To think transgender women really have no idea what being a women is ? . Maybe it's time we had a 3rd Gender . Be interested in hearing what real women & transwomen feel ?

I usually make a very conscious decision not to engage with the transphobic side of Mumsnet and I'm going to do the same here, I think. I don't think it's healthy to throw fuel on the fire, and I know it's impossible to change your minds.

All I can say is that I'm glad you're losing this battle. I'm glad the real world, outside of this site, is moving towards full endorsement of trans rights. I'm glad that in 20 years time the transphobia of today will be viewed the same way we now look at Jim Crow laws, apartheid, section 28, etc. I'm glad I'm part of the movement towards equality.

Yarboosucks
When I had my first period I felt like a woman
When I was molested by an older man at work when I was 18, I felt like a woman
When I have a birth to my children, I felt like a woman
When I went for a smear test I felt like a woman.

Trans women are not women.

Yarboosucks · 16/05/2018 22:45

There are plenty of natural born women who never have a period or give birth. They are still women

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/05/2018 22:46

You’re fooling yourself California

ghostyslovesheets · 16/05/2018 22:48

@CaliforniaDream

again ... what IS a woman in your view

In MY view it's a person born female - educate me

GladAllOver · 16/05/2018 22:48

Carry on dreaming California.

We are not asleep.

AnxiousPeg · 16/05/2018 22:48

there is no one way to be a woman, no set of criteria we all have to tick

Ummm... Fail biology, did we?

Pratchet · 16/05/2018 22:48

Why are you so fearful of trans women

Could you point out the 'fear' please. Posters have said transwomen are male. This is a fact. It is not loaded. It is not judgmental. It is not untrue. It is not fearful.

I said it hurts women to pretend that transwomen are women. This is also a fact. It is not loaded. Multiple example are available.

VioletCharlotte · 16/05/2018 22:48

Strongmummy
Why are you so fearful of transwomen? What do you think they're going to do?

I don't want someone with a penis to be able to use the same changing room as my teenage DD.

I don't want trans women (men) who self ID to be able to work in women's refuges.

ghostyslovesheets · 16/05/2018 22:48

How are they imposing on women’s rights - GIYF

FermatsTheorem · 16/05/2018 22:49

Makes perfect sense to me, Yarboo and is pretty much how I feel. I am a woman, I feel like me. I can't think of any way of "feeling" inside that would put me, Theresa May, Malala, Miranda Yardley (who I respect greatly) and Danielle Muscato in the same category of "woman" while putting Conchita Wurst in another (as I understand it, Conchita's creator, Thomas, would "identify" as a man). I can however think of a material fact (our female biology) which makes the first three of us women

Terfing · 16/05/2018 22:49

Can someone please name me one thing that trans women have in common with natal women?

Any one thing will do Smile

AnxiousPeg · 16/05/2018 22:50

How are they imposing on women's rights?

Well, given that you've seen so much material about transwomen on MN it's literally impossible that you won't have read countless very specific explanations that should answer your question!

Yarboosucks · 16/05/2018 22:50

I am with CaliforniaDream

ghostyslovesheets · 16/05/2018 22:51

I am with CaliforniaDream

we guessed - even with our lady brains Hmm

Pratchet · 16/05/2018 22:51

I'm glad the real world, outside of this site, is moving towards full endorsement of trans rights.

I'm happy to inform you that trans people already have equal human rights with everyone else, and also protection against discrimination from the point they identify as the opposite sex. You must be thrilled.

All I can say is that I'm glad you're losing this battle.

Well, we aren't, so there's that.

AnnieLou1970 · 16/05/2018 22:51

And you can stick the word Cis up your arse, frankly. Transwomen do not get to call women ciswomen. We were here a lot longer than you. You don't get to come late to the party and dictate anything.

bert3400 · 16/05/2018 22:52

Why are transgender so anti establishing 3rd Gender.

UrsulaPandress · 16/05/2018 22:52

In 20 years time we will look back and laugh.

What rights do trans people not have?

DixieFlatline · 16/05/2018 22:53

They have eyeballs. Brb, need to inform my cat that he’s a woman, too.

I don't even think it's transphobic to say transwomen are not women. They're not. Perhaps a third gender might be a good idea, or a fourth for transmen too.

AnxiousPeg · 16/05/2018 22:54

Funny how California won't 'engage with' the questions, isn't it? Almost as if there is no possible way to define 'woman' if biology isn't allowed...

FermatsTheorem · 16/05/2018 22:54

Now I'm really confused Yarboo - I think the claim that transwomen are women because they feel like women on the inside is wrong, but at least it makes sense. But you clearly don't base your belief that transwomen are women on this - so what do you base it on? In what sense is a transwoman a woman in your view?
