The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

I’m sure they do Cady, but the appearance it gave was of it being staged. That’s not a good look.

miamimice · 03/04/2018 18:28

They always find time to respond to other blogger comments! Quick like of my comment that I’ve gone to the effort of writing, that’s all i ask for #needy

puppower · 03/04/2018 18:33

Wow I didn’t realise it was so blatent!

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 18:39

@pavlovaprincess what would be nice is 'thanks so much for all your comments, the lovely people from Miele have been in contact after all your recommendations and offered me a washer and a dryer #trulygrateful as I can afford to buy them myself I've decided to do a collaboration with them and one of you guys can recommend a worthy friend who could really do with winning this fantastic offer!' 🤣 Yeah right. Dreamland.

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 18:39

On another earlier Instamum thread, either here or the Bloggers one on S+B, I made an 'oh look, she's sending out the 'can you give me recommendations for good dentists' when she appealed for dentists who did cosmetic procedures.. She was on it like shit on a shovelGrin, telling me slapping me down she was going to pay for her dental stuff just like she did for her dermatologist treatment.

The silence is deafening otherwise.

onemouseplace · 03/04/2018 18:40

I can remember the first time I was a bit Hmm about a blogger trying to blag something was when MOD was getting ready for some event (it may even have been her book launch) and tagged Spanx saying that she had forgotten hers. And they couriered a pair over to her hotel for her.

Now, that may have just been a brand doing something nice, but I think for me it was the tipping point for noticing these things and suddenly I started spotting them everywhere!

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 18:44

Were the Rigby and Peller bra fits a freebie? That was the defining moment I realised we were a truly different world. As I could not afford those post baby in a million years.

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 18:52

onemouse was that the Boden event last year by any chance?

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 19:01

The name the thread
‘Take down mod’

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 19:04

@mumofkids
She did an ad for Miele earlier this year she did thanks everyone for their comments and suggestions

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 19:09

allergy perhaps MoD seemed the most relatable to a lot of mums, she is very popular as a result of being an NHS Midwife and using that as a USP.

To then become a Sales women for any brand offering a ££ sign at her means she's going to be up for prolonged discussion.

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 19:10

Yeah, after the machines had been installed and no mention of them being free at that time.

The machine was an ad what was gifted?

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 19:16

The washer and dryer were gifted.

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 19:18

I was wrong she did actually thank people. On the #ad when she finally received what she's been fishing for Hmm

Going back to fake followers, I saw this really interesting blog written by a blogger about fake followers. I'm surprised Instagram tolerates it really (it must help their own stats I suppose in some way). Trip Advisor has pretty strict policies around fake reviews (they obviously recognise it as not being in the consumer interest) but it seems Instagram is happy to let it slide.

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 19:23

@pavlovaprincess well spotted.

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 19:24

Ok let me get this straight.

A bloggers washing machine and dryer breaks she ask her followers who are probably mostly women for a recommendation. A top brand get in touch and offer her two for free. She does the ad and declares it an ad.

I also recal her doing a event at Rigby & Peller so generating lots of pr for that brand for free. They gift her a bra she talks about how great they are (I have one from my wedding they are seriously amazing btw) and declares it an add.

Now am I missing the point but isn’t this thread mostly about transparency????? The woman can do no right to you lot Confused

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 19:27

Did anyone read this story about a fake restaurant? The advice video is pretty funny apparently fake reviews happen all the time on trip advisor

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/the-shed-at-dulwich-was-london-s-top-rated-restaurant-just-one-problem-it-didn-t-exist-a8107791.html%3famp

miamimice · 03/04/2018 19:33

Yes I mentioned trip advisor also has an issue with fake reviews. Twitter has bots. Facebook fake profiles. So much fakery. The social media giants don’t seem to want to know.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 03/04/2018 19:33

But of a tangent, but why do people message women about their kids, some people have obviously expressed concern that the frugality’s little girl isn’t wearing socks, and she has addressed it in her instastories. I’d be really pissed off if people sent messages like that.

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 19:36

Because there’s always someone out there concerned about how other people parent/live their lives/decorate their homes/spend their money Hmm

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 19:37

@allaboardtheallergybus the thread is about being fed up of instamums, I guess she cops a lot of flack as one of the bigger accounts and so many ads and products. I have just had a look back and many items I never noticed have an #ad or #gifted by these bypassed me at the time and I did feel duped.
I also did follow for the midwifery. So there are a lot of brands that don't seem to be fully disclosed, but many of the items I wondered, in retrospect were #ads
I'm sure she doesn't give a monkeys, she's doing very well. And my issue was use of kids to sell, I became more interested in the ad side. And it is wrong for it to be so unnoticeable but that's Instagrams fault not hers.
Personally I think the blagging is vile. But doesn't need a whole thread. Just all stinks that it was always all about the money and the freebies.
