Daddy and daughter date nights?

How long has this been a thing? An advert for a local Daddy daughter date night has just popped up on my Facebook. Seems a bit bizarre.

Some more of those very alarming photos in one place: www.featureshoot.com/2014/04/david-magnusson-purity/. How the families and the photographer could fail to see the overt suggestion of incest is utterly beyond me.

WalkingOnAFlashlightBeam Indeed. Eartha Kitt made that crystal clear when she sang the final line ''Cause my daddy treats it so well.'

That's horrible, date night would imply something sexual, I hate that phrase used in relation to children going out with their parents.

Slarti · 02/05/2018 14:06

It's like purity balls. Where a father takes his young daughter, in a white dress, so she can pledge to stay a virgin until marriage. Because her sexuality and body aren't her own. They belong to her father.

Maybe I've missed a huge detail, but how is it anything like that?

ush those photos WTF

mummyhaschangedhername · 02/05/2018 14:32

We do them, I certainly have never called them dates though.

I guess both of us (my DH and I) were raised in a fairly conservative church, although neither really active now, so perhaps that's why as others have shared. Although, I've never called them dates or treated them as such.

We just like to do one-on-one times with the kids, we have four children, we sometimes both go out with with one (for example we went to a concert this week, we knew one of our children would love it and last minute managed to get an extra ticket so he came along on OUR date night). But we regularly take one of the children out to various things, I think that was normal? No?

I do think it's weird in the generalised stereotypical gender roles some people described, but surely just asking a child out for a treat isn't that weird, is it?

I think any father who wouldn't spend intentional time with his daughter is a failure. Get over the fact it is called "daddy daughter" date - it's the idea behind it, nothing more. Sick people.

Never mind- didn’t realize it’s a zombie tread

It's disgusting. My father and I don't have a good relationship. I don't feel comfortable being around him.

That's a different thing. Assuming the father is loving, kind and intentional, he should be pursuing the heart of his children, boys and girls alike. Taking his daughter on a "daddy daughter" date models the kind of man she should look for in her older years and is a fun and important time for a young girls heart to be with her dad.

Actually it's more important than ever (or 7 years ago) that a father pursue his daughter's heart given the climate of the country and everything happening.
