DH cooked dinner tonight and had some sausages on his plate along with dinner. I commented on how strong they smelled and asked where he got them. He laughed and said “from the bin”.
Last night I was checking the fridge and at the back found a pack of leek sausages dated April 1st...the pack had swelled right up and bubbles were oozing out the side, so I threw them out. These are what he’s just eaten!
Now he burping away and I can’t believe he’s that thick!
AIBU to make him sleep with a bucket tonight Angry

There was a thread here recently praising Iceland for something, I forget what it was now.

So, @weedsneeds1, the hot weather is upon us, and so are flies.
I hate flies. Am I unreasonable? If one gets into the kitchen I will disinfect all the surfaces and any crockery that has been out. I would never eat food that a fly has landed on. Am I overreacting?

That's a good one Sadie, I get proper angsty if a fly has been buzzing around the kitchen.

Yesterday, my colleague and I were offered a little box to take away some of the vast amount of leftover food from our seminar. He took some slices of cold ham, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel pieces and coleslaw, along with a bread roll. All had already been out for at least an hour. Box was placed in luggage.

We then spent about 40 mins on a warm bus, and another 90 minutes in a car - air con was on but the box was in the boot.

We went off to our separate hotels and he (informed me that he) consumed the roll and nicely warmed buffet food at around 7pm, approx 6 hours after it had first been set out.

I waited with interest to see if he'd had the raging shits overnight, but nope, he was and still is perfectly okay some 24 hrs later.

I'm impressed, you couldn't have paid me to eat that.

Sadie a fly landing in it, then eating straight after won't hurt, but if it's something that has been sitting out for some time with flies all over it, it's a high risk product ( cooked meat, cooked egg etc.) and it's not going to be cooked again before consumption, then yes there is a risk. Bacteria, mostly, need time, temperature, moisture to multiply.
A slice of bread wouldn't be much of a risk as relatively low moisture, but a chicken sandwich would.
