To think thong bikini bottoms are obscene

These swimsuits seem popular all of a sudden, and women have no problem getting their bums out at swimming pools or public beaches.

I personally think they're too much and I don't want to see anyone's bum cheeks. I probably sound jealous or like an old lady, but even if I had the body of a supermodel I wouldn't wear it. I feel embarrassed with a small hint of cleavage!

They're also not very flattering, even on the most attractive bodies. I just think they look cheap and tacky and I wonder when it became acceptable to wear something so revealing in public. AIBU?

They look pretty bloody awful on most people. Very few men or women can carry off a thong swimsuit however it is their right to wear it. I don’t want to see naked butts at the pool, but I do admire the chutzpah and am jealous of the self-esteem of people who do.

This thread has inspired me to buy a bikini! First one since I was five Grin
It's very Mumsnet Approved though-a Frost French one with high waisted bottoms to fully cover eclipse-inducing booty.

I dont personally care for them, but I suffer from massive bottom envy. Mine is as flat as a pancake.

If OH wanted to wear one after I stopped laughing I wouldnt care. Though the man has the arse of a god. You could bounce pennies off it. Its superb.

Yanbu. I don't see the benefit of having your bum on show. It doesn't bother me overmuch, but it's a bit exhibitionist.

But I don't find thongs comfortable. And it would require more grooming than I'm prepared to endure. It won't happen.

Obscene, sometimes, yes.
Last year, on holiday a woman on the beach bed next to us was wearing one and she kept on sitting on the edge, facing away from us, bending down to pick her toenails and revealing her actual arsehole, which the tiny string thong did not completely cover.
Vile. At least keep your bum cheeks shut if you're wearing one. Don't spread your legs and stick your arse up for all to see your anus. Thanks.

She was very skinny and had no bum cheeks to speak of really. Your standard arse would probably not allow sights of your anus to be revealed, however.

Tacky definitely, the women always look a bit desperate.
I am allowed to not like them, I am entitled to have a view. Some posts on here are saying people can wear what they want, of course they can, but that doesn’t mean other people will like it or it looks nice.

I kind wish for the days of modesty of both men and women. I am sick of seeing much flesh. Where has elegance escaped to?
