To think thong bikini bottoms are obscene

These swimsuits seem popular all of a sudden, and women have no problem getting their bums out at swimming pools or public beaches.

I personally think they're too much and I don't want to see anyone's bum cheeks. I probably sound jealous or like an old lady, but even if I had the body of a supermodel I wouldn't wear it. I feel embarrassed with a small hint of cleavage!

They're also not very flattering, even on the most attractive bodies. I just think they look cheap and tacky and I wonder when it became acceptable to wear something so revealing in public. AIBU?

So bum cheeks are literally filthy now? Confused

Where are all these people who can manage to buy modern swimwear and get themselves to the beach but have shit all over their buttocks?

I think that argument is a bit OTT.

PaulaLollie · 08/05/2018 10:27

Just to understand, are we talking about thong-thong bikini bottoms (like image 1) or slightly revealing bikini bottoms (image 2)?

I may see your point (although I honestly don't agree) in case 1, but surely case 2 is perfectly acceptable on the beach and at the swimming pool?

PaulaLollie · 08/05/2018 10:28

Incidentally, I also think case 2 can look very flattering on a nice bum, while I can see that case 1 is really hard to pull off well..

TSSDNCOP · 08/05/2018 10:29

Anyone else presently sitting on a chair wondering if their anus is pressing against it, albeit through a layer of clothing (this is a good thing as I’m sitting in a coffee shop as I type)?

My research reveals “no” to my question I think.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 08/05/2018 10:40

They can wear what they like, but most of them really don't have the bums to look good in them and they are not at all flattering.

Hideandgo · 08/05/2018 10:59

It’s depressing how many people are conditioned to judge ‘what looks good’ and essentially feed into the awful societal pressure on women to ‘look good’ or go home (cover up).

Where exactly is our freedom going to come from if not ourselves.

IRefuseToAgree · 08/05/2018 11:03

They aren’t flattering on anybody.

Slartybartfast · 08/05/2018 11:04

i first saw them back in 1989 - i didnt like them then, and i dont like them now

Slartybartfast · 08/05/2018 11:05

I shall avert my eyes and yes, image 1

SoapOnARoap · 08/05/2018 11:06

I think YABVU.

What does it have to do with you?

Slartybartfast · 08/05/2018 11:08

god no it isnt jealousy.

PrimalLass · 08/05/2018 11:10

They are very tacky IMO.

biscuitraider · 08/05/2018 11:11

I'd be furious if someone left sweat stains from a bare arse on my furniture. An arse that could have just been sat on a toilet. Why the hell would anyone want that? Confused Just cover it up, no one wants to see it anyway.

GorgonLondon · 08/05/2018 11:12

Nope, not jealousy for me either.

I just walked past the most stunning woman with the most incredible figure - she was a dark-skinned black woman wearing an electric blue clinging dress, so stylish, absolutely gorgeous and so sexy.

What a contrast to all of the lumpy pinkisj flesh on show in my local park today in the middle of a London suburb.

Hideandgo · 08/05/2018 11:18

Actually it’s the upper thighs that sat on the toilet, you’re ok with them ‘out’ and greasing up your subbed presumedly or should all people now wear full shorts to the knees in case toilet juice gets on seats?

Hideandgo · 08/05/2018 11:19

Gorgon! Seriously????

Lweji · 08/05/2018 11:19

I completely agree OP. It's much sexier to leave something to the imagination.

That has been the argument from older generations for decades now, in relation to things we wear and think we look good on.

Modern bikinis don't leave much to the imagination anyway. Just show less flesh.

Lweji · 08/05/2018 11:20

I'd be furious if someone left sweat stains from a bare arse on my furniture.

Relax, I don't think anyone is going to walk out from the beach all the way to your house to sit on your furniture wearing a thong.

Roussette · 08/05/2018 11:23

So what about sweat stains from bare legs? Is that OK? This really shouldn't be a hygiene thing, its aesthetics surely and I think a beautiful peachy arse looks great in a thong, but I admit I do prefer option 2 in the recent pics. I think that sort of bikini bottom is very sexy.

GorgonLondon · 08/05/2018 11:31

Gorgon! Seriously????

Yes, seriously! It's not only that she was Black thst made her so elegant and beautiful, but I wanted to communicate the full picture...

Just such a stunning and sexy woman to see when I'd just walked through the park averting my eyes from endless blancmange bottoms.

If I was going to be envious of anyone it would be her.

But I'm not.. I like admiring beautiful people regardless of their age, race or sex. Doesn't mean I want to see their arse crack in Archway on a Tuesday morning.

Hideandgo · 08/05/2018 11:42

I was saying seriously about the ‘lumpy pink flesh’ shaming. Those people were probably representative of a lot of us just trying to deal with the heat. Sorry we weren’t gorgeous enough for the skimpy clothes that used to fit but we’re all we could find in the drawers from summers past.

No harsher critics of women than women😥

specialsubject · 08/05/2018 11:48

not obscene. Not pretty, no arse is, but not obscene.

and asking for cystitis BTW...

Lweji · 08/05/2018 11:54

@Hideandgo

Only the beautiful people are allowed to go out or show any flesh or body shape, didn't you know?
And white skin is hideous.

MrsPreston11 · 08/05/2018 11:59

If I had the arse for it I'd be all over a thong bikini. YABU

Ethylred · 08/05/2018 12:05

I would say that you're being Victorian if that weren't a slur on a great monarch.
