Totally prepared to be told I AIBU and I know it's a first world problem but my DF purchased DP and I a £100 voucher for Marco Pierre whites steakhouse for us to treat ourselves due to me being in and out of hospital since the beginning of December with abnormal cells found on cervix turning out to be CGIN and other issues with my womb.
We finally got around to booking last night to kind of celebrate the end of a shitty few months and I've only just read the small print. It expired on 31st March Sad
I called the restaurant to ask kindly if they would mind extending it due to circumstances the women that answered was kind and said that would be fine if I could send proof of results and hospital appointments (which I was happy to do.)
She's then gone of and spoken to the manager and manager has said point blank said no I should of told them this while it was going on. They now have £100 of my DF money and we have no amazing food Sad
We've been a few times previously and I loved it, that's why he bought it.
So AIBU in thinking they could of extended it for extra 2 weeks? I know it's my fault for not reading the small print.

When was that Kizzy?

KizzyBear · 08/04/2018 00:35

Friday morning. I'm trying to be nice and giving them time to reply but they only seem to when people mention them on twitter. They might be hoping for it all to quiet down so I don't pester them Grin

It will not quieten down against the power of MN! I am from Birmingham and will print off this entire thread and plaster it all over their doors (I won’t, but I’m with you in spirit) Grin You are going to get your meal back though. I assure you.

saladfingers · 08/04/2018 19:45

Time for some retweeting MN

KizzyBear · 08/04/2018 20:21

Haha @MissionItsPossible Wink
I've just noticed people have started retweeting again GrinWink

Oh that's rubbish Kizzy. I've still gone off them following this latest show of poor customer service. I'm in Birmingham too, so a potential customer who would now go elsewhere.

CarrieBradshawsScrunchie · 09/04/2018 13:24

Quite shocking they have still not honoured the voucher. What are they playing at??

billyt · 09/04/2018 17:00

We have one very close to us that my daughters suggested for my birthday at the end of this month. Glad I said no thanks. That'll be ten diners they won't be getting.

They seem to have the same attitude as Jamie Oliver. He spouts all the time about great food yet his restaurants regularly fail to deliver.(In my case anyway, before everyone jumps on me) No wonder they are struggling.

And even if you do get your meal OP won't it be a tad tainted that you had to provide very, very personal information(even though they should never have asked for it in the first place) and forced them to provide it.

I for one wouldn't think about using an over-price, over-hyped MPW restaurant.

MissionItsPossible · 09/04/2018 18:52

They still haven’t honoured this? I am shocked. What’s the latest @KizzyBear?

KizzyBear · 09/04/2018 22:17

Well still no reply after sending date and names for the table booked but if a piss take and yes it does feel kind of tainted.
They aren't replying and I've got a horrible feeling we will go and they will go back on their word and we have to stump up the bill. We usually drive over but seeing as DF saved us money thought we'd make a night of it and book a hotel.

MissionItsPossible · 10/04/2018 00:41

No, don’t go before they have confirmed and you have it in writing! At the Very least they should be honouring the gift. If I had Twitter I would be shame tweeting them right now and would encourage others to do so also.

Quantumblue · 10/04/2018 00:48

Late to the party but have retweeted.

AlistairAppletonssexyscarf · 10/04/2018 08:17

I would think about tweeting some of the active food critics on Twitter with this. Jay Rayner, Marina O'Loughlin, Grace Dent for starters. They have huge numbers of foodie followers and may retweet for you.

TaytoAllDay · 10/04/2018 12:18

YaNbu!! Tweet & shame, social media this. So unfair. Would have been such a nice gesture from his restaurant to you after having a shitty time. xx

KizzyBear · 10/04/2018 15:00

Someone retweeted it with most of those food critics tagged in which was brilliant but nothing came of that.
I've emailed them using the email address they provided but it's been sent back saying the domain does not exist so I've gone back to DM'ing the Birmingham branch on twitter to see if anything comes from them.

OP posts:
KizzyBear · 10/04/2018 15:01

I picked up a new dress yesterday in the sale, they better honour it now. 🙄😆

OP posts:
KizzyBear · 10/04/2018 15:12

I think it's been resolved now, my DM worked rather than email.
Thankyou, you lovely lot. I'll make sure I'll toast to you lot on Saturday night WineGin

Hooray! Glad you've got it sorted.

(Make sure you take a screen shot of the message with you just in case they play silly buggers on the day)

Have a lovely time!

Iseesheep · 10/04/2018 20:46

I’m glad you’ve got it sorted. Have a fab night!

We have one of MPWs places within walking distance. Every time I go I swear I won’t go back! My experience is the opposite to the OPs though. Customer service absolutely great, can’t do enough for you. Food very average at best. It’s a shame they can’t get both right at the same time!
