I think its so important people see this study based on the governments own analysis. Also reflects similar studies (one carried out by a free market US think tank I remember).

"After looking at all four options available to the prime minister, the study established that in the long-term, the amount of money available for spending on public services would fall. Under the so-called Norway option, there would be £262m less a week, under the Canada model it would be £877m, while under a no deal it would be £1.25bn.

This would mean 22% less funding available for the NHS if there was a bespoke deal, and 9%, 31% and 44% less under each of the other options."

And the ordinary person won't get a say in any of this
We already have and we got what we wanted. Once we have left the EU we can start having a say on what we want to come next. Until then happy for the liberal elite to have a good moan about political systems, macro economics and how the ordinary person wont do what they are told.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/04/2018 06:45

Except you don’t know what people want. There is no consensus beyond the vague “leave the EU”.

YANBU

I liken BREXIT to a tsunami that's about to break somewhere in the Atlantic come next April.
But what do you do? All the news sites are bias one way or another and like to put their own angle on what's to come.
Last Autumn we decided to get rid of debt, just the usual debt from family living CC, OD, home maintenance loans, car loan etc etc. In total there was almost £15k of debt!! We sold tons of unwanted, unneeded and unloved stuff and raised enough to clear everything except the home maintenance loan - that will disappear by May payday.
We are currently saving everything. From May to.......whenever! We intend on battening down the hatches and saving as much cash as possible.

Like a tsunami I think Brexit will appear as nothing more than a ripple until we are completely floored by the full force and like a tsunami once the water subsides and the damage is assessed I honestly think Britain will become a much stronger place.

Just my own musings, nothing more

I agree 're lauiremarlow's post.

I also agree 're Tsunami but not with the outcome unless you are talking many many decades time. Lots of people die in a Tsunami.

Walking dead - so ludicrously naive. Can she really think that Brexit is designed to benefit HER?

DailyWailEatsSnails · 21/04/2018 20:57

WHO ARE THE LIBERAL ELITE?
How do I spot one?

jasjas1973 · 21/04/2018 21:27

And that is a big reason why we are leaving the EU, to get away from people who like to tell us that they know better. Turns out they dont, so now its time for the average man and woman to have a say and we are taking back control no matter how much you insult us

I can see some advantage in being out of the EU but " taking back control?" that is just a slogan, Westminster will not relinquish anything to the regions of England but considering what successive governments have done to this once great country, your faith in them suddenly putting it all right again is rather touching.

As for your attacks on the Liberal elite, aside from its the language of hate and division, they are paying a proportion of the tax take!

That is the big problem I think, news media comes up with a slogan, a headline, a twisted story and so many people buy into it, happens with both sides. It seems to end up as who tells the biggest and most believable lie wins.
