AIBU to think that anyone who hears Laurel is playing a practical joke? It's definitely yanny!

Laurel. In a mans voice. No hint of yanny. Played it three times.

Tried it 4 times and I can only hear Laurel as can my 5 year old and 13 year old!!

Listened to it on the Independent link and this time I can only hear Laurel and my two DS's can only hear Yanny. So weird.

It started off as 'yarry' or 'yally' like my brain knew it wasn't quite right but was doing it's best. Came back 2 hours later to hear Laurel. Clear as a bell. Freaked me out and now I can't hear Yanny. My teen son can hear both, Yanny in high register and Laurel in deep.

DH can hear both.

I suppose if words sound so different to people, it explains why we all have different likes and dislikes with names.

It's not a trick hilda. Once you've tuned your ears in you can one or the other of your choosing.

Try saying Laurel (in your head) over the top of Yanny in a much lower, man's voice and see if it kicks in.

I hear Yanny every time.

Interestingly this morning I could only hear Laurel. Went to work (contact centre so busy day speaking/hearing people)
Played it again and I can only hear Yanny

I hear laurel mainly sometimes it switches to a totally different voice saying Yanny it's bizarre

Im 51. I played it about 20 minutes ago and could only hear Yanny. I just played it again and now I can only hear Laurel.

My dh and I listened at the same time. I can only hear yanny and he can only hear laurel.

I'm 64 and my husband is 71. We both hear Yanni and our 27 yr old daughter who is visiting hears Laurel.
