Totally prepared to be told I AIBU and I know it's a first world problem but my DF purchased DP and I a £100 voucher for Marco Pierre whites steakhouse for us to treat ourselves due to me being in and out of hospital since the beginning of December with abnormal cells found on cervix turning out to be CGIN and other issues with my womb.
We finally got around to booking last night to kind of celebrate the end of a shitty few months and I've only just read the small print. It expired on 31st March Sad
I called the restaurant to ask kindly if they would mind extending it due to circumstances the women that answered was kind and said that would be fine if I could send proof of results and hospital appointments (which I was happy to do.)
She's then gone of and spoken to the manager and manager has said point blank said no I should of told them this while it was going on. They now have £100 of my DF money and we have no amazing food Sad
We've been a few times previously and I loved it, that's why he bought it.
So AIBU in thinking they could of extended it for extra 2 weeks? I know it's my fault for not reading the small print.

That's dreadful! Twitter may be your friend...

Fruitcorner123 · 04/04/2018 18:49

That is crap OP. Get on twiter and challenge them and get all your followers to retweet. You want this to get as much publicity as possible.

pickledparsnip · 04/04/2018 18:50

I'm shocked they wanted copies of your appointments and results!

pickledparsnip · 04/04/2018 18:51

In fact I'm astounded by that! I'd have told them to get fucked.

Fruitcorner123 · 04/04/2018 18:51

I should of told them this while it was going on.

Pathetic.

You may be able to tweet Marco Pierre white himself.

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 18:52

That's awful 😱

guiltynetter · 04/04/2018 18:54

that is SO bad. definitely make a big fuss about it, twitter etc. how gutting :(

iTonya · 04/04/2018 18:54

When did your DF buy the voucher?

NapQueen · 04/04/2018 18:55

When was it purchased? Sounds like an incredibly short expiration period.

BakedBeans47 · 04/04/2018 18:55

YANBU

They’ve already got the money, what skin is it off their nose?

I agree with getting it on social media.

frasier · 04/04/2018 18:55

That’s bloody awful.

Facebook, Twitter etc

Catspaws · 04/04/2018 18:55

Tweet MPW himself and I bet it gets sorted! Totally shit on their part, YANBU to expect better!

treaclesoda · 04/04/2018 18:55

You may be able to tweet Marco Pierre white himself.

Yes, he's got a reputation for being a really nice bloke, he'll help Wink

SlowlyShrinking · 04/04/2018 18:58

That’s rubbish customer service. To make you prove you’d been ill in the first place is pretty low, but then to move the goalposts when you’d done what they asked Hmm

Henrysmycat · 04/04/2018 19:00

Horrific service. Tweet and FB him and his page.

Snazzy · 04/04/2018 19:02

Bloody hell. Get on social media and challenge this. How awful. Asking for your results etc is way out of line. I do hope you get it resolved and would definitely comment and retweet if you do post on Twitter.

arethereanyleftatall · 04/04/2018 19:02

Yanbu.
I can't see that this is a situation where it makes any difference when you use the voucher.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 04/04/2018 19:03

They wanted you to send your private medical results? What the fuck?

Thisnamechanger · 04/04/2018 19:04

Yes, he's got a reputation for being a really nice bloke

He definitely hasn't unfortunately!

PinkAvocado · 04/04/2018 19:04

It absolutely won’t cost them anything more in time or money to honour it now rather than last week and under the circumstances they are being exceptionally tight. YANBU at all. Hope they honour it with a bottle of something lovely on top.

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 19:04

DF has said it was purchased in December, so I think it was a 3 month expiry, rounding it up to March 31st due to Christmas. I'm kicking myself I didn't read the small print! But I genuinely thought if DF is handing over £100 in cash the expiry wouldn't be ridiculous and in all honesty it was something at the front of my mind with everything going on.
I would tweet but I've got 6 followers Blush

YANBU. Hope you get sorted and hope all is ok with you now.

lizzlebizzle33 · 04/04/2018 19:05

I agree, social media shame them!! How awful of them, why would it even need to expire? Ridiculous.

leccybill · 04/04/2018 19:06

It wasn't via Groupon was it? We've had a similar sort of issue via Groupon - they refused to refund, we got as far as mentioning small claims court and then they refunded.

treaclesoda · 04/04/2018 19:06

This name I know! I was being sarcastic.Smile I've read his autobiography Shock Nice bloke wouldn't be the description I'd use.
