Royal wedding outfits (because they are the best bit!)

Without being bitchy about actual physical attributes, who looked great and who didn't quite make the grade?

I thought the bride's mother's outfit was lovely. Amal Clooney's yellow dress looked fab. Pippa Middleton's dress was v pretty. I liked Victoria beckham's too. Some lovely hats here:

But Eugenie and Beatrice bless them both seem to have gone for quite unflattering dresses in my personal opinion. They are young, slim, pretty, have lovely shiny hair and have an unlimited budget - how do they manage to get the dresses wrong?!

Lovely to see Earl Spencer's first wife, Victoria at the wedding, being escorted in by her handsome son and beautiful daughters. One of the twins didn't appear to be there.
I haven't seen the wedding yet, I recorded it. I'm just checking out these threads and the Daily M Blush
Was there any mention of Diana at the service ?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/05/2018 20:26

The Princess Royal was wearing a dressing gown...

wowfudge · 20/05/2018 20:29

Carey Mulligan Titanium pins?

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 20/05/2018 20:33

Abigail Spencer.

All the heels were crazy high though.

Yamayo · 20/05/2018 20:41

I thought Victoria Spencer's outfit was really chic.
Carey Milligan is adorable in anything.

Also loved that orange cape dress- exquisite tailoring.

LakieLady · 20/05/2018 20:47

Now that I've looked at some pics, Doria Ragland, Kitty Spencer and Amal Clooney were my faves. I also liked the florals esp Carey Mulligan and Sophia Wellesley.

Kitty Spencer is so beautiful, she'd probably look good in a bin liner and wellies, but I loved that dress and that shade of green is one of my favourite colours.

Teacher22 · 20/05/2018 20:53

Amal Clooney’s outfit was amazing. She really put everyone else in the shade except Meghan and Doria.

MissEliza · 20/05/2018 22:36

I love Kitty Spencer's outfit for its 1950s silhouette. The colour really suited her too.

Ladyflop · 21/05/2018 04:56

All the slim women looked amazing, they could wear anything and it would look good.
James Blunt and James Corden's wives were my favourites.

Titaniumpins · 21/05/2018 08:04

yes that was her thank wowfudge

BarefootMe · 21/05/2018 09:04

Amal Clooney and Pryanka Chopra stood out for me. Pryanka looked llike a goddess as she walked down the hill before the wedding - fab in Vivienne Westwood.

Titaniumpins · 21/05/2018 09:17

Suits star was stunning too
Gina Torres

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 21/05/2018 09:22

Who is electric blue?!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/05/2018 10:04

Jessica Mulroney was in electric blue. ( mother of the 2 pages holding the veil)

Wdigin2this · 21/05/2018 10:19

Well I didn't like Victoria Beckhams outfit, too dark and severe. It would have helped if she smiled once in a while, and David should not have been chewing gum!

ralfeesmum · 21/05/2018 11:28

Victoria Beckham STILL could not manage even a half-baked grin never mind a full-on smile for a Royal wedding.

Why?

Surely it can't be because she forgot to put her dentures in......?

SusieOwl4 · 21/05/2018 12:58

Only saw one person who I felt looked totally inappropriate, Chloe Madley. Everyone else I thought looked lovely. Some very individual styles. Loved the whole thing .

cherrytrees123 · 21/05/2018 12:59

I agree Susie about Chloe Madeley

lill72 · 21/05/2018 13:09

Oh I just adore Cressida Bonas s outfit! It is a stand out.

Amal of course.

Pippa.

Kitty Spencer way too old and frumpy for such a gorgeous girl.

Kate looked lovely but so dull. Think a new slightly interesting outfit would have been good.

Victoria Beckham stylish but too dark.

MissEliza · 21/05/2018 13:30

Even my 9 year old dd remarked that Kate had worn that outfit several times and that the colour was inappropriate!

MinesaPinot · 21/05/2018 13:33

My standouts were Gina Torres, James Blunt's wife and Amal Clooney.

Only 2 'what is she wearing moments' for me - Chloe Madeley and an unnamed woman who was wearing a cream top and black tulle skirt which was dreadful.

But overall I thought it was a beautiful, personal and stylish wedding and I loved it.

AndreaPreece · 21/05/2018 13:38

Hi, First post on Mumsnet, I was recommended your site by a friend who said you may be able to help me.

Do any of you have any idea who the couple are walking into St. George's Chapel ahead of Earl Spencer?

My daughter loves her dress and would like it for my sons wedding in September.

BlooperReel · 21/05/2018 13:40

I thought Abigail Spencer's dress was hideous but her hat/head piece was lovely. I didn't like Priyanka Chopra's jacket but again her hat was lovely. Idris Elba's wifes outfit missed the mark I think. Victoria Beckham whilst looking stylish, looked very severe and a bit too dark and Addams family for me.

Gabriel Macht looked gorgeous, as did Kitty Spencer and Amal Clooney.

Serena Williams got it spot on, so did Carol and Pippa Middleton.

Meghan;s mum Doria looked incredibly elegant and I loved the colour.

MinesaPinot · 21/05/2018 13:50

Can anyone link to Sarah Chatto - I didn't see her and I always think she really looks good.

JessieMcJessie · 21/05/2018 13:53

I had no idea that Abigail Spencer was in suits as I gave it up after Season 1, but I do love Timeless so like some others on here I did a double take when I saw Lucy in the Quire and wondered who in the congregation was Rittenhaus! Wink

I loved James Blunt’s wife Sofia’s dress too, glad to see it getting so much love on here as I saw it slagged off in the Daily Mail. Pippa Middleton’s was awful, nasty insipid colours and dowdy florals, but I did like the florals on Lady Kitty’s Spencer's dress.

Someone needs to encourage Carole Middleton to shop somewhere beyond whatever Bucklebury “Boutique” for ladies of a certain age she favours because those ice cream coat dress combos do nothing for her lovely slim figure and are all boringly similar. She’s too timid in her choices.
I loved the guachos pink number worn by the pregnant mum of the littlest bridesmaid.

Surprised that Doria and the Queen both wore green, you’d think that the Palace might have checked.

LOL who we said that Eugenie looked like an extra from Heartbeat Smile. I can imagine doing the same and fancying myself as a bit Jackie O but not realising how hard it is to pull off till I saw the photos. Loved the colour and textures in Beatrice’s dress, the style was a bit heavy but she was on the right track.

Agree that Serena and Oprah both were in a “non colour” that did little for either of them. Shame as the silhouettes of both were awesome.
