These swimsuits seem popular all of a sudden, and women have no problem getting their bums out at swimming pools or public beaches.

I personally think they're too much and I don't want to see anyone's bum cheeks. I probably sound jealous or like an old lady, but even if I had the body of a supermodel I wouldn't wear it. I feel embarrassed with a small hint of cleavage!

They're also not very flattering, even on the most attractive bodies. I just think they look cheap and tacky and I wonder when it became acceptable to wear something so revealing in public. AIBU?

On the beach . . . I just think a bikini with fuller briefs looks nicer tbh. It's not about 'body shaming' at all

Personally I'm not a fan of butts, man boobs, high heels, saggy crotch trousers, shiny sports wear, sliders or loads of other fashion trends but (unfortunately) no one made me the boss of everyone so I guess I'll just have to put up with it. 😂😎

They’re not my cup of tea but I don’t begrudge people who wear them, it’s no skin off my nose what swimsuits people choose to wear.

I find any thongs uncomfortable, so a no from me, but really can't care less if anyone else wears them. Even men.

On the beach yesterday. One lady could pull it off but she also has lots of other decor on her body - really huge tattoos that looked amazing. I think she was really body confident (could have been the joint she was smoking that helped too)! Another lady was wearing one and it didn’t suit her so much but she didn’t look terrible.

I think if I had the body for it I would wear the skimpiest swimwear available and I was jealous of their fab bodies.

But where do you draw the line if we are all free to police what others wear based on how we think it looks?

Well according to these boards, women can wear or do anything and you can't criticise or object at all because to do so is misogynistic.

I agree OP. But don’t you know that you’re never allowed to make any judgement on a woman’s clothing choices on Mumsnet? Now if this was a thread about men who wear thongs on the beach, everyone would agree that it was hideous and obscene.

On holiday in Dominican Republic and one couple both wore tiny thong 'swimmers'. My DC nicknamed them 'The bum cheek couple'.
One day, at the buffet breakfast, my DS, aged 4, proudly told us he had said to the male half of the couple "Mrs Bum-cheek can have the first fried egg and I will have the next one,and he said I was a kind boy".
I think they were from Puerto Rico so I can only hope he wasn't absolutely clear about the name my son called his OH.

Can’t say I’m a fan of thing bikinis but I can’t get too worked up,about it. I don’t spend a whole lot of time staring at women’s arses. Or men’s for that matter.

They're horrible. Butts aren't horrible but 'look at my butt' is horrible. I also loathe trunks where you can see all the bulge. Grim.

I can see why some folks would think it's envy. I mean why feel so strongly about a glimpse of someone's arse cheeks on the beach.
