To wish fab Nicola was our PM

Her thoughts this morning

My first thoughts this morning are with service personnel called to action. Syria’s use of chemical weapons is sickening - but the question that the PM has not answered is how this action, taken without parliamentary approval, will halt their use or bring long term peace. #Syria

YABU and one of the most ludicrous thread titles I have ever read on mumsnet.

t3rr3gl35 · 14/04/2018 09:45

Please take her off our hands - Nicola Sturgeon should FOTTFSOFTFOSM. Can't get past "fab"....maybe it's an acronym?

user2375 · 14/04/2018 09:46

God no. Nicola Sturgeon is awful.

Igneococcus · 14/04/2018 09:46

lettucewrap
I'm ringing my GP on Monday, I had already planned to. i need to be able to plan my life and my work.
I'm in a rural part of Scotland and that doesn't help of course. They have moved services away from the small local hospital to Glasgow and tried to keep it quiet that this is happening too. I had 8 trips to Glasgow last year for medical appointments, 3 hours by train each way). I'm 52, I drive or usually I take the train and work on the way there and back, I work for a very supportive company, I'm ok but for some of the older people or people whose work isn't too happy about day-long trips for a 10 min appointment with a consultant, this is really difficult having to go to Glasgow for many procedures now.
I know rural areas are expensive to maintain infrastructure but we are important to many economic activities in Scotland, from tourism to salmon farming, renewable energy, forestry,... Scotland can't really afford if its rural areas loose more people and people, especially young people, will move away if health care is difficult to access and don't get me started on our high school.

Don’t even know where to begin, she targeted people who had nothing to lose by voting, what about the hard working business owners, not everyone can vote with their heart, some of us have a brain. Yes our government might not be the best but they are not fucking nuking us. How much money have we given to third world countries?? They are in a worst state because of their corrupt ‘politicians’

Redglitter · 14/04/2018 09:46

Believe me shes anything but fab. God thought of her being PM would be a nightmare

boymum9 · 14/04/2018 09:47

Hmm god no!

Drum71 · 14/04/2018 09:48

Nope, just no. Never ever, no. No.

Redact · 14/04/2018 09:51

I am not a member of the SNP, but still think NC is a very competent politician. Yes she makes mistakes (we all do) and Scotland is not nirvana. But she has a cool, sensible head on her shoulders, and her heart is in the right place, both of which count for a lot. After the Brexit result, she looked like the only grown up in the room.
I agree with the above Ocelot41 and also what Lettucewrap said and I am Scottish living in Scotland.

Redglitter · 14/04/2018 09:52

Why are people so negative about such a thoughtful and passionate educated women

Hmm I really can't think why......

MrsMollyMooMoo · 14/04/2018 09:53

Hahahahahaha

Barbaro · 14/04/2018 09:54

You want someone as pm who thinks it's a good idea to give our fire service 4 more jobs on top of what they already do for a tiny pay increase, and thinks its OK to waste £300k on getting more women into politics while our schools and hospitals crumble? My local hospital doesn't gave a childrens ward anymore. Some of the local schools don't have heating and have leaks from the roof.

Yeah that's a fantastic idea.

Thing is Nicola doesn't have to make these decisions so of course she can be against the decision but if she was faced with it what would she do... Nobody wants to actually bomb anywhere really

CackleCrackle · 14/04/2018 10:05

Yes NS doesn’t have to make the tough decisions and if Scotland were independent nobody would be interested so it is meaningless bloviation - an SNP speciality.

Maybe people are looking beyond her gender and at her policies and her as a person and don’t like what they see?

MrsJayy · 14/04/2018 10:08

My last statement made no sense there is plenty of people bomb.

Willow2017 · 14/04/2018 10:11

Oh and they all have gaelic so can read the 'waste of money' road signs!
Southern Scotland doesnt speak Gaelic so all our signs are a complete waste of money.

Our school has been advertising for more teachers for months. My sons cant do certain subjects due to lack of teachers and size of classes. There just arent enough teachers left in Scotland to go round as they are leaving the profession/not training.
Its s disgrace.

ocelot41 · 14/04/2018 10:11

What Delphinius said - I am Scottish and returned after 15 years Down South for work. Our DS has mild SN and the support he gets is awesome (4 x weekly extra specialised tuition, ed psych and OT support when needed, CAHMS waiting lists much shorter, way shorter waiting lists for treatmenr for physical symptoms) All free of charge at point of service - we pay more in tax and I am happy to do it. Much more in line with my politics that those who have, give more.

Oldbutstillgotit · 14/04/2018 10:14

DD has had her appointment to see a Neurologist postponed twice. We are now looking to go private. And don’t start me about the utter hash they are making with their new Social Security Dept...

Hardly anyone in the Highlands speaks gaelic either but we even have it on our police vans now. I saw a poster on day that was only in gaelic, just made me think how pointless as no one will know what you're on about.

And yeah on the teachers. They can't learn computing in some schools up here as they have no computing teachers. Bit stupid since computing is becoming a big industry and is only getting bigger. But let's insistent on teaching kids a dying and pointless language, stupid government.

ocelot41 · 14/04/2018 10:17

Sorry to hear that Old, that's really tough Flowers

CackleCrackle · 14/04/2018 10:22

And just to reiterate, Scotland has more money at present because of RUK tax money flowing into Scotland, not because the Scots that have more are paying more, although I am glad to see that the SNP have finally gotten serious about raising taxes a bit...

MrsJayy · 14/04/2018 10:22

To be fair on Snp we have had Gaelic Signage since devolution Nicola didn't personally go round putting the signs up

celtiethree · 14/04/2018 10:29

I’m Scottish and live in Scotland. I couldn’t imagine anything worse. Education standards are falling rapidly, expensive universal initiatives that are just not required - baby boxes!! The complete mess of Higher Education which means that Scottish students are disadvantaged when applying for Scottish Universities. Just waiting for the Named Person scheme to rear it’s ugly head again.

JessicaJonesJacket · 14/04/2018 10:30

I don't think any of the current party leaders would have bombed Syria except Theresa May (and Ruth who is following the party line). Choosing to bomb facilities the day before the weapons' inspectors arrive and without recalling parliament are both reprehensible decisions.
I'm sure supporters of certain parties would love the opportunity to criticise Nicola but it's not her or anyone else who is sending our servicemen to bomb Syria. It's firmly Theresa May's responsibility and that's where the focus should be today - on a leader who refused to recall parliament; on a leader who decided to bomb facilities rather than allow weapons' inspectors to start their task.
