To be absolutely terrified about these Brexit scenario predictions...

I think its so important people see this study based on the governments own analysis. Also reflects similar studies (one carried out by a free market US think tank I remember).

"After looking at all four options available to the prime minister, the study established that in the long-term, the amount of money available for spending on public services would fall. Under the so-called Norway option, there would be £262m less a week, under the Canada model it would be £877m, while under a no deal it would be £1.25bn.

This would mean 22% less funding available for the NHS if there was a bespoke deal, and 9%, 31% and 44% less under each of the other options."

I'd quit if I was you......... Your being made to look foolish.

oh do tell!

jasjas1973 · 20/04/2018 16:20

If we go back to war with the IRA then I will lay the blame solely at the feet of those that run the EU, whoever they are, I'm not really sure

EU is a trading block, once we leave, they have to have an enforceable border, just as there is one between Mexico and the USA
the EU does not want its single market undermined by illegal/cheap imports that do not meet their standards, just as we will restrict cheap Chinese steel or unsafe toys as we leave the EU and the UK doesnt want the NI border to become a unguarded entry point into the UK, the border will became just like the one at Dover but without boats !

Said border may well became a target for nationalists, once they attack/destroy any infrastructure, let alone kill a UK customs officer, the border will need to be militarised... by the UK military, whether the IRA has the means to mount a terrorist campaign is another matter but for sure, they ll try, so you can explain that to the widow of the first UK customs guy killed.

This wasnt consider by D.Cameron or in the brexit referendum, that is not the EU s fault, NI is a UK problem.

If you dont know who your MEP is or who is on the commission, then google will help you.

Let me let you into a little secret - I don’t care if Brexit costs the economy money. But it could be a disaster for some. If my income drops £100 a week it won't make a big difference to my life but for some families it could mean destitution. I don't know how it will impact on everyone but I do know some people just can't manage with less than they have now. The same with adult care, there just isn't enough money. It applies to other services as well, how will they cope if budgets have to be cut?

MissionItsPossible · 20/04/2018 16:22

Lets see how the electorate feels about that when there is less money for the NHS and public services. Watch how fast patriotism flies out the window!

You sound positively gleeful at this thought.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 16:24

You sound positively gleeful at this thought.

Its the people who want hard brexit and couldn't give a shit how much Brexit hurts the economy who are being gleeful. Brexit is a disaster for the UK. I live here, I am far from gleeful

peacheachpearplum · 20/04/2018 16:25

I find it worrying. I've got elderly relatives with dementia and it is terrible trying to get suitable support for them. The idea that it might get worse is just terrifying.

snash12 · 20/04/2018 16:26

During the 2008 financial crisis, my boss at the time was putting the frighteners on everyone in the office that we would be shoved back into each family / person providing for themselves, no supermarkets - to the point he was suggesting we all went home and planted our own potatoes..... He was a scaremongering prick. Although that crash was bloody terrible for some (losing homes, jobs etc) I believe the UK will always "bounce back". I am genuinely not going to worry about any of it until it starts actually happening. It is a waste of time and creates negative energy.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:26

Ghost doesn’t care if she looks foolish - the passion of her zealotry will see her through

MissionItsPossible · 20/04/2018 16:29

I am far from gleeful

It doesn't come across that way.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:29

Jas

If the eu is ‘just a trading bloc’ why are they sticking their noses in uk political business to the extent they are?

peacheachpearplum · 20/04/2018 16:30

snash it will probably bounce back but how bad will it be for the most vulnerable in the meantime?

OpheliaStorm · 20/04/2018 16:31

As far as I can see a lot of people only realised that NI was actually a part of the UK when the DUP were bought off to support Theresa May.

The reactions to the realisation of that fact was amusing if it wasn't so sad.

NI is part of the UK.
NI citizens can choose to identify as ROI/British or both.

Crash out of the EU, fine have a hard Brexit, but the fact that our fellow citizens will also lose the hard won benefits of GFA because someone in Surbiton doesn't give a shit about them, or didn't even realise that OMG, NI is actually part of our country is quite shameful.

If someone can justify the abandonment of a part of our country just like that, well I am sorry it is disgraceful.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:32

You have it wrong - the people worst hit by any crash will be our liberal elite in London. The same liberal elite pushing to overturn a democratic vote.

As ghost of admitted, remainers are preoccupied with money for this reason

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:33

Ophelia

Please explain why a customs border equals ni crashing out in the way you explain?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 20/04/2018 16:34

Remoaners are queuing up to jump off the cliff edge, they are so determined Brexit has to be a disaster they dont care if no one is pushing them, they are jumping no matter what.

Isn't that what lemmings do?

okdok · 20/04/2018 16:34

I honestly don't know how you people still have the patience to argue with these remaining leavers. Any half way sensible leaver no doubt saw the error of their ways a long time ago and is no longer reading these posts. These are the ones that are left - the complete no-hopers, either that or Russian Bots. Not sure what the point is?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 16:35

You have it wrong - the people worst hit by any crash will be our liberal elite in London. The same liberal elite pushing to overturn a democratic vote.

I think you'll find the wealthy will be the ones least effected.

As ghost of admitted, remainers are preoccupied with money for this reason

No Ghost didn't say this. Ghost said ordinary people who be affected by Brexit related cuts to the NHS and public services.

Orwellian stuff. When leave campaigners like Farage and Banks are seen as friends of the common man/woman and ordinary people are elites.

DailyWailEatsSnails · 20/04/2018 16:39

The squeezed middle and below will be hit hardest. They don't have resources or opportunities to make money out of the Brexit "opportunity."

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:39

Okdok

The final refuge of the remainer - we were all conned by Russia

Funny how russia is the culprit here, but isn’t when it attempts to assassinate spies on uk soil or when it looks the other way when chemical weapons are used on children

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 16:42

You were conned, by who is up for debate but conned nonetheless.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:44

Ghost of - you are like a prisoner in a gilded cage. The jailer is called the eu, but you don’t care because your cell is well appointed

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 16:46

keep the scripted messages coming - love it!

Laurence83 · 20/04/2018 16:47

Sorry love, but this is extremely boring. Go and have a G&T in the sun - it's beautiful out there!

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:47

Scripted or not - we are leaving the eu :) enjoy
