Royal wedding outfits (because they are the best bit!)

Without being bitchy about actual physical attributes, who looked great and who didn't quite make the grade?

I thought the bride's mother's outfit was lovely. Amal Clooney's yellow dress looked fab. Pippa Middleton's dress was v pretty. I liked Victoria beckham's too. Some lovely hats here:

But Eugenie and Beatrice bless them both seem to have gone for quite unflattering dresses in my personal opinion. They are young, slim, pretty, have lovely shiny hair and have an unlimited budget - how do they manage to get the dresses wrong?!

Kitty Spencer’s mother looked so frail, I was shocked.

I think Victoria had an eating disorder at one point? It was years ago but maybe it impacted her health quite severely. She's only mid-50s.

Yes she had anorexia and drug problems, but I assumed all in the past. She is terribly thin though.

Loved what James Blunt's wife wore. As for the rest, meh. Astounded that these people have so much money and the whole world to shop in, and still they can't get it right.

Victoria Beckham looked like an extra from Call the Midwife.

I really dislike the small, pancake style hats being worn. They were deeply unflattering in the 1950s, and still deeply unflattering today.

Gina Torre's dress was lovely. Her hat looked like it belonged on a donkey on Blackpool Beach.

The queen always wears very bright colours so she is visible from a distance. She wants to make it easier to see her from a distance. I thought she looks looked great

Kate looked absolutely fantastic given that she gave birth only 3 weeks ago!! . I assume she didn't have a lot of time to sort out a 'perfect' outfit but I thought the outfit was fine looked good if a little 'safe'

I just don't get it. I thought the Suits actress in the blue spotty dress looked absolutely awful. Even apart from the way she wore it, it was not a wedding guest outfit. What am I missing?

My take on the queen's outfit is that it's the same one she always wear, different day, different colour. Clearly it works for her, but I never find her clothes interesting in any way.

I wonder whether Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are obliged to follow a dress code that means low cut tops aren’t allowed. Otherwise it would be obvious for them to choose necklines that are better suited to larger busts.

I only saw bits on the news. But it looked like a large number of the women chose their outfits when it was freezing! They'd have been boiling today!

Some very elegant ladies but thought Chloe Madeley showed too much cleavage. Not a great choice .

I've been watching the wedding again, and this time I saw Sarah Chatto. Very elegant indeed.

I think her Mum looked best. Really pretty and classy.

Amal Clooney killed it. I won't judge anybody else because I would die of mortification if I had to get dressed for an event like that.

Without reading the thread, for me lady Kitty Spencer had the look of the day

Amal Clooney is just incredible. Beautiful, poised, dress to die for. I think I have a crush on her.

What I loved about what Kitty Spencer was wearing was the way her shoes and clutch picked out the orange in the floral pattern on the skirt of her dress perfectly. The woman knows how to dress!

Blue polka lady looked like Mary Poppins. I thought she was going to nip out the back and keep the kids quiet during the service.
I wore a similar outfit to a wedding in about 1987.
I actually loved the flowery numbers. The ocean of baby pink made me a bit queasy.
Zara looked fabulous but I was a bit concerned about the way she was propping herself during the sermon - it looked as though she was breathing through some fairly heavy Braxton Hicks!
And Anne’s smoking jacket/ Hefneresque dressing gown wasn’t my cup of tea - but she’s nails so she can wear what she likes.

Loved the blue spotty dress. Also Amal's outfit, Oprah's, Serena's and I think it was James Blunt's wife? Was Lady Helen Windsor there? There seemed to be quite a few royals missing. It was good to see Chelsea and Cressida there, it shows a great deal of maturity from all concerned.

Apparently, the reason Victoria had a face on (apart form being a bit stony-faced generally) is that David thought the guy checking the invitations was the Archbishop of Canterbury or something . He shook the guy's hand and then Victoria felt obliged to do the same. I do love them both, but this was quite funny.
