Takeaway spending

How much do you spend per week of month on takeaways and how many do you have a month?

I'm thinking of cutting down to save money and wondered how much others spent/have..

£0-00 maybe one or two a year when we are away. That's it. Complete waste of money IMHO! You can make for a fraction of the price what you spend on takeaways. If you need 'recipes, Google the food. There are 1000s of online. Have fun making them together

I’ve got recipes, fucking hundreds if not thousands of them, problem is I hate cooking. There’s absolutely no enjoyment in it for me, it’s a means to and end and I hate the means so much I don’t enjoy the end.
I don’t want to spend 30 minutes cooking when I get in at 8.30 after a 12 hour day and not eat until 9 then deal with all the pissing washing up.

Is it cheaper to cook at home? Yes, quite probably but to me, it’s worth the money for my bloody sanity.

I’m in N London. It’s not just an option between Chinese or pizza. There’s the most unbelievable amount of options for every calorie restriction, dietary requirement and cravings you could think of

I like cooking. I also like not cooking.

Feel sorry for you if your local takeaway is just cardboard pizza tbh - ours are great.

I agree I can make an amazing curry from scratch for half the price, but sometimes I can’t be arsed! Also, sometimes I just don’t have the time to simmer something for long enough.

I assume those of you that are being snooty about takeaways never eat out then either?!

We get 1-2 a month (but do also eat out at restaurants).
Spend about £20-25 pm on takeaways for 2 of us (DS is only 5mths).

I get Supermarket "take aways" - much more choice and can mix and match and the quality is so much better! I am always disappointed with take away, even from good restaurants.

Also means the food is cooked and eaten immediately rather than sat around for a while. Still no cooking, and other than turning on the oven, it's the same effort as opening a delivered take away.

Can feed all four of us on one of those for around £10-£15 if we really push the boat out!

Once a month - instead of eating out - we are close to some really good restaurants and pop ups so can get a really good meal via Deliveroo. It is usually tapas or meze as DC don't like spice that much. Cost £40-50. I also have lunch out on Wednesdays - a jacket potato or soup.

DC like pizza but I usually use the small supermarket value ones and let them add their own toppings and we have "fish and chips" on a Saturday but that is salmon or trout fillet with oven chips.

We order a Dominoes once maybe twice a month and spend about £20 each time. We have a Chinese probably once every 3 months and that will be about £30.

Yes, when we lived in London we ate out or had takeaways a lot

Now in a village, the local pub is v. V. Greasy, the nearest Indian is very bad, the nearest fish and chip a 15 minute drive, so cold by the time you get home. The only pizza that delivers to.us is Papajohns, but the teens, want Domino's (who don't deliver)

Could get a good Thai or Indian from nearest town, but 20 minute drive and no parking near restaurants...so it would take an.hour.

So for us, just not worth it.

On lazy nights we have ham and cheese toasties or supermarket pizza

Once a week - Friday nights. We both work FT and while I like cooking I also like takeaways. We go out very seldom - I have no problem with spending money on that.
