As above. My cousin asked me to help her move, no petrol money offered, not even a bed for the night as she wants to spend first night in new home with her partner alone. I said yes and here I am, worked all morning, soaking wet, was waiting for her in the car outside to follow her to new place, she didn’t come out so I went back in her hall and heard on say on the phone to someone that she’d asked me to move her because I daren’t say no to her.

I always help out when I can, I’ve taken a day off and driven a long way. Now I feel used.

@Isetan Ouch. I say this WRT the OP, and to myself (another people-pleaser, now sobbing after another day of pleasing others).

IDrinkAndISewThings · 02/05/2018 20:56

Well done OP, you’ve struck a blow for people pleasers everywhere! If I were you I’d leave it at that, no need for cryptic Facebook statuses or anything, however if she does ask why you buggered off, I love the response that ‘something and up and you dared not say no’! Grin

ALickyBoomBoomDown · 02/05/2018 20:57

Well done you! My partner always tells me off for always doing things for others and putting myself last. He absolutely hates it but I'd rather just keep the peace. Enjoy your wine! Grin

billybagpuss · 02/05/2018 21:05

I do hope that she at least has the courtesy to text and say thank you.

Ohyesiam · 02/05/2018 21:06

Woa cocktail, I feel your power!
I like the new you.
Enjoy.

SandyY2K · 02/05/2018 21:11

Personally I wouldn't bother telling her if it was me. I'd just stop doing anything like a favour for her ever again.

WeirdyMcBeardy · 02/05/2018 21:17

Did you hand the kettle over? I would have 'forgotten' that was on my seat. Also pleae text her and tells you what petrol money she owes you. What a cow!

Cagliostro · 02/05/2018 21:22

if she asks you why you didn't come back, just tell her something came up that you daredn't say no to

😂

Amunamun · 02/05/2018 21:32

Well, since you didn't walk out, I would at least tell her. Something like "be sure I will dare next time so don't bother asking"

Idontdowindows · 03/05/2018 00:22

Well done OP! Very pleased. :)

Jamiefraserskilt · 03/05/2018 00:47

What was in all those messages she sent you whilst you were driving?
Be very tempted to send one back saying:
Overheard what you said on the phone to your friend.
Hard to hear what you really think of me but now I know.
I don't expect thanks, a bunch of flowers or petrol money for today
A little respect would have been nice.

userinterface34 · 03/05/2018 07:30

Has she contacted you to thank you yet?

DragonMummy1418 · 03/05/2018 07:39

@cocktailsausages did you contact you?

Ellendegeneres · 03/05/2018 13:44

You did AMAZING

Trinity66 · 03/05/2018 13:46

if she asks you why you didn't come back, just tell her something came up that you daredn't say no to

Brilliant

Dandeliontea123 · 03/05/2018 13:57

Good for you OP. Cake No need to explain anything to your cousin if you don't want to. You took a day off, you paid for petrol, you have left her stuff safely with her partner. End of favours.

cocktailsausages · 03/05/2018 15:27

Hi all. No contact and I didn’t contact her.

Jamiefraserskilt the messages were asking where I was. I sat round the corner from her place for a while before setting off and stopped enroute to read them (and catch up on this thread lol!) so was later than she thought to the new place. She just wanted progress reports but I didn’t reply.

I like your message to her. If I do get in touch I will send that but right now I can’t be bothered to respond to her if she replied so I’m keeping quiet.

Hi OP well done. Hope you had enough left of your day off to have a little relaxation too.

Sparklyglitter · 03/05/2018 17:27

Never ever ever help her again! That’s just horrible! Shock

mumda · 03/05/2018 17:30

Well unless you unload the car and drive away, she's right.

Pickwickpapers · 03/05/2018 17:40

You should confront her before you drive off. What if you got the wrong end of the stick?

systemlakeland · 03/05/2018 17:42

I love the response that ‘something and up and you dared not say no’!

Brilliant!

Turquoise123 · 03/05/2018 17:51

How unpleasant for you . But at least you know now how she views you and you can act accordingly.

Rabblemum · 03/05/2018 17:57

Have words, no is a very important word, please use it from now on, when no one will help her lesson learnt.

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 03/05/2018 17:58

Why are you saying yes to everything as you say yourself? Just dump the stuff and go and don’t help again.
