Without being bitchy about actual physical attributes, who looked great and who didn't quite make the grade?

I thought the bride's mother's outfit was lovely. Amal Clooney's yellow dress looked fab. Pippa Middleton's dress was v pretty. I liked Victoria beckham's too. Some lovely hats here:

But Eugenie and Beatrice bless them both seem to have gone for quite unflattering dresses in my personal opinion. They are young, slim, pretty, have lovely shiny hair and have an unlimited budget - how do they manage to get the dresses wrong?!

There was a woman in an orange dress with sort of cape sleeves. Anyone have any idea who she was?

Lady Viola Grosvenor I think you mean. Her mother was in a zebra print maxi and her sister in a peacock print. Her other sister, Edwina, arrived with her husband Dan Snow and her little brother Hugh, 27, is the new Duke of Westminster since his father died a couple of years ago.

dontcallmelen
It was the Van Cutsem family I was thinking off - I think the Mum (Emily?) was very good to the boys when Diana died.

dontcallmelen · 22/05/2018 21:40

@ajandjjmum yes I think so, think the boys all went to the same schools.

Forgot to mention Idris Elba's finance.

the all Gucci outfit was a bit OTT and not very appropriate for a (Royal) wedding. She is such a beautiful woman she could have worn something so much nicer.

AdriannaP · 23/05/2018 09:44

ha I meant *fiance of course

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 23/05/2018 19:06

I found the orange cape woman

I thought her dress was even nicer than Amal,Clooney’s. Turned out it was a 1930’s vintage dress.

I loved that one too Curly! Love the cape look to it - my favourite I think now

mydogisthebest · 23/05/2018 19:59

Oh I didn't like that dress at all. My DH said "here comes Batman" when he saw it

Idris Elba's fiancé looked very peculiar in that outfit. What was it, some kind of uniform?

She was in head to toe Gucci and unfortunately the labels were wearing her.

eloisesparkle · 24/05/2018 18:15

I thought one of Earl Spencer's daughters- not Kitty - looked a bit like a younger Sharon off Eastenders.
Not a look I associate with the aristocracy.

I still haven’t found the pink dress. Sob.

Petalflowers · 24/05/2018 18:33

I’ve tried looking for the pink, dress, but no success yet. (But have enjoyed looking at all,the fashions)

SirVixofVixHall · 24/05/2018 18:37

That is so nice of you Petal. I love it, I hope I can track it down, I’m not sure how though.

SirVixofVixHall · 24/05/2018 18:37

Also did love Fergie’s dress/suit, any ideas who made it ?

YearOfYouRemember · 24/05/2018 19:20

Apparently Catherine makes a point of not buying new for weddings. Assume as to not to take attention.

HerMajestysSecret · 24/05/2018 19:25

Pretty arrogant to assume that you will pull focus at someone else's wedding just because you're in a new dress.

Didn't work anyway did it? Everyone was talking about her dress for two reasons:

  1. It looked white
  2. She's worn it several times before and everyone recognised it.

I highly doubt she'd have stolen the following days front pages because she had a new boring coat dress on.

In Kate’s case, this is not an unreasonable assumptio

Purely reasonable given the amount of press coverage she gets and that so much of it is about what she wears. And decent of her to try not to outshine the people who should be centre of attention. But there will always be an element of 'can't do right for doing wrong'.

HerMajestysSecret · 24/05/2018 20:10

Do you really think Kate in a new dress, or at least something not suite so instantly familiar, would take the shine off the bride?

Everyone in my house immediately said "Is Kate wearing white? Shock

RoseWhiteTips · 24/05/2018 20:20

Kate looked her usual elegant self.

MorningsEleven · 24/05/2018 21:49

I like that she wears her outfits more than once. Bet it was hard knowing the press would be scrutinising her figure so shorty after giving birth. I'd have been in joggers and something with a bit of sick on the front.

RoseWhiteTips · 24/05/2018 22:54

She looks fabulous always.
