DH cooked dinner tonight and had some sausages on his plate along with dinner. I commented on how strong they smelled and asked where he got them. He laughed and said “from the bin”.
Last night I was checking the fridge and at the back found a pack of leek sausages dated April 1st...the pack had swelled right up and bubbles were oozing out the side, so I threw them out. These are what he’s just eaten!
Now he burping away and I can’t believe he’s that thick!
AIBU to make him sleep with a bucket tonight Angry

SparklyMagpie · 06/04/2018 20:47

A big fat NOPE! Hmm

gingergenius · 06/04/2018 20:47

Oh my god. Tje only thing I can think of is that he's angling for time off work!!!

StaplesCorner · 06/04/2018 20:48

Why is it funny?

GirlsBlouse17 · 06/04/2018 20:48

JennyOnAPlate · 06/04/2018 20:48

BrutusMcDogface · 06/04/2018 20:48

Wtf!!?? He's going to be so ill. What a disgusting man.

littlebillie · 06/04/2018 20:50

Cooking Kills Bacteria

Salmonella contaminates meat when left at temperatures below 140 degrees, either unrefrigerated or undercooked. Salmonella causes salmonellosis, a disease resulting in abdominal cramps, fever and diarrhea. Cooking spoiled meat until it reaches 150 degrees Fahrenheit destroys Salmonella.
E. coli can grow in meat even when refrigerated or frozen. Cooking destroys the bacteria, but toxins usually remain in the meat, leaving it unsafe to eat. Inadequate heating or recontamination of the meat causes cramps, fever, intestinal problems and sometimes death.

Idbemonica1 · 06/04/2018 20:50

Have you got plenty of toilet rolls for after vomiting stops?

mcdog · 06/04/2018 20:51

Being serious, he should make himself vomit and very quickly.

Louche14 · 06/04/2018 20:51

What the fuck?

I am actually so lax when it comes to paying attention to dates on things.... nut fishing something that's so obviously rotten out of the bin is something else!

I could almost understand if he'd found them still in the fridge and thought "fuck it"... but why on earth would you take them out of the bin when they've clearly been flung out for a reason.

littlebillie · 06/04/2018 20:51

I would be very very worried. I had ecoli as a kid and it took months to recover. That was from dodgy fat on chip I still remember the pain and fear

magicstar1 · 06/04/2018 20:51

Not funny at all...I can’t even look at him at the moment.
He’s always been a bit lax with food. I’ve seen MIL cook bolognese on a Saturday morning and leave it in the pot on the hob until Sunday (I refused to eat it btw) but this is a new and disgusting low.

Oh my fucking god, that's hideously fascinating. Please would you update us on how long it takes for his body to succumb to the bacterial onslaught currently developing in his small intestine?

If you have a spare bathroom I'd shut him in it with a bucket and a duvet. He's going to be spending a lot of time in there.

CaptainBrickbeard · 06/04/2018 20:53

Why would anyone do that?!

kaytee87 · 06/04/2018 20:54

He's going to be very ill, he seriously should make himself sick

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 06/04/2018 20:55

I'm afraid your DH has competition for that title.

PlowerOfScotland · 06/04/2018 20:55

Is he taking the piss and they're different sausages? Were there any in the freezer?

TheImprobableGirl · 06/04/2018 20:55

@RadioDorothy with a duvet?! No dry-clean-only things going in with my pukey DH, he would have a tarpaulin and count himself lucky Grin

3luckystars · 06/04/2018 20:55

Meat aside, why is he eating food out of the bin?

RadioDorothy · 06/04/2018 20:56

Sorry magicstar didn't mean to be flippant. I think you might be in for a rough couple of days, maybe longer.

Then again...he might miraculously swerve any after effects! If he is consistently lax his immunity might be more robust than average. Although I'm not sure anyone would emerge from consuming rotting AND reheated pork unscathed.

StaplesCorner · 06/04/2018 20:56

So did you say to him there is no reason for him to eat from the bin?

littlebillie · 06/04/2018 20:57

I just read what he did with the meat today? Seriously it's beyond dangerous. I was reading why pork is so unpopular in many cultures and it is the mass risk of death. We have it rarely as it always worries me

AdoraBell · 06/04/2018 20:57

Shock 🤢 I think he should sleep in the bathroom.
