To ask how much you are paying for your Summer holiday?

How much do you/are you paying for your Summer holiday? What will you be doing? Abroad, UK, camping or hotel or cottage etc. How long for?

I just want to know if my holidays are very expensive.

The last few years we've been going to the same place and renting fab little cottages, the location is ideal for us and the places we've rented have been lovely, home from home.

A few people have been shocked at how much we've paid but I think they are kidding themselves to think you'd get equivalent in the school holidays for any less.

We have a 1.5 yr old so do little and often holidays, so May time we go somewhere warm but not roasting (this year it's AI in lanzarote for £1.1k) then we do something fun in Oct/Nov time too- last year it was New York for 5 nights. Was fun with a pre walking baby but wouldn't do it now with a toddler!

Saz1995 · 04/04/2018 07:11

I'm not going this year, I have a little one who is 1 in August so we are going to use the money for his birthday instead :)

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 04/04/2018 07:14

£600 for flights and two adults in an Air Bnb in the French Alps

Ginnotgym · 04/04/2018 07:18

Not really summer as going in May - £6k - 10 days at Disney World staying on site (Animal Kingdom) inc dining plan. My husband, my 4yo and I.

TrickyD · 04/04/2018 07:35

We are retired and enjoy holidays both on our own and with the family. As usual we will be taking two DSs, the DP of one and four grandchildren age between 1year and 25 to the Caribbean in summer. It is a hotel they all love, lots of things to do to keep everyone happy.
£14,466 for the nine of us.

Mercison · 04/04/2018 07:36

4k on a week in mallorca. Villa 2k,flights 2k

Then hoping not to spend too much on food...

Mercison · 04/04/2018 07:37

That's for 5 of us

underneaththeash · 04/04/2018 07:39

we have 3 nights at a nice hotel in Cornwall and then a week in a cottage. I think its around £3,500.

Justabadwife · 04/04/2018 07:41

We're going to Spain in June and it's cost us £1500 all inclusive for 2 adults and 1 DC.

Mercison · 04/04/2018 07:42

Switzerland in August for 10 days
Apartment 1200 belongs to a mate
Petrol
200 tunnel
We take tons of food and a few frozen meals
Ride bikes, go up the cable car, swim in the public open pool

Fab holiday and cheap for 5

CheeseGirl4 · 04/04/2018 08:00

£1600 on 3 weeks in Thailand and Cambodia just for me. That's for the main flight, three shorter flights between destinations and four different 4* hotels, I booked it all independently. Spending money for tons of activities, tours, food etc will be approx £1300.

MozzchopsThirty · 04/04/2018 08:03

I've paid £1300 for a week in Hong Kong in a nice hotel for may half term - me & 2 dcs

Then in august we're having a week in lake Garda apartment was £600 for 4 of us
Flights were about £170 each

I'm shocked at the prices some people pay for holidays 😱 4K for a week in Majorca!!!!!

I looked last night at center parcs for may half term and for 4 nights it's the same price as 7 nights in Hong Kong 🤣🤣 seriously bonkers

NeverTwerkNaked · 04/04/2018 08:04

£250 for a week in Cornwall in a cottage in August for 6 of us. We are incredibly lucky that my aunt owns it and let’s us stay for what is really just a token amount!
My kids dad takes them on really expensive holidays but they always love this one just as much.

SnooSigh · 04/04/2018 08:06

£1800 to hire a cottage in Devon for a week.

ablatant · 04/04/2018 08:09

Nothing. None.

Still, luckier than a lot of people who can't even afford a home or food.

insancerre · 04/04/2018 08:13

Just booked a villa in menorca for £900 for a week on TripAdvisor
Add flights of 600
So £1500 for the 2 of us
Then whatever we spend day to day

Ruthlessrooster · 04/04/2018 08:15

150,000 for a villa in Antibes with a personal butler
Fuck me these threads are shit

Couldn't agree more

Anxiouschild · 04/04/2018 08:16

Eurocamp, south of France, in a static caravan chalet. 2 adults and 2 preschoolers, 9 nights (plus 2 more on the ferry) just before the school hols start. Really nice campsite with good facilities. Accommodation, ferry, tolls, and petrol will be £1500 plus I expect another £500 in spending money.

We are also doing 2 nights camping (in a tent this time) next month which will be around £150 including food and petrol, and may go again, but to a different site, in August for 3 nights also at a total cost of around £150.

Mercison · 04/04/2018 08:21

*'m shocked at the prices some people pay for holidays 😱 4K for a week in Majorca!!!!!"

Flights are 2k and impossible to get any cheaper for 5 adults without changing twice and spending 12 hours getting there or leaving from the other end if the country at 2am. Villa is luxy with a heated pool.

Having 5 adult aged people makes things more expensive

thecatspyjamass · 04/04/2018 08:21

5k for 4 adults & 3 kids.

We got a great deal with kids free, I checked few weeks after booking and price was up at 8.5k 😕

Fijisky · 04/04/2018 08:22

£3,800 all in for 2 weeks all inclusive in Mexico, cancun for 4. 2 adults and 2 children, although the children are the same price as the adults. That also included a 5% discount so would of been 4K.

But we are taking the kids out of school as there young so saved a lot of money that way.

Mercison · 04/04/2018 08:23

And, if its anyone's business, we've not been away for 5 years and my beloved aunt died and left me the money. I'll be sitting in my luxury villa raising a glass to her and not worrying about the money.

Fijisky · 04/04/2018 08:25

MozzchopsThirty - I looked up the price of centre parks for later in the year and was shocked!

Middleoftheroad · 04/04/2018 08:26

Just booked a week long 3k cruise France/Spain for 2 adults and 2 12yr olds (adult prices) on Royal Caribbean. Not been away or any long weekends/day trips for a year so cant wait. We do have to buy drinks on top though and factor in stops at ports (hoping they can provide packed lunch - or I will revisit my making up rolls at breakfast failsafe Grin)

It's the most we've spent in one go but we've had a testing year.

Wanted to go via coach in May half term as the price is great (few years ago 1500 all inclusive Thomson platinum hotel to spain which was great value)

A couple of years ago we bought Eurostar tickets to France and went to a basic canpsite for a week and it cost 3k - and we were basically just eating baguettes. So I do think the how much are you paying question should factor in all spends - it all adds up even when you think it's on a budget. We've done Cornwall a bit but still averaged 2k for a soggy week.

Vanessatiger · 04/04/2018 08:27

Southern France, dh and me, 2 DC and 2 DSS. All in I think about £12k. Not including spending money from food and drinks. But total includes activities such as sailing and diving for the DSS. And car rental (a van), and staying at family friendly resorts. We’re going from place to place for about 15 days. Also includes all air tickets.
