To be absolutely terrified about these Brexit scenario predictions...

I think its so important people see this study based on the governments own analysis. Also reflects similar studies (one carried out by a free market US think tank I remember).

"After looking at all four options available to the prime minister, the study established that in the long-term, the amount of money available for spending on public services would fall. Under the so-called Norway option, there would be £262m less a week, under the Canada model it would be £877m, while under a no deal it would be £1.25bn.

This would mean 22% less funding available for the NHS if there was a bespoke deal, and 9%, 31% and 44% less under each of the other options."

we are leaving the eu enjoy

I won't enjoy BINO, but it's better than the alternatives, so there's that. Wink

peacheachpearplum · 20/04/2018 16:50

You have it wrong - the people worst hit by any crash will be our liberal elite in London. The same liberal elite pushing to overturn a democratic vote. Well they might be worst hit but they are likely to still have a standard of living, people who are already on the edge can't afford to lose more. Same with social care, the vulnerable will get hurt if we do lose this amount of money. I'm not an economist so I have no idea if it is true but if it is then I think it is scary for some.

Theworldisfullofgs · 20/04/2018 16:51

Don't think May is capable of such complex thought of deciding whether she is a remainer or leavers.
She's a process implementer, of existing processes. That's why it's not going terribly well.

LaurieMarlow · 20/04/2018 16:51

The poor and vulnerable will be worst hit because they always are.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 16:53

and then the "winners" ran off....

Heyduggeesflipflop · 20/04/2018 16:55

I’m still here ghost of, laughing at your foolish moral superiority

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 16:56

its difficult not to laugh when your arguments consistently fall flat.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 20/04/2018 17:49

Which of the following parties do you trust most on the EU and Brexit? (12 April 2018)
Conservative: 37%
Labour: 19%
Liberal Democrats: 10%
UKIP: 9%

Do you think there should be a second referendum to accept or reject the terms of Britain’s exit from the EU once they have been agreed? (10th April 2018)
Should: 38%
Should not: 45%

Looking like we will get independence back. Remainers are all bark and no bite.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 18:07

Opinion polls were accurate last year weren’t they? Hmm

DailyWailEatsSnails · 20/04/2018 18:08

Wot, so the decision should be won on basis of who is toughest & nastiest? Charming! (NOT)

Walkingdeadfangirl · 20/04/2018 18:22

Opinion polls were accurate last year weren’t they?
Yes they were 100% accurate.
17,410,742 Votes to LEAVE and 16,141,241 Votes to remain.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 18:28

Last year was 2017, referendum was 2016. It’s ok brexiteers aren’t known for their accuracy

Walkingdeadfangirl · 20/04/2018 18:43

Oh you mean the election where the 3 'Remain' parties (LD, SNP, & Green), all lost vote share. Yip that was 100% accurate. Not much has changed since then, Brexit is chugging along nicely.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 18:46

If last years election was fought solely on Brexit the Tories would have won a landslide. Afterall, what could be clearer than Brexit means Brexit Hmm

Walkingdeadfangirl · 20/04/2018 18:58

If last years election was fought solely on Brexit the Tories would have won a landslide. We can all dream, but what matters is they did win and Brexit is a fait accompli, we are getting our country back.

DailyWailEatsSnails · 20/04/2018 19:02

There weren't any Remain parties in 2017 GE. Which party promised to stop Brexit completely?

None. There was no Remain party to vote for.

coconuttella · 20/04/2018 19:08

There weren't any Remain parties in 2017 GE. Which party promised to stop Brexit completely? None. There was no Remain party to vote for.

?? What a ridiculous excuse.... So you’re genuinely saying the likes of the LDs weren’t sufficiently “Remain” for you, and you would only vote for a party that pledged to ignore the referendum result completely and stay in. I didn’t know there were such Remain-extremists out there!

OpheliaStorm · 20/04/2018 19:09

A divided, fearful and confused nation is what is happening now. And no one appears to be allaying any fears, or closing divides, or sorting out confusion either.

I hate all this bickering and back biting. It is awful.

Teapot13 · 20/04/2018 19:17

As an American, I am really glad about Brexit. It means I don't have to be as embarrassed about Trump!

DailyWailEatsSnails · 20/04/2018 19:20

Since you're so fascinated about what other people do I voted for the least bad option, balancing all the aspects of the parties & the candidates. Which is how I treat most votes, tbh. No candidate or party is ever perfect.

The Back-biting & name-calling we hear now is trivial compared to what we'll get if we listen to the folk who think it's reasonable to just throw a hard border up betw. Norn & ROI.

More Important Point:
These technological solutions that UK half-proposed for the Irish border... Someone explain how would that be "controlling our borders"? Was the plan to have the exact same tech. solutions for Dover & Folkestone & Southampton, too? Is that what 'control' looks like?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 20/04/2018 19:25

LOL at the idea the LibDems & SNP aren't 'remain' parties.

And no one appears to be allaying any fears, or closing divides, or sorting out confusion either TM (a remainer) seems to be doing a pretty good job of negotiating a softer Brexit that works for everyone, except the extremists. Unfortunately extreme remainers have no interest in compromise.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 19:26

What exactly does “getting our country back”mean? I wasn’t aware it was lost or stolen. What difference can I expect on 1 April 2019?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 19:28

May has negotiated nothing. The can has been kicked down the road.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 20/04/2018 19:38

Oh Ghost, you love to play dumb. Even you know what taking back controls of our laws, borders and money means. The EU never 'stole' these things we initially allowed them to take them and subsequently never stopped them from taking more.

Come 1 April 2019 the difference will be that we are no longer in the EU and the transition will start implementing transfer of power back to the UK which will be completed in 2020.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/04/2018 19:41

Borders? You mean the one in NI you can’t be arsed to control?
