Her thoughts this morning

My first thoughts this morning are with service personnel called to action. Syria’s use of chemical weapons is sickening - but the question that the PM has not answered is how this action, taken without parliamentary approval, will halt their use or bring long term peace. #Syria

The nawbaggery on this thread is spectacular Grin

Amanduh · 16/04/2018 23:37

Eeewwwww. No. No. No 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 17/04/2018 00:09

You'd better believe it @DontDrinkDontSmoke

Horrible divisive politics and party. Niklah needs to concentrate on getting education, NHS, emergency services etc back to what they were instead of being a kiddy on stateswoman by having a junket to China.

SNP are all fart and nae shite. No then, no now and no always.

Bramble71 · 17/04/2018 01:24

YABU in my opinion.

Having lived up here in Scotland for a number of years, I can see she is concerned with only one thing. Independence. She's hateful, does little to denounce the sectarianism which exists here and leads a minority government which seems to have passed very little legislation in the time I've been here.

She is all talk and no action; very ineffective overall. She'd be an awful PM.

Picasso101 · 17/04/2018 16:39

From what I understand, speaking to lawyers who work in public services - eg Procurator Fiscals. The legislation that has been passed is pretty badly written anyway. Possibly it’s a blessing in disguise.

She’s very self serving. I wonder if all the SNP are even happy with her?

cheeseandcrackers77 · 17/04/2018 18:27

I understand many in the SNP do not like her as the leader. I work with someone who thinks the SNP can do no wrong, are the best thing since sliced bread and should NEVER be talked bad of but she admits internally NS is disliked by many.

I can not stand her or her party. As a fully qualified solicitor I find it astounding so many of their ill thought out policies breach laws (the information sharing part of the named person act breached human rights) and was apparantly only a minor issue to resolve yet we are some 18 months gone and no indication they have managed to fix this so called minor error. Mind you they are probably still trying to work out how they can blame Westminster, the Tories and all us nasty no voters for this 🤔

cheeseandcrackers77 · 17/04/2018 18:29

I should point out i'm not a Solicitor I am referring above to NS being the qualified solicitor.

SusanneLinder · 17/04/2018 21:11

Actually that's incorrect. The Offensive Behaviour at Football Act was introduced to address that very thing and repealed as other parties didn't like it. It is also very difficult to deal with years of bigotry that have been ingrained for centuries.
No one has to like NS, but some of the comments on here have been pretty vile.
By the way, I am English living in Scotland, and think she is doing a pretty good job.

Ginger1982 · 17/04/2018 21:33

Offensive Behaviour at Football Act was ridiculous and unworkable.

OlennasWimple · 17/04/2018 21:41

Other Nicolas who would make better PMs than Nicola Sturgeon:

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 17/04/2018 21:53

If Scottish Parliament votes to get rid of denominational schools, then sectarianism would be pretty much eradicated within a couple of generations. Never mind lip service by banning idiots from singing their songs at the football.
Half of them probably don't even know the background history to most of their songs and chants anyway.

BrashCandicoot · 17/04/2018 22:45

Would it? Sectarianism has far more to do with football than it does schooling. This year marks 100 years of Catholic state education in Scotland, and if you don't realise why it was such a big deal I would suggest that you don't understand sectarianism.

BearFoxBear · 18/04/2018 11:10

"... being a kiddy on stateswoman by having a junket to China." You really don't understand why she was there, but it was and will be hugely beneficial to Scotland. Can't say any more without outing myself!

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 18/04/2018 11:43

It's pandas for the zoo @BearFoxBear isn't it? 🐼

Picasso101 · 18/04/2018 12:24

More steel?

CackleCrackle · 18/04/2018 14:36

clearly any junket to China must've been to recruit more overseas high fee paying students for our under funded Scottish universities. That'll be it. Scottish students can't get in, but we love ones that pay huge fees.

Oh and pandas.

Picasso101 · 18/04/2018 16:12

Yes, because although we should all be so grateful for free fees, what is not advertised so widely is that the numbers of places for Scots gets less and less. And the Uni’s are being starved of money. We would be better paying something

QueenLaBeefah · 18/04/2018 16:19

Also the budgets for colleges have been slashed to the bone for free university tuition.

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 18/04/2018 19:23

I agree @BrashCandicoot re the football breeding sectarianism.

I simply think that if all kids were educated in one school in their communities and if religion were to be kept as a matter for home and place of worship, as is now becoming more common in Northern Ireland, then we would see a huge decline in sectarian type behaviour.

Interestingly, as a teacher and person of good moral standing but not affiliated to any religion, I'd be ineligible to apply for a promoted post in a Catholic school....that's not right in the 21st Century

SaltireSaltire · 18/04/2018 19:58

QueenoftheSilverDollar
It would take a lot more to rid sectarianism in parts of Scotland than that. You’d have to stop trouble makers pouring over from Northern Ireland to Old Firm games, bringing their tribalism with them. You’d have to outlaw wholly sectarian organisations like the Orange Order parading their hatred round the streets every year celebrating a Northern Ireland battle in the 17th Century!

There are more integrated schools in England, but it hasn’t stopped racism thriving in some areas. Schools have a lot less influence on children, despite their best efforts, than examples set in the home.

Picasso101 · 18/04/2018 20:56

I grew up in Glasgoe, and was very aware of sectarianism. Have lived elsewhere in Scotland - much further North - for years and never been aware of it. Is it genuinely a Scotland problem? Or just limited to some areas?

JessicaJonesJacket · 18/04/2018 22:24

It's not a Scotland problem. It is isolated to certain areas.

SaltireSaltire · 18/04/2018 22:35

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/scottish-town-where-green-is-beyond-the-pale-981747.html

Some areas worse than others. Not all areas but working class areas have it worse.

Sausagema · 18/04/2018 22:55

quite apart from the Indy issue, which tbh, most people are too weary of incessant poll taking to want to vote on again, the Scottish government seem to be fucking things up spectacularly and no one has notoced. and they are wild about centralisation of everything. After the roaring success of Police Scotland, somehow they have not been put off and I thibk they are away to amalgamate all the health boards into 3 super health boards. it's an absolute disaster waiting to happen as they won't have learned anything from the police mess.
