Loving your partner more than your kids?

Aibu to think this isn’t natural? Most people will say they love their children either more than their partner, or at least equally.... However, there are some people who seem to remain so starry-eyed about their partner even once they have children they profess to love them more than their kids. (Queen Victoria being a example).

I think it's important the family unit. In fact I love my partner more now than before we had kids as it's made us stronger

I find it odd that anyone would even try to compare the two things. Its not just apples and oranges its like, I don't know, pick two things that aren't even in the same universe!

It's a different type of love but equally as important. Nothing to feel bad about I think it's a big strength and children who are loved very well will be non the wiser. Also when they grow up and leave you have maintained and nurtured the love you and your husband for example have. Said from a wife who looooovvvvveeees her husband so much. We even tease each other about it, our baby is only 16 weeks but as she becomes more aware I would never say I love daddy more as the love is different. But I know what you mean, just enjoy both your loves and don't feel guilty if the strength within those two different loves alternate. Over thinking it will do no good, let it be :)

The love I have for my children right now is pretty unconditional. The love I have for my DH is conditional.....to him keeping to the promises he made when he wed me. I can't say how I'd feel if he broke them.

I was never anyone’s priority until I met my DH. 25 years where no one ever put me first. It was awful.
