To ask how much you are paying for your Summer holiday?

How much do you/are you paying for your Summer holiday? What will you be doing? Abroad, UK, camping or hotel or cottage etc. How long for?

I just want to know if my holidays are very expensive.

The last few years we've been going to the same place and renting fab little cottages, the location is ideal for us and the places we've rented have been lovely, home from home.

A few people have been shocked at how much we've paid but I think they are kidding themselves to think you'd get equivalent in the school holidays for any less.

Self catering in the French Alps for a week. So far £750 for accommodation and crossing.
Still need to budget for tolls, fuel and food. So at least another £1000.
That's for 2 adults and a teen DS.

£0 we can't afford the kind of holiday my disabled dd requires. We've actually never been on holiday as a family. The kids have respite holidays though.

Mumtothelittlefella- were the same, we started holidaying last year, now it’s our biggest priority!

daffodildelight · 22/04/2018 12:32

We went to Dorset to a holiday cottage at Easter. £600 for a week.
We aim to go camping in the summer for a long weekend.

Go off peak and then have a stay at home holiday in the summer. Affordable and no need to take time out of school and make yet more work for our poor teachers!

£2k for 2 weeks in Devon in a Static, family of 4. People always pale when I tell them how much we pay for a uk holiday.

We did our big holiday in February, £6k (including all spends) for 2 weeks in Florida (Disneyworld) for 2 adults & 2 children

Mymadworld · 23/04/2018 21:41

£950 + spends for 2 adults & 2 dc to massive luxury villa in Spain with parents, siblings, nieces & nephews. This is just flights going at some ungodly hour plus cheapie car hire - my lovely parents pay for the villa and we go somewhere fabulous most years. To be fair, it's only seeing how much people spend that I'm reminded how lucky we are as there's no way we could afford to stay in such lovely places on our budget Grin

We usually budget £1,500 for spends to pay for 2 whole family (16 people ) meals out, a couple of lunches for the 4 of us plus some sort of activity for the kids but there's not really a budget for it this year so little as possible as we didn't think we were going so booked a week camping in France (£840 - £690 for the site and £150 euotunnel ) in August.

katand2kits · 23/04/2018 21:43

What standard of hotel? We were shocked at the price of holidays to Greece in general in June.

EatRepeatEatRepeat · 19/05/2018 16:50

£5500 for 5 of us All Inclusive for 2 weeks to an fabulous 4/5 * resort in Morocco in early August. We spend a similar amount every year on similar holidays but this is our first time outside of Europe. For us it’s totally worth the money and a priority for us as a family.
