Totally prepared to be told I AIBU and I know it's a first world problem but my DF purchased DP and I a £100 voucher for Marco Pierre whites steakhouse for us to treat ourselves due to me being in and out of hospital since the beginning of December with abnormal cells found on cervix turning out to be CGIN and other issues with my womb.
We finally got around to booking last night to kind of celebrate the end of a shitty few months and I've only just read the small print. It expired on 31st March Sad
I called the restaurant to ask kindly if they would mind extending it due to circumstances the women that answered was kind and said that would be fine if I could send proof of results and hospital appointments (which I was happy to do.)
She's then gone of and spoken to the manager and manager has said point blank said no I should of told them this while it was going on. They now have £100 of my DF money and we have no amazing food Sad
We've been a few times previously and I loved it, that's why he bought it.
So AIBU in thinking they could of extended it for extra 2 weeks? I know it's my fault for not reading the small print.

out of principle we should all boycott sorry i know u like its there op

if you tweet id happy to retweet it got over a thounsa ndfolowers-not bragging its taken long enough!

CookPassBabtridge · 04/04/2018 20:16

Disgusting. I'd understand if it was a deal/money off voucher from the restaurant but not when your dad has paid for the value of it. Surely it shouldn't have an expiry on it!

MammaTJ · 04/04/2018 20:17

I would tweet but I've got 6 followers

You tweet @ them, then all their followers see it. I set up my twitter purely to complain to companies and it has worked well so far. I may also follow some celebs! Grin

TheFormidableMrsC · 04/04/2018 20:18

OP it doesn't matter how many followers you have. Search Marco Pierre White on Twitter, on his page you can "tweet to". Tweet him directly and be clear on the situation. You can make a thread by replying to your first tweet if 280 characters aren't enough. Certainly asking to see your medical stuff is an outrageous intrusion. I am sure everybody here can help you compose a tweet. I would put something along the lines of :

"I hope you can help. A voucher that was gifted to us at Christmas has expired. We were unaware of this. The reason we could not claim it before now was vital medical treatment. I was asked by one of your managers to produce proof of this and was still refused"

I am rushing as I have to get son into bed, but it's a start!

I am a prolific Twitter user...it gets results! Good luck.

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 20:19

I'm only 26 and I can't work Twitter! 😂

4yearsnosleep · 04/04/2018 20:19

I've retweeted for you but I think it'll get faster results if you explain the issue rather than link to here x

Pfftkids · 04/04/2018 20:21

I've only got 5 followers on twitter. I set it up to lodge a complaint with Ikea, they replied within 10 mins and sorted it out for me. Get on there! I'm going to use it to sort everything out from now on

Pfftkids · 04/04/2018 20:22

Aww shouldn't have jumped to the end of the thread 😂 good for you. Hopefully they will see it soon

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 04/04/2018 20:29

Don’t start the tweet with @hisusername, start it with Hi @hisusername

PuppyMonkey · 04/04/2018 20:30

Tweeting @ xxx doesn’t mean all their followers see the tweet. All your followers will see it though. You can #marcopierrebirmingham or whatever and more people might see it?

I can’t find you or the tweet Rusty, what’s your user name?

Cornishclio · 04/04/2018 20:32

Bombard them on social media. Not just twitter. Most restaurants have a facebook page which may be seen more widely. I really cannot understand the managers logic. With most vouchers/gifts there is a year to use it, not just 3 months.

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 20:33

Looking through twitter I don't think he's personally got an account I think it's @MPWresturants
I'm not sure though, Twitter totally baffles me Confused

Sorry I mean Kizzy not Rusty

Didiusfalco · 04/04/2018 20:40

That's rubbish Op, I'm in Birmingham and this would definitely put me off, there are so many other nice restaurants.

How about Purnells Bistro? that is near some really nice bars such as the Alchemist and the Botanist or the Ivy is opening on Temple Row on the 11th - I don't know about the food, but it looks lovely inside.

Honestly, if this doesn't work out fuck 'em - I wouldn't give them any more of your money.

KalindaBlack · 04/04/2018 20:44

They have treated you terribly OP. I would definitely take this further as everybody else is suggesting.

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 20:44

I was at the botanist on Saturday with friends it was lovely, I'm only in Coventry, so it's not a big trip away but I was looking forward to it just us two and a lie in. 2 year old doesn't sleep Sad

Have you tweeted? I'll go find it and retweet, I have quite a few followers

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 20:45

Yes it's @slurredlinesXX 😊

OP posts:
EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 04/04/2018 20:47

I know in the grand scheme of things it's only dinner
It's not though is it. It's someone pays them £100 and in return gets NOTHING.

In other circumstances that's known as robbery.

Wishing you well OP.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 04/04/2018 20:49

Think this is the right account? @MPWRestaurants
If you tweet, I’ll retweet. I’ve got a few followers and have had success with complaints on Twitter in the past.

RavenLG · 04/04/2018 20:49

It would be in their benefit for them to last longer surely?
This is why they do it, it means they have got £100 and not had to do anything basically. Its gross tactics.

I kind of understand asking for some proof of unavailability (having in the past worked in CS where vouchers were used, I've heard all the fake stories in the world and you kind of have to have a solid stance as you'd be constantly agreeing to take old vouchers) but you do have to treat people as humans and agreeing to extend after showing appointment cards is awful.

There are a million better places to eat in Birmingham OP! I've only been to the one in Leicester and it was horrible. Cannellini was so small and the ribs were dry as sticks! Hope you (DF) gets money back and you have a fab belated birthday Flowers

MissMildred · 04/04/2018 20:53

Have retweeted with a message. Hope you get the outcome you want - the manager is being unsympathetic and ridiculous. It would stop me from eating there....

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 04/04/2018 20:54

I have retwote for you. :)

GabsAlot · 04/04/2018 20:55

ive retwweeted and followed you kizzy

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 20:56
