hurt. And because she’s American and the cultural differences do show a bit - that pastors ‘enthusiasm’ for one!

WantToFeelFabulous · 19/05/2018 22:29

Also thought her mum was just so cool and classy

maxthemartian · 19/05/2018 22:29

You know who calls people "fake"?
Jealous people who are just seething but can't admit that's why they dislike someone so they trot out the meaningless "fake" accusation.

Willow2017 · 19/05/2018 22:29

Ffs nobody 'gave her away' why is that a difficult concept? or is this particular bone just too juicy to give up

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:30

Willow the person walking the bride to the altar is the person giving them away?

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:33

I’m def not jealous of her - I’d hate to marry into the royal family with all the media intrustion and inability to live a normal life. Money and power - yes lovely thanks - but not royalty as she’s got so many restrictions and impositions on her now.

Positive comments - she’d looked beautiful, the music was good during service and harry is clearly besotted!

Willow2017 · 19/05/2018 22:34

Painted
There have been some pretty hateful things said on here the last week. Insulting everything from her looks, her origins, her life to her intelligence. And same for harry too. Much of it from so called feminists insulting a woman for making her own choices.

Shambu · 19/05/2018 22:35

I’m a good judge of character

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 19/05/2018 22:36

Stopsleeping

Really? She had a cat that got the cream expression on her face throughout?

She has been crucified in the press for weeks. She will never speak to most of her family again. The racist, misogynist press (Dailymail) will be relentless and you think she feels lucky? I think despite all of the above she married Harry because she loves him.

Ghanagirl · 19/05/2018 22:36

applesandpears56
Have you name changed again @Rosewhitetips

AskAuntLydia · 19/05/2018 22:36

I don't even know what people mean by "fake".

Usually they use it about someone prettier, slimmer and more popular than them.

Just sayin'

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:39

Eh? Re name change
Ask - she’s definitely slimmer and prettier than me Smilebut more popular?! Her family and half the country seem to hate her.
Amal clooney is slimmer and prettier than me and I don’t think she’s fake. Amal is a great role model for women.

applesandpears56 · 19/05/2018 22:40

I mean fake in that she’s portraying herself as different to who she really is underneath.

Willow2017 · 19/05/2018 22:40
  1. Megham stayed herself tjat Charles was not giving her away
  2. He stepped away before she reached Harry so did not give her away he accompanied her so she did not do the whole walk alone. They both looked very happy and relaxed together. I am sure she appreciated someone who was used to all that ceremony putting her at her ease. It must have been incredibly daunting even for an actress, this wasn't a tv programme this was live in front of the whole world.

Its nobody else's business who she had with her on her own bloody wedding day.

JelliedFeels · 19/05/2018 22:44

Her past gives the impression that she’s a social climber - ready to step on anyone and everyone to get where she wants.

Her actions and reactions seem overly constructed, there’s nothing natural about her so it’s difficult to warm to a character.

She doesn’t seem to have many people around her who are fond of her. Her only family members hate her. That’s a serious red flag.

She’s an actress, divorced and has various questionable photos/clips out there. It is not what people expect from the modern day royal family.

Diana and Kate grew up in a privileged setting, they’re respectable. Dating porn stars and marrying a director does not carry the same level of respect.

Kate courted Wills for many years, she was well advised by the KP during that time so when we saw her joining Wills on his royal duties, she was very polished. MM and PH seems far too rushed, like she may have agreed to something without fully realising what she was getting in to.

The interview and appearances she has provided so far have shown her to be very fond of the limelight - again, not something people associate with the royals and certainly not Harry.

Harry has grown up in front of all of us without his mum. This has endeared him to many and so, probably, any wife he chose would be met with caution as many won’t want to see him get hurt/go through another media circus.

But yeh, it’s much easier for posters to just call everyone who may not have warmed to her a racist Hmm

BertrandRussell · 19/05/2018 22:44

Becaause she's black. Next question?

JelliedFeels · 19/05/2018 22:45

Her only family members hate her.

Should be ‘her own’.

CocoaGin · 19/05/2018 22:45

I was discussing this with someone the other day. I personally think it is her confidence that throws people. We aren't used it, it's not terribly British and it freaks people out.

I'd love to have an ounce of her confidence. She walked up that aisle today without a tremble, walking towards a man who loves her and into a life that most others would run from the hills from.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2018 22:45

Soup - you are steeling for a fight tonight. Of course she decided who looked after her little helpers - it’s her wedding day - she chose those 4 women to shepherd the kids in.

No, I’m not “steeling” for a fight. I’m calling you out on presenting personal opinion as fact.

You have no idea whether she told the mothers that they would be looking after their children. That would be ridiculous.

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2018 22:46

And here we go. Sad

Surprised it took nearly four pages in before it started.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2018 22:48

Willow the person walking the bride to the altar is the person giving them away?

No. There used to be part of the ceremony where the vicar asks something like “who gives this woman” and the father hands his daughter over. That is “giving away” the bride and that did not happen here.
