To hate the word ta

Always pronounced with that aaaahhhh a

(instead of thank you that is)

Drives me nuts, especially when after a child is used to it the mum insists on them saying thank you and correcting them each time!

There are many words a child won't be able to say or pronounce at a young age but we just wait don't we

YABU.

Would you like a six month old to say 'thank you very extraordinarily much?'

And manners start young. Ta is fine.

MamaG · 15/05/2007 22:20

doesn't bother me

Ta

JodieG1 · 15/05/2007 22:20

I don't think it really matters and I'm sure there are plenty of words everyone says that others would find annoying. Live and let live.

rabbleraiser · 15/05/2007 22:21

Christ, Otter. What the hell is vile about it????

NotanOtter · 15/05/2007 22:21

NotanOtter · 15/05/2007 22:21

Beauregard · 15/05/2007 22:22

tombley · 15/05/2007 22:22

Hasn't this been done?

glassslipper · 15/05/2007 22:22

I dont like it. I preferred my DD to say thank you. It took an extra 6 months to learn and say it but fine by me.

I hate it too.... Especially hated if when DD could say thank you (or something similar) yet nursery staff still said say Ta to her.. (thank fully DD only went 1 morning a week)...

Definately a pet hate of mine (I don't have many honestly)

Just as easy to teach them thankyou or thanks...
