To ask how much you are paying for your Summer holiday?

How much do you/are you paying for your Summer holiday? What will you be doing? Abroad, UK, camping or hotel or cottage etc. How long for?

I just want to know if my holidays are very expensive.

The last few years we've been going to the same place and renting fab little cottages, the location is ideal for us and the places we've rented have been lovely, home from home.

A few people have been shocked at how much we've paid but I think they are kidding themselves to think you'd get equivalent in the school holidays for any less.

Summer plan 2.5 weeks France (again), great campsite (hired mobile home), ferries, Euro breakdown recovery, so far £4100

£1300 for a week in a villa in the south of France in August. Price includes flights, car hire and our share of house we are sharibg with extended family.

£650 cottage, two bedrooms, August bank holiday week Northumberland. Maybe £90 petrol and a Sainsbury’s shop delivered with a few more treats than normal. Other big cost is the blooming cat @10 per night for the chattery. Good job we love her.

We probably won’t bother going away this summer . We went to Majorca last year for 10 days for 1200. The apartment was basic but newly renovated and clean .

I like being at home so holidays aren’t a must.

Shocked by the amounts people are paying £2k plus for a week or two abroad! Jesus!
£250 for a long weekend away just us the family unit. 4 weeks staying with family abroad for ‘free’ (pay for food, nights and days out of course). For £2k I would spend it on my house rather than a few weeks abroad. Don’t get it. Kids should be with family. Even in their teens. Had the best nights out with my cousins as young teens sharing a sneaky cider or two.

It’s ridiculous to be shocked. If people have money, why not spend it on family holidays? Isn’t that a lovely way to spend money?

Well obi! Lucky ole you having a freebie holiday abroad! Some of us have to pay for one and that's where the 2k comes in.

Obi - most people don't have family abroad they can stay with for 4 weeks, so saving them lots of money.

We are having a cheap holiday this year. Last year I did spend £1500 (including spending money) for the two of us on a week to Rhodes, because teens are charged at adult prices and thats what it costs in the school holidays

We knocked 450 off by flying from Edinburgh as Scottish schools go back mid August so flights are cheaper

well you’ll be shocked at us then, spending 2.2 k on a fortnight in Cornwall. Holiday cottage. We always go abroad but why bother when Cornwall is so damn beautiful?

£3k for 14nights in a 2 bed apartment in Orlando for 2a 2c, one who will be 16 so paying adult prices. Breakfast included. In June so beginning of school holidays (in Scotland)

Tbh I opened this expecting more of a reflection of what the average person who earns an average wage may spend. I am shocked that there are so many well-off people on here compared to the not-so.

£150 plus £85 for the ferry. Going to Duinrell in The Netherlands for 5 days, and was lucky to get a school holiday date on the Sun holidays promotion this year, as it would’ve cost the best part of a grand to book direct and that’s just not an option this year.

We mainly take our trailer tent to France for a few weeks in August. However this year we have booked a static caravan (or mobile home as they call it) 2 adults, 1 teen, 1 preteen.
It's costing £1200 for the accommodation and £300 for the ferry. Previously we've paid about £850 for a camping pitch and over £600 for ferry as when you tow it doubles the price.

I've always been a huge fan of camping but with kids getting older they are starting to occur adult prices now so it doesn't feel as good value as it did when they were both smaller. We also book hotels for the last night near the port so this adds on an extra £100 plus we like to hire a fridge for the time we camp which can be about another £100 or more.

I don't include things like break down cover in the cost as we get that anyway and euro cover is only £10 more than UK only cover.

Spends for food are similar to home as we self catering mainly and only eat out a few times. Toll costs are minimal too

We do big holidays every 5 years or so, last one to Orlando in 2016. Next big holiday planned for 2021.

We’re staying with family in Tokyo for 4 weeks. Don’t know how much we’ve spent on flights but free accommodation so yolo.

Two weeks in Rome, on my own, budget hotel with shared bathroom: £620. Flight £90 return. About £40 a day spending money: £560.

£600 for the ferry to France, then 2 weeks in my parents’ caravan, spending as little money as possibly whilst there! We are very lucky, I know.

We usually wouldn’t have such an expensive holiday now but we had a slight windfall. We do usually have a fair few wee breaks away but usually on a budget .

£850 for overnight ferry, 12 nights in an apartment on a farm in Northern Italy £890, £200 on overnight stops either way. That’s for 4 of us.

8.5k for six adults (dds all 17or older) for two weeks end of August beginning of September at neilson resort in Croatia.

Sometimes other trips during the year.
Might go skiing over New year but still thinking about it

I think if you have the money to spend then a holiday is a fantastic way to enjoy it! Why not?

We are a low income family so we are going on a weeks break to Haven, part funded by a children’s disability charity (ds has autism and learning disabilities and attends complex needs school). We are all looking forward to it. We have paid £200 towards it.

To be honest anyone having any holiday is doing pretty well compared to many people- we live in a fairy poor area and we are the only people that we know of that are going anywhere at all!

£1800 for 4 adults although 2 of the ‘adults’ are 15 and 14 Bet they won’t serve alcohol to them even after taking an adult price! Plus one child. Bed and breakfast, one week in Turkey. Plan on £800 spending money. Used Teletext.
