Mine's 13...apparently I'm terrible parent because I offered her the meal she really loved up until today...it was a steak sandwich on crusty bread with a side salad.

Last week this was "amazing" and "my favourite"

Tonight I told her I was making it again and she said OH NO I HATE THAT!!!!

Hmm

I said...well you could have some stir fried noodles?

No. She wanted a certain dish from our local Chinese takeaway.

I said no.

DH said yes...and offered her the cash to go and buy it.

That's evil too though. We should apparently go for her in the car as it's AGES AWAY! TOO FAR!

It's a 5 minute walk.

She's now sitting in her room, hating us and refusing anything.

I'm ignoring.

I'm doing a meal plan and shopping list for the next week. I asked if there's anything in particular she'd like to have, maybe something she hasn't had for a while? Treats, lunch boxey goodies? Apparently I'm not spontaneous and fuss too much!

VoluptuaSneezelips · 10/04/2018 15:06

I love this thread.
My 17 year old DD hates me because I asked if she enjoyed her first day at her work placement yesterday - apparently Im always prying, I need to fuck off and get a life or a hobby or something. My response as always when told that was How shall I fuck off, oh lord?

theredjellybean · 10/04/2018 15:16

My dd2's boyfriend hates me (he is 18) Cus apparently I have far too close a relationship with dd2... Yes mate... Jog on your potentially controlling, twatty, self obsessed teenage boy child....

theredjellybean · 10/04/2018 15:17

Dd2 agrees he is twatty and self absorbed but she lurvvvvesss him....

PoppySeedRoll · 10/04/2018 15:45

Mine hates me because I was watching a Jamie Oliver programme and said I might make one of the recipes later. Lots of sighing and slow head shaking and and eye rolling. It’s only chicken in barbecue sauce!

DullAndOld · 10/04/2018 15:48

Daughter is coming for something to eat and to spend the night later, and son phoned and we had a good long chat...

Mind you they are 19....when i look back to three/four/five years ago, it's been hellish...

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 10/04/2018 16:00

Platypus DD 10 already knows everything and is never wrong about anything. I'm doomed, aren't I? SadGin

extinctspecies · 10/04/2018 16:30

..because he looked himself out of the house when I was 2 hours away. It's my fault because I asked him to take the dog out, and should have known he wouldn't take his keys with him, because they are with his car key which he didn't need, even though I reminded him yesterday - that doesn't count because it was on the phone, obviously.

He is 19, not a teenager for much longer...

Largepiecesofcrookedwood · 10/04/2018 17:15

Today I'm i the good books
I have relented in my "DS will learn to read a map properly before DoE" mission and agreed our mini expedition would be better timed for later in the year because my back hurts
Instead I have (in a moment of obvious mental eclipse) somehow managed to agree to take him to IKEA- this makes DS very happy and me rather disappointed in my temporary weakness.
He is however in a good mood with me so all is not lost Confused

mikeyssister · 10/04/2018 21:36

I hate my mad teenager. Apparently it's now my fault she lied to me.

I give up and I'm now enjoying a nice long sulk. I've earnt it and I'm determined to enjoy it.

Butterflybelly · 11/04/2018 12:51

I’ll back. My teenager hates me today because I asked him to revise for his exams. Why bother now he says when he’s going to fail anyway. My Head is firmly banging against a brick wall!!!

Ohforfoxsakereturns · 11/04/2018 16:43

My DS (15) hates me because I want to know a) where he is b) with who and c) what he is doing later when ‘i’m going out and will probably stay at someone’s house’ doesn’t cut it.

No sunshine. You go out when I say you can go out. And some vague ‘staying at someone’s house’? Nope. Nope. Nope.

Leeds2 · 11/04/2018 16:50

My DD has just turned 20. I am so enjoying reading this thread!

Frequency · 11/04/2018 16:55

I'm also in the good books.

I bought the younger one a fleece blanket from the sale in Wilkos (it doesn't take much to please her)

The older one and I went to a concert yesterday and oh mi god, Girli posted a picture of them together on her story. Oh mi god. We must phone the entire town immediately and tell them!

I'm not sure what the above means but if it's worthy of two oh mi gods, it's very good. Nothing gets two oh mi gods.

Stirner · 11/04/2018 17:05

@Andro - your son's right, he's not free babysitting!

8FencingWire · 18/04/2018 20:17

Because we went out for an icecream, didn’t want to, but never said anything because it would have upset me. I am hated for it, to the point I am not worthy of walking side by side. I am eating in the internet time, apparently, still doesn’t understand why I am so ‘pissy’ about internet curfew time.

I am resenting being a parent.

ItLooksABitOff · 18/04/2018 20:24

I knocked on the door and asked if I could get in the bathroom to finish getting ready. She spends eons in there doing god knows what

SootyandMathew · 22/04/2018 09:59

SHE LOVES ME!!!!!!! I've absolutely no idea why but I don't care she's smiling and laughing with me. Maybe it's the sunshine.

TonTonMacoute · 22/04/2018 10:01

He doesn’t (at the moment anyway) he’s just sent me a video of a little kitten - from his bed!
