To ask how much you are paying for your Summer holiday?

How much do you/are you paying for your Summer holiday? What will you be doing? Abroad, UK, camping or hotel or cottage etc. How long for?

I just want to know if my holidays are very expensive.

The last few years we've been going to the same place and renting fab little cottages, the location is ideal for us and the places we've rented have been lovely, home from home.

A few people have been shocked at how much we've paid but I think they are kidding themselves to think you'd get equivalent in the school holidays for any less.

OP posts:

2 adults + 2 adult dc + 2 little dc = £3200 for 2 weeks all inclusive in turkey, but it's just outside school holidays.

We have never done AI so we are very excited

MujosMama · 03/04/2018 21:33

£1200 for an all inclusive week in Majorca, 2 adults and a (free!) baby. Includes transfers, luggage, parking at airport.

Mind you that's in June so out of school holidays

theSnuffster · 03/04/2018 21:35

Nothing, my Dad is kindly paying for us (2 adults 2 children) to join him and his wife for 2 nights camping near Weymouth in the summer holidays. I've never been camping (only at festivals) so I'm looking forward to trying something new.

We don't really have the spare cash for holidays, the most we have ever spent was about £400 for a long weekend in the Cotswolds in August and that was only because OH had a little bonus at work.

MrsAmaretto · 03/04/2018 21:36

£600 for ferry from Shetland to Aberdeen (& that’s with an islander discount, no wonder our friends don’t visit us!!!) then staying in various friends & families spare rooms

MelanieSmooter · 03/04/2018 21:36

All inclusive one week 3 people £3k in Ibiza in August

I need to walk out the front door jump in the taxi to the airport, hop off the flight, get dropped off at the Hotel then be completely looked after at the other end, no cooking no cleaning just heavenly bliss.

Lots of swimming, exploring, out door activities and time to chill out
etc love it. One week is more than enough.

MacaroniPenguin · 03/04/2018 21:47

2.7k one week Menorca, in August, AI in a one bed apartment, smallish 4* hotel.

We used to go to Cornwall but when we actually counted up what we'd spent including day trips, lots of meals out, supermarket shopping, wine it was costing us most of that already. Obviously it can be done cheaper, but we were spending at least £1.5k.

Clayhead · 03/04/2018 21:48

Holidays are such a personal choice and are always money well spent - no matter how small or large the budget.

Well put! Smile

feral · 03/04/2018 21:49

QuantamBaby · 03/04/2018 21:54

We are spending about £8k for 4 of us to do Disney in Florida for 18 days in August.

treaclesoda · 03/04/2018 21:54

About £1500 for a week in France. £500 accommodation, the rest on petrol and ferries. Need spending money on top of that.

AlonsosLeftPinky · 03/04/2018 21:54

One is 3 weeks road trip in the states. Won't know the actual cost til we get home as it's all ad hoc but we've budgeted £9k including flights.

The other is a week in the Caribbean which is £3.6k for the 2 of us.

Schnauzermum2 · 03/04/2018 21:54

@puppupboogie try speaking to ugly cruises they’re good at finding deals on cruises

Schnauzermum2 · 03/04/2018 21:55

Iglu not ugly cruises😂

MacaroniPenguin · 03/04/2018 21:56

So many variables too. Ours would have been cheaper flying from Stansted at silly o'clock, or Newcastle, but we don't live near either.

C'mon OP, your turn to share!

Tantpoke · 03/04/2018 22:00

I do though find it annoying though that the prices are so extortionate over the School summer holidays.

I used to have such dirt cheap holidays abroad when I snuck them out of School in June before it all got too strict.
We would just camp in the summer hols in the UK.

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 03/04/2018 22:07

On the Almalfi coast £2,500 for a week (6 of us), self catering, with our own pool.
Flights £800 (ish) used airmiles for part of it, two are paying for their flights so extra there.
Hotel night before flight £300 (2 rooms)
Parking £? Dh hasn't told me yet
Car hire £? Dh hasn't booked it yet

This year is Dh's holiday choice, we take it in turns since my choice became camping in France due to the fact we can take the dog. He wants both of our YA kids to come along with their friend and g/f, I've told him fine but I will be in holiday mode, we'll see how that works out.

Italy is beautiful mind and the food is fab I don't need that much convincing, just leaving the dog is horrible. He's staying with family, he'll be fine, if he'd have to go in kennels I'd not go, end of.

Dandellion · 03/04/2018 22:09

10 days in Biarritz in a 4* hotel with DH and DCs (they have their own room) £2300, doesn't include spending money. Long weekend away in October at a luxury barn conversion in Norfolk with family and friends £650 per couple (includes all meals prepared by chef, but we take our own drinks). Just booked 11 days in The Caribbean next March with DH and DCs staying in a villa with pool £5,300, but doesn't include spends.

elQuintoConyo · 03/04/2018 22:13

France €500 10 nights near Carcassone, 2 adults 1 dc. August.

MuncheysMummy · 03/04/2018 22:18

Around £3.5k for 2 adults and one child to South West Florida near the keys for 2 weeks. Includes flights and car hire and spending money but no accommodation costs as we stay in my parents house, if we didn’t that’d add another £4K!
We also will be going somewhere in September too and will only spend about £1800 on that one as just a week or 10 days in either Cyprus or Portugal.
