The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

@Sofialemon another Disney hater who did it, survived it, and even managed to enjoy it - a bit. We finally took the stand that we wanted to do it with our dc, it would be no fun to do it grudgingly and it was just one day out of our life. Stayed close to the park, got up early and just went for it.
Would I go again - truly hope not. Did I enjoy it - more than I had expected, and most importantly, it definitely was a highlight of dc's holiday.

Hi all. I have read all of these threads with interest. I must admit to be being very naive about it all before reading all your comments. Personally I think MOD is more transparent than a lot of the ‘wannabe’ accounts who just flaunt their free stuff and offer their followers a percentage of, a candle say, by using their special code. Would you all say this requires #ad? I feel maybe it does.
Anyway after seeing the story by that kelly bee woman I commented on her ‘perspective’ post. I stated that telling people ‘don’t worry be happy’ is not really the answer. I said that transparency is key and that due to her USP concentrating on mental health and wellness she should be aware that telling people to just get some perspective really doesn’t cut the mustard. Especially if she were to read these threads and see comments from those who do suffer from seeing the lives these women lead and then feel inferior. Of course the fan girls jumped to her defence- whatever. Kelly though did reply saying how she had suffered mental health issues and so she thinks people need to see the bigger picture yada yada yada. I then stated that if those suffering with mental health issues just need to ‘don’t worry be happy’ then surely they don’t need a full wellness journal (her product) surely just one page with that slogan printed on would suffice. She then replied with ‘go away you silly woman’ and then, despite saying she didn’t block people, she blocked me, ha! I logged in with a new account as I wanted to see what was being said about me without my ability to defend myself and she had deleted all of the interaction. There were numerous other posts questioning the message she was spouting and yet she hadn’t deleted them. Therefore I believe my comments were deleted because she called me a silly woman- the veil had lifted! It was made clear by that one comment that she was unable to really engage in any debate that couldn’t be solved by her saying- just don’t worry about it Hun think of the bigger picture. Anyway it worked her next post is welcoming all her new followers!
I think this really does show the clique that is ‘the popular girls’ of whom you cannot speak of in any way other than positively

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 09:14

@nipervest 🤣 Yes I worded that in a poor way, up with toddler. It was on a previous thread also. I was merely saying that you could no longer use socialblade to see how various social media accounts were trending and growing, and it looks like the change will be ongoing- or only open to businesses, not public. Just thought it was interesting.

PavlovaPrincess · 04/04/2018 09:21

@Doctorbubbles well done for questioning her. I have to say, I don't follow her (and never will now) but the story and posts she did really riled me.

I think the reason your post disappeared was because you were blocked though. When you block someone on IG, it deletes any previous interaction with the blocker/blockee.

MOD is definitely a lot more transparent these days and I think I can safely say that that's down to previous threads questioning her practices.

TheChocolateTeapot · 04/04/2018 09:26

@Doctorbubbles - that is shocking, and more so if it comes from someone professing to have an interest/experience in mental health issues. I think you are probably right about why she had to delete - not a good message for her followers! I had a look at her account on the back of this thread and she is another one who is still persisting in the notion that this whole ASA policy is a dull, tiresome trifle being promoted by jealous haters (my summary, not her words!). Just not professional.

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 09:27

Ah thanks for clearing that up for me, makes sense! I didn’t follow her, it was brought to my attention by another account. I just couldn’t believe the blasé attitude of it all. What was most unsettling were the fan girls who kept saying they really didn’t care about the whole #ad issue. I really think if they were to read these threads they would realise why they need to care! Just as the likes of MOD and MP, like you say thanks to these threads, have realised the importance of the transparency issue

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 09:28

Shocking isn’t it!

Sofialemon · 04/04/2018 09:29

@PavlovaPrincess

I thought her review was great, and probably more inline with what many parents taking small kids to any of the Disney resorts experience.

I hate queues, I hate the cheesiness and money grabbing commercialism that is Disney, but my husband loved it as a kid and wanted to take our children. The first time we took the 5 year old and left the baby with her grandparents. Imo trying to do Disney with a baby in tow would ruin it, and a baby gets no enjoyment from it.

I bet MOD got gifted all the extras, staying on site in one of the hotels you get the extra magic hours and extra fast passes, that's how we never queued. It takes what could be a horrendous experience to an enjoyable one. It is a lot more expensive though so obviously out of budget for many.

I'd live to see more balanced, honest reviews on insta, but while they're all being "gifted" these holidays that won't happen.

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 09:35

@doctorbubbles that is really interesting. I just had a look at that, seems extremely out of the character of the account to send messages like that and block you for disagreeing. Her message is very wishy washy and just trying to say there's worse things in the world, which of course there are, but it's hardly the point. Quite a few people have suggested it's not that hard to be open, she's saying it's obvious if something's gifted, but it isn't. Imalisonperry made a positive comment. It's interesting the girls club feeling about lots of these accounts, who all comment on each other's posts.

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 09:37

Yes @mumofkids I really admired Alison perry for her input

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 09:38

@pavlovaprincess blocking doesn't remove previous comments. Well it never used to. It's quite useful for someone doing the blocking because they and others can respond to comments but the blocked person cannot see them or respond themselves.

PavlovaPrincess · 04/04/2018 09:44

I had another quick look at that thread and I love that Alison Perry is trying to gently tell Kelly that she wrong while Kelly petulantly answers that 'she doesn't have the brain space' to deal with this sort of thing and it's up to ASA to tell bloggers why the rules are(!).

PavlovaPrincess · 04/04/2018 09:47

@Mumofkids no, it never used to but I'm pretty sure it does now (although I'm happy to proven wrong).

I had someone leave a rude comment on one of my pics one (nothing to do with transparency, I assure you Grin) and asked the person why they'd done it and they blocked me. All the comments disappeared, including my replies to them.

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 09:50

If you view MOD as a savvy instagrammer then she's one of the more open ones and doing absolutely amazingly in terms of offers/deals and ads. She's attractive and whilst her children feature they are not the sole focus. If you still view her as an NHS midwife then the account is severely lacking! She doesn't have the best way with words at times and I'd hope her paid management up their game and help her with that. If an Instagram business is what she was aiming for, you can't fault her achievement. It is a case of unfollow if you don't like what you see.
I've really had my eyes opened by these threads, and I do feel the intimate platform gives you a false sense of knowing these people. Like Sofia I have had correspondence with a few and they've in the whole been funny or pleasant. But I'm questioning why I contacted (it was quite some time ago) and think it is down to this sense of knowing them which is bizarre and a bit weird.

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 10:00

@pavlovaprincess that's interesting. I was blocked by an account once (completely by surprise as my question was genuine and not rude! And in relation to something they'd posted) and I was so surprised I had a look through my daughters account and it was still there.

kirinm · 04/04/2018 10:02

Pretty unimpressed by DLAM today. A free car with no AD and now blatantly after the 3 seater car seat thing. It's not the first time she's asked which indicates that she wasn't offered it the last time.

PavlovaPrincess · 04/04/2018 10:06

I've been pondering the removal of IG from Social Blade and I think it's more likely that they've done it because they want people to pay Instagram to advertise rather than the Grammer.

The algorithm has changed things to the point where, even if you have lots and lots of followers, a wide reach isn't guaranteed. Something like Social Blade would help companies with that but now it's gone.

Therefore if you pay Instagram itself to advertise, you can be guaranteed of your ad going straight to the top of everyone's feed.

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 10:07

@kirinm oh my goodness, that's such a blag as she's tried it before. Don't think she'd like my helpful advice, umm go to the shop and find 3 that fit alongside each other 🙄 Britax tend to do some narrow ones....

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 10:07

@mumofkids I also have had my eyes opened by these threads. It is done do very subtly that without such wise and insightful comments on here I would probably still be completely unaware! As I’ve said I think MOD has embraced what she has read on here. It is now the ones who wish to emulate her that need to follow suit. On so many pages I have seen comments which I find unsettling such as ‘you are simply amazing!’, ‘can I just be you’ and worst of all ‘you are my hero’- really?!?

PavlovaPrincess · 04/04/2018 10:09

@kirinm how on earth can DLAM say she's following ASA guidelines when she posts stuff like that on her feed?

Surely not even @Sofialemon can think that Mercedes have 'leant' them a car and said 'it's entirely up to you whether you feature it on your feed or not. And please tell your followers what you honestly think of it.'

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 10:13

@pavlovaprincess I’ve also just had a look- despicable. It is obviously an ad as she is describing all of its benefits. Because she hides it in ‘banter’ about drum and base and a shitty Skoda, those unaware of all this, probably don’t even realise she is selling!

nipersvest · 04/04/2018 10:14

I don't follow SV but took a look at the disney posts, felt a bit sorry for them, as parents we've most likely all had bad days out that have cost a small fortune, am glad she posted it like that to highlight the truth of the day. I've seen a few instagrammers visit disney on PR trips (MOFOD, Emma Hill), and make it look great, but the part some followers may not realise is a PR trip will come with all the extras no doubt, fast track entry to rides, even a personal guide.

LastDrWho · 04/04/2018 10:14

Grrr it's so blatant... yes I don't like it, yes I've unfollowed!

3asAbird · 04/04/2018 10:16

Why the heck woukd mercedes lend them a car if no agreed square and good reveiw.

Also shameless blagging she clearly wants a multimac gifted.
3carseats easily fit in most family people carriers.
3 seats fit easily in vw touran.
You can also buy narrower boosters.
What age are her kids?
Its 2nd stage that takes up the nost space.
