How many do you have and what are the age gaps like? Would you want more and why?

Op have you had any yet? I was in school with a girl who wanted 4, has recently had her first and has said she's done as cldnt anticipate how hard it was

Gottokondo · 17/05/2018 19:34

First I wanted 11 (my own football team Grin). Then I wanted 2. Now I want 1.

I quit the pill on the 1st of January 2009. A lot happened in those years. I'm waiting (and having treatments) to hopefully have the first. Now I just want 1. I don't want to do the whole medical route for a second and I'm getting old and don't want two close in age. My husband has always only wanted one so that's good.

PrimalLass · 17/05/2018 19:34

I wanted four until I had two.

They are very expensive 😂

LiveLifeWithPassion · 17/05/2018 19:36

I have 3 and I’m happy. I couldn’t cope with 4. 3 takes me to all my limits.

Osopolar · 17/05/2018 19:37

I wanted three and then I had DS and he is now my only Grin He is a lovely easy going toddler but he was an awful baby. Am so happy to have the increased independence that comes as he gets older and how much more fun it is to spend time with him. I now think babies are massively overrated. I feel sad sometime at the fact that we don't have more but I also know my limitations.

livingthegoodlife · 17/05/2018 19:37

I wanted 4 but have 3 and am really happy. It's a massive expensive jump from 2 to 3, 4 would be insanely more (for us).

SamHeughansLeftEyebrow · 17/05/2018 19:38

*I wanted 4.

Then I had one.

We’ve got 2 and are totally done* Grin

They cost too much. The lifestyle we want to give them, even two is stretching it.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 17/05/2018 19:39

I always wanted 4 or more. After #3 I realised I probably couldn't handle any more and we stopped there. #3 has aged me about 10 - 15 years in the last 3 years! Age gap is 2 years between DC1 & 2, then 6 years between DC 2 & 3 (there were 3 miscarriages in the 6 year gap though)

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 17/05/2018 19:39

Also wondering how many you have now, OP. I know some people love having lots of kids, but I think a lot more think they will until the reality hits them.

The first year I had four DCs was the hardest year of my life. Mind you, XH was like an additional child in some ways. Make sure you have a decent partner first!

Jammiebammie · 17/05/2018 19:40

I have 3, would have loved 4 but some things just aren’t meant to be. Youngest is 9 now so I doubt it’ll ever happen.

I know a lot of people with 4, I don’t think any of them actually planned number 4. The couple I know who wanted 4, stopped at 2!

WyfOfBathe · 17/05/2018 19:40

I said I wanted 3. So far I have 1 stepdaughter (7) and 1 daughter (1).

DH and I are toing and froing about having another.

BirthdayKake · 17/05/2018 19:41

I've got four - 9, 7, 5 and 2.

I'm planning more as I don't have any with DP yet.

BertieBotts · 17/05/2018 19:41

1 and 1 on the way, will be 10 year gap.

I have never loved the experience of having one, though I can see that there are some fantastic benefits to it. We'll be trying again so as to try and get two close in age! I think 3 is probably our limit though.

I always thought I wanted 5 when I was younger Shock but the reality of parenting put a stop to that! I would love 2 or 3 though.

Namechangemum100 · 17/05/2018 19:42

I have 2, girl and boy, 14 month age gap. Ds is only a month old so we are in the thick of it right now.

I am very much done at 2.

Racecardriver · 17/05/2018 19:44

YABU. So long as you can afford them have a many as you want. I have two children two years apart. Open to having more but not desperate. I would dearly love to Foster or adopt children if I have any more though. Stopping at two for now though as can't afford any more at the moment.

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/05/2018 19:44

I have seven , age 19, 13, 7, 5, 4, 4, and 3 maybe one more we will see.

Racecardriver · 17/05/2018 19:44

*YANBU. Children are lovely. If you want lots that's nice.

swampytiggaa · 17/05/2018 19:45

I’ve got one dd (3) and am 3 days overdue with number 2 and that’s me totally done. I adore my daughter and can’t wait to have a new baby in the house again but to be honest I’m too selfish to have more. I like my sleep, I like having my own body and being able to have a drink every now and again - I LOVE sushi. Also I suffer bad SPD in pregnancy.

So yeah, 2 is ideal for me. I like that my dd can have a sister and companion and I feel that 2 is our limit financially.

LoniceraJaponica · 17/05/2018 19:47

How do parents of large families cope with exam stress, friendship issues, bullying, relationship issues, health issues?

I have one, and quite frankly I wouldn't have been able to deal with all that x 4. Not to mention the cost, the drudgery of extra washing, cooking, cleaning etc. Shudder.

PuppetOnAString · 17/05/2018 19:49

I have two and have no wish for any more. I only have two hands!

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/05/2018 19:49

The same as any other family? I don’t understand your point Lonicera?

ConfusedLivingDoll · 17/05/2018 19:50

I initially wanted two, but stopped after one. I'm not really cut out for motherhood, which is a fact I only discovered afterwards.

TammySwansonTwo · 17/05/2018 19:50

Before I had kids I’d have said YAB slightly U.

Now I have twins... you’re bloody mental.

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/05/2018 19:51

Washing I have awashing machine and dryer , just shove it in and out. Cooking it’s no harder to make eg chicken curry for nine than four. Cleaning, I have a cleaner so no extra work there.
