To ask why there's so much hate for Meghan?

Curious as to why there seems to be so much negativity towards her? I genuinely know nothing about her.

Is it just jealousy?

Ive seen an awful lot of comments saying she's a fake/phoney etc. Mainly seemed to be from american posters actually. I've not seen any race related comments.

I think it is race based but of course people will wish not to appear racist so say things like she's fake etc.

What is there not to like about her exactly? She loves him, he loves her - the end.

I haven't seen any negative comments about her. She is stunning and an excellent modern role model.

Who on earth would anyone be jealous of someone marrying in to an institution, were your life as you know it ends because every single solitary thing you do will be pulled apart and scrutinised with paparazzi cameras shoved in your face at all times, you'd have to be disillusioned to be be jealous of that. People can have a negative comment without being jealous of the person they're negative about you know.

Not seen any hate towards her tbh. There was a few bitchy comments from a few haters (on twitter) when Meghan and Harry were engaged, like she SO fake and such a social climber and SO OTT and similar twatty comments. But they didn't amount to much, because Meghan is basically a really lovely young woman, she is sweet and vibrant, and she and Harry clearly love each other.

Literally saw hardly ANY negative comments today on social media! 99% positive comments.....

I wish them all the happiness in the world Smile

People think they know something about her based on her background but they know nothing. Whatever she is will come out in the wash, so to speak. For my part, I’m inclined to think she is genuine and strong. I wish her and Prince Harry a long and happy life together.

I don't get it. I am a card carrying republican and I really do not get it. She is a feminist humanitarian and has done a lot to bring to light some female focused charities. She wants to shine a spotlight on these causes.

I'm definitely not a Royalist but those that are posting really hateful things about a woman they don't know seem to fall into two camps.
A) I'm not a racist (yes you most likely are) but she's American, different, over confident, not an English rose etc etc!
B) I hate the Monarchy and she's wearing incredibly expensive clothes (as does Kate Middleton)
MM has worked and paid for her own clothes and lifestyle previously to meeting PH but she's never going to win, luckily for her Prince Harry adores her...

Well if you're going to bury your face in the Daily Mail comments section you're unlikely to find anything except hate for everyone and everything.
It is a vile hateful racist shit-stirring xenophobic rabble-rousing piece of shit - why would anyone read it? I have no idea - but imo it is a national disgrace showcasing the very worst of the dark side of the commenters.

I think she's great. I'm no royalist, but I actually think Harry is OK too. He seems to be the most normal royal, and not as lazy a bastard as the rest. Or a snob. Poor fucker seems to realise he's part of a human zoo

I think she seems lovely! They both looked so happy today (on the bits I saw- I was working and sneaked a peek between busy times 🙂).
From the things I've heard her talk about she seems like she has a passion for her causes and is a good role model. I wish them both well. I think any hatred stems from bias due to her being mixed race, American and able to speak her mind!

Ill tell you why. Because its a spectacularly insidious British trait to hate anyone who 'gets above their station'. Oh yes, people pretend they hate the class system but in reality god help anyone who does well for them selves - the vitriol poured on anyone who dares to succeed and acquire the trappings of wealth. Again its a British trait to build someone up then kick them right back down where they belong.

On the sites I visit, there has only been good positive comments, only a few bits that were not very nice. I'm not surprised from the DM, it's typical, yes racism exists, and stupidity as well. There is no need to listen to them though. You can discriminate on what you read.

I don’t like her - it’s because she’s fake - she’s actress playing a part of sweet shy girl yet she isn’t at all.
That being said I think she’s good for harry and for the role - it needs someone with confidence and he obviously loves her

I've seen snide comments on here and lots worse on various other sites that allow people to comment. Some of it I think is racism but plenty is just some weird form of jealousy, because I see lots of unkind comments about Kate too. I've seen Meghan referred to as a golddigger and I've actually heard Kate and Pippa called "the Wisteria sisters" . Apparently none of them knew their place. Good for them I say.

There have been several ghastly threads and ghastly contributions to originally well-intentioned threads in the last few days. I suspect many of them have been deleted. They certainly should have been. I don't mean negative comments about The Dress etc, which anyone is entitled to (even if they are WRONG!) but really quite vitriolic statements about Ms M's life and character. I suspect they lifted their "facts" from the aforementioned filthy rag.

I wasn't even interested in the wedding at all until the horrible threads piqued my interest. Now I'm thoroughly on Team H&M. I hope they have a long and lovely life together if only to spite the miserable fuckers!

And I do struggle with her being touted as a role model for women being independent and feminist - she paraded in skimpy dresses for work on deal or no deal, gave up her career to marry and had only the mums looking after the small brudesmaids and boys on her wedding day.

Astonished at how many PPs are claiming not to have seen any hate on MN when every single MM thread has a raft of nasties saying horrible things or making nasty insinuations!

Ultimately I think it's because she's unconventional and people have very fixed ideas about who is suitable for a royal bride. Even kate got her fair share a few years ago, and she's much more in the traditional mould than Meghan!
