These swimsuits seem popular all of a sudden, and women have no problem getting their bums out at swimming pools or public beaches.

I personally think they're too much and I don't want to see anyone's bum cheeks. I probably sound jealous or like an old lady, but even if I had the body of a supermodel I wouldn't wear it. I feel embarrassed with a small hint of cleavage!

They're also not very flattering, even on the most attractive bodies. I just think they look cheap and tacky and I wonder when it became acceptable to wear something so revealing in public. AIBU?

I saw a row of teenage girls wearing them today, all lying face down on a beach - fair enough, except it was a beach next to a walkway busier than Clapham High street and they had chosen to lie two foot in from the path. I watched my 10 year old do a double take as he went by. (more embarrassed than interested at this age). So I do think a sense of location is important when deciding when to don your thong.

There was a woman down at the tip this afternoon wearing old-style running shorts with her arse cheeks hanging out. On her top half, she was wearing what was definitely a bra, and not a bikini top, and she looked like the slightly younger, slimmer sister of Karen from Eastenders.

Quite right that women should be able to wear what they want but yet yesterday we had a similar post discussion about men in hot weather, calling them all sorts of names because of what they are choosing to wear.

No it couldn't, it's all about practicalities, but also wanting to look nice. With these thongs it's more about feeling the need to flash your flesh.
