To ask why there's so much hate for Meghan?

Curious as to why there seems to be so much negativity towards her? I genuinely know nothing about her.

Is it just jealousy?

The hate is because she's not white. It really is as simple as that. I've seen some horrible stuff about her on here, slagging her off because she's an actress, divorced, 36 whatever. Unconscious bias people. You don't like her because she's not white. Own it.

I think I'm pretty well established as a Meghan defender myself. I do try to avoid saying that certain posts on threads are racist, but I grew up in the American South, and I do know coded language when I see it. And there has been quite a bit of it on Mumsnet regarding Meghan. There has also been reporting and discussion in the US media about racism towards her in the UK and I think that has made me more sensitive to the possibility of it on Mumsnet. Of course the US is not exempt either; there is racism against her here as well.

But the main reason I persist in defending her is the level of sexism and downright misogyny that is expressed against her by some posters on Mumsnet. It is much more overt and, I think, more widespread and it is truly appalling.

This word is being banded about far too much. I don’t think it’s racism. Kate got (gets?) a lot of hate and she is white.

I think her race (both in terms of skin colour and being American) are easy targets along with her being divorced. Racism isn’t the root of it though.

I think the comments about Rev Curry would have been the same had he been white TBH. It was the difference in style that has people frothing.
