....asks someone to remove Kay Burley or at least lob a shoe at her head from her labour suite?

OP posts:
thegreylady · 23/04/2018 22:46

That sounds as if he came via Yodel or DHS or similar.
A woman is delivered of a baby technically.

Lico · 23/04/2018 22:48

Happy for Kate but felt sorry for her.
Why did only male medics attend to her birth? I could imagine her surrounded by all these males who never had to give birth themselves. Surely midwives could have been mentioned or a female professor included? Just me!

cherrytrees123 · 23/04/2018 22:49

Glad I'm not the only one wondering how on earth she does it. I wondered if she was wearing a red dress to disguise any leaks. Walking down steps in heels .. a bit risky. I certainly couldn't have done that after delivering. Episiotomy, multiple stiches and severe bruising. I couldn't;'t sit for three weeks, and couldn't walk for ten days.I think it's disgraceful she isn't allowed to leave quietly by the back door and appear in a couple of weeks with the baby. It's not like this is the heir to the throne, is it?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/04/2018 22:49

It’s not about palming off the baby.

Her clothes are washed and ironed, her house is cleaned, her other children are taken care of.

I bet she doesn’t have to worry about ringing her GP surgery at 8:30 to get an appointment if the baby is grizzly.

So yes, it does put the wearing of tights as a hardship in perspective.

cherrytrees123 · 23/04/2018 22:53

Btw, I know someone who works at George's school, and he isn't a little shit. He's just a normal little boy who feels overwhelmed in front of loads of cameras and shouting people after a day at school. For God's sake!

nokidshere · 23/04/2018 22:54

So were mine Chardonnay and I live in a bog standard house with no staff but thankfully with a dh who was happy to do all of the above and more

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 23/04/2018 22:57

At least Kate will be able to get legless at the wedding next month. Happy days.

MrsDylanBlue · 23/04/2018 22:58

Some pressure though to “lose the baby weight” in a month to be on the world stage being compared Hmm

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/04/2018 23:00

You are comparing apples and oranges here, NoKids.

noeffingidea · 23/04/2018 23:04

She already looks thin though, her belly looks a bit big (as you would expect), but she probably has little weight to lose. She could probably just wear spanx and look fantastic.
I'm another one who was up straight away, discharged 3 hours after the birth of my 2nd. Got up and got washed and dressed an hour after my 3rd (home) birth.
I don't see it as a big deal, tbh, if your'e lucky enough not to have any complications.

biscuitraider · 23/04/2018 23:07

Charlotte is just adorable - and the absolute image of the Queen.
Poor thing, i hope she doesn't inherit ever present frown.

biscuitraider · 23/04/2018 23:08

*the ever present

LongGame · 23/04/2018 23:10

Would love to know what you ladies who had natural deliveries think. Would you have been able to stroll outside, holding new baby, within about 5 hours of delivery?

Yes, I think I would all three times, especially if I had the additional help Kate undoubtedly has - people to organise clothes, hair, makeup etc.

BertrandRussell · 23/04/2018 23:19

"Btw, I know someone who works at George's school, and he isn't a little shit."

Better hope for his/her sake nobody finds out he/she's been gossiping........

Frankiewears · 23/04/2018 23:30

Do they hoover the womb out so you don’t bleed so heavily or has she had more time to recover than we have been led to believe?

BertrandRussell · 23/04/2018 23:37

She appeared in public for less that 5 minutes. Even a mumsnetter could find a maternity pad to contain 5 minutes bleeding. She is not bloody superwoman. She is a woman who has uncomplicated births, helped by the fact that she has the best possible medical care while in labour so interventions are less likely.

Surely this isn’t true. They will all have signed the Official Secrets Act, no?

MrsDylanBlue · 23/04/2018 23:43

Non disclosure agreement me thinks - not official secrets - that’s only military related.

My grandmother gave birth to 12 children at home. Up on her feet within hours, practically no help whatsoever. Lets not make out KM is some kind of super mum. I have no respect whatsoever for someone who has barely done a days work in her life and will never have to face the daily struggle that millions of mothers face every day.

popcornpaws · 23/04/2018 23:50

I felt amazing after i had given birth, i had a shower, went back to the ward and whilst my DD was sleeping i done my makeup, i could easily have stood waving for 10 mins!

BertrandRussell · 23/04/2018 23:56

Anyone who works in any school shouldn’t be gossiping about the children. But it’s not true anyway,

BertrandRussell · 24/04/2018 00:00

“Non disclosure agreement me thinks - not official secrets - that’s only military related.”

No- lots of people sign the official secrets act, not just military. Possible that George’s teacher might - don’t know. But people who work in schools shouldn’t tittle tattle.

While there is the huge issue of pressure and expectation, a great deal is alps within the control of the couple and they seem to have deliberately chosen to project the most unattainable picture-perfect image. Yes photos were expected / demanded but that didn't mean the mother had to be in high heels and a lightweight dress. Kate's outfit looked quite a bit more casual to me than William's. To match his level of formality, she could have gone with black skinny maternity trousers, ballet flats and a nice Seraphine top or even jacket. Perfectly comfortable and perfectly matched in level of formality with William, and perfectly suitable for the occasion. You rarely even see her in an actual dress at formal daytime engagement. Usually it's a coat-dress of some kind, not a lightweight dress like today. So I think it's a deliberately chosen media image to project an air of something different and better and unattainable about the royals.

I agree it's a horrendous situation and I would have hated it personally. But the public and media appetite could have been easily sated in a way that didn't require high heels, nude tights and a lightweight dress for a woman who has given birth hours earlier. The royals are playing the game as much as the media.

sycamore54321 · 24/04/2018 00:01

Mistake - it should have said Kate's outfit was much less casual / more formal than William's

BITCAT · 24/04/2018 00:02

I was up and putting my washing in the machine and doing lunches for the next day 5mins after having my youngest.
I think anything is possible. My birth was around 4 hrs at home.
