AIBU to think that anyone who hears Laurel is playing a practical joke? It's definitely yanny!

DH and ds both hear Laurel 😲

ScienceIsTruth · 16/05/2018 19:02

I'm mid 40s and can only hear "Yanni" (until I listened to that explanation. My oh hears "Yearly". My dd 13 hears "Yanni" too.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 16/05/2018 19:24

Laurel although the first time it sounded like it began with a y. Was listening with a headset at work. Tried it on the other ear and when he said it I actually felt sick!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/05/2018 19:26

I heard yer mate, so probably more like Yanny than Laurel.Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 16/05/2018 19:27

OMG! Just demonstrated to DH on my phone and it's definitely Yanny. Weirder.

EachPeachPearPlumb · 16/05/2018 19:55

I hear laurel, low pitch, and nothing else.
DC1 (13) hears both clearly but yanny is a bit louder, and higher pitched.
DC2 (10) hears only laurel, low pitch.
DC3 (5) hears laurel only too.

Weird!

StewPots · 16/05/2018 19:57

Ok so late to the party. But I heard "Yanny" at first, yet after listening a while I heard "Laurel".

Apologies if this has been answered but why is that? When I listen now I can only hear Laurel. The mind is an amazing beautiful thing.

OublietteBravo · 16/05/2018 20:03

I hear ‘yearly’

MooominMamma · 16/05/2018 20:04

Myself and my 9 year old hear Laurel, my 6 year old hears Yanny!

Flomper · 16/05/2018 20:14

The trainers are pink and white laces....no wait, I went back and they are grey and green wtf

Bejazzled · 16/05/2018 20:19

Now they are pink and white again. What's going on!

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 16/05/2018 20:20

I hear "yay-ray". Tried at home and at work. Suppose it could be "yearly" at a push. But Yanny or Laurel? Neither!

ScrubTheDecks · 16/05/2018 20:21

Am I the only person for whom the link in the OP doesn’t work?

SimonBridges · 16/05/2018 20:22

What I want to know is who was the person who recorded this and why.

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 16/05/2018 20:24

Yanny.
Trainers are grey with mint green laces, sole and stripe

milliememum · 16/05/2018 20:24

paddypants13 · 16/05/2018 20:27

Dh hears Laurel and sees the trainers as pink with white laces.

He's wrong of course! Grin

mookinsx · 16/05/2018 20:33

I heard Garry. So yeh....

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 16/05/2018 20:33

After singing along to Ariana Grande whilst in the shower (me not Ariana) tried it again & am now hearing Yanny.
(Wonder if that's because Ariana is high pitched so my ear was automatically picking up high frequency sounds?)
DH can only hear Laurel.

The trainers are pale pink with grey laces.
