AIBU?

DH wants a Range Rover (somewhat lighthearted)

DH is in the market for a new car and has seen a Range Rover in the garage down the road. It’s very expensive obviously and much more than what we could afford.

Yet he keeps banging on about it and he’s been talking about how much he wants one for ages. He talks about how cheap the tax and insurance is so he’s already investigated it Hmm

We have 2 young dc, I’m on maternity leave, we earn average salaries, live in an average house.

AIBU to keep telling him to forget it. How can I get him to forget this pipe dream?!

It is not cheap to insure or tax
It is nice to drive however

On the other hand I've had mine not for just under 3 years and not one thing has ever gone wrong with it. And as long as your not getting the 3l v6/ autobiography it's not bad at all on the mpg

I love RRR

But that's because my job involves ticketing people who can neither park , not appear to understand that traffic rules apply to them, and I can honestly say that so far RR have the highest score in that department !! SO many owners who basically leave them wherever, and usually hanging over two carpark bays
(Chipping Norton is a particularly great town for that, but I haven't come across Jeremy Clarkson yet... only a matter of time...)

I can see the comfort appeal but the they are such a common status symbol round here!

Doesn’t Clarkson favour the Volvo XC90 over the RR? At least on the basis of it’s a lot harder to nick.

I have a white evogue - so I gather now I must be a terrible and inconsiderate driver!! I love my car so much - it's so pretty and sporty!! It makes me so happy every time I get in it I couldn't give a monkeys what anyone else things.
It's not because I can't afford a 'proper' RR Confused it's because I don't need a huge car as it's normally just me in it, I can park it in a normal space and I needed a 4x4 as we live fairly rural and I need to get out for work.
For me - the worse people who buy a 2WD evogue, why?!

I have no trouble at all either fitting it in to a regular sized parking space.
