The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

That’s a funny article Allergy. Fascinating how quickly he went from the fake listing to top of the rankings, and samples being sent to him!

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 19:39

Because there’s always someone out there concerned about how other people parent/live their lives/decorate their homes/spend their money

This entire forum would die a slow, painful death if no one was concerned with any of that Wink

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 03/04/2018 19:40

I’d be really annoyed allergy, I think it’s really out of order.

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 19:48

Caroline Hiron’s has just named a woman who likened her to a car salesman flogging stuff and said the amount of free skincare she received hasn’t done her any favours skin care wise .

CH then added if she gets abuse on her account that’s her problem.

Caroline seems a bit touchy .

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 19:49

Ronaldo.

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 19:50

sorry that wasn’t meant for here.

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 19:56

Ugh, how is it the woman's fault if she gets abuse when she DM'd CH?

There was no need to broadcast it all over her stories for everyone to see. Setting all her followers on her makes her just as bad. Although why anyone would give an anonymous stranger a load of abuse on behalf of a blogger they've never met is beyond me.

(That's not to say the woman was right in sending that message, but fgs!)

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 03/04/2018 19:58

Well, Denise is only saying what thousands of others think! It’s much discussed on beauty groups. I actually do quite like CH, but I’ve read numerous comments like that elsewhere.

CadyHeron · 03/04/2018 19:59

Now am I missing the point but isn’t this thread mostly about transparency????? The woman can do no right to you lot

EXACTLY! Grin
I made the exact same point a while back, can't do right whatever they do.

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 20:02

Caroline has a very thin skin if that comment caused her to name and shame like that. It was factual and her opinion albeit negative and no vicious name calling either.

miamimice · 03/04/2018 20:07

Blagging is about transparency though. It’s about whether the request for recommendations is real or whether it’s a ruse to make followers feel valued or creating engagement when you may already have a deal in place with a brand. (I’m not saying that’s what happened in that situation but clearly there is a perception that this is sometimes happening, rightly or wrongly)

peneleope82 · 03/04/2018 20:08

I hate it when people are branded trolls for expressing a different opinion to someone.

Ironically something that has gone on a fair amount on this thread...Grin

CadyHeron · 03/04/2018 20:11

If you send out messages out like -
who likened her to a car salesman flogging stuff and said the amount of free skincare she received hasn’t done her any favours skin care wise
then that's veering off criticism and just having a personal dig and entering trolling behaviour.
I think some people must genuinely struggle with the difference.
She called it out. Good for her.
"Setting her followers on her" - Hmm a very bizarre turn of phrase, as if there's a lot of followers, it'll stand to reason that some will think it unnecessary too and say so.

CadyHeron · 03/04/2018 20:12

There's a difference between offering constructive criticism and having a personal dig.

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 20:14

@cadyheron
A) you never provided any actual info regarding that
B) you haven't been a follower of these discussed accounts
C) by no means are all items tagged or gifted
That's not to say the focus should solely be on one grammer (but my god has that one person milked the products) but actually what allergy did in the end instead of just telling everyone off was contribute.

I can still feel duped, and still feel my follow was for the midwifery but I almost wonder (not accusing just find it so hard to believe it was so unnoticeable) whether some of those have been added with hindsight to avoid issues with ASA. I am not being slanderous, I am just baffled that it was so off my radar. The holidays however are not ad just tags as are quite a few other things.
So no full about turn, but thanks allergy for actually adding something.

CadyHeron · 03/04/2018 20:16

There's an awful lot of double standards in a statement such as why would anyone give an anonymous stranger abuse on behalf of a blogger when at the same time thinking there's nothing wrong with someone sending abuse to a blogger.
It is exactly the same thing. You don't know those people either. They're strangers.

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 20:16

God me too Abucktooth it’s kind of ironic though.

Parenting divides us all thefrugality is a new mum probably feeling a bit vulnerable as we all did in the begining so felt she needed to show that her baby does wear socks. Although we all know that they never stay on and are waste of money until they can wear shoes

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 20:16

It's at time like this and 'ignore' function would come in really handy on MN.

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 20:17

My last post didn't make much sense, but I'm sure you get the gist.

HolyMountain · 03/04/2018 20:20

To my knowledge no abuse has been sent to IGer’s mentioned on this thread . Questions about how they see their Instagram working with free gifts and their children , no abuse.

PositiveProton · 03/04/2018 20:23

I have no idea what the point of this thread is, but the general feeling I'm getting is that people are upset about bloggers/vloggers getting paid to advertise and not disclosing it.
I don't personally care really. It's obvious that influencers aren't the "average" person. They're like models and z list celebrities who get paid to do what they do.

Has someone mentioned that possibly sometimes the influencers do "pay" for the product but use a very generous discount voucher so they don't have to state that it's an ad? That might be why sometimes #ad isn't there.

Anyway, I'm getting some serious "Guru Gossip" vibes here. I remember stumbling upon the "Trash A Guru" forum once and the hatred and foaming at the mouth was pretty intense.

By the way I'm not some influencer minion. I follow AMR, but that's about it.

Areyouinthegame · 03/04/2018 20:23

Beauty companies and paid bloggers ate just cons. Everyone know spots are caused by hormonal imbalances and no cream is ever gonna take away wrinkles and make you look like a baby again. To keep telling there's a new miracle cream or potion is hilarious.

CadyHeron · 03/04/2018 20:23

Also an incredible amount of irony in that on here, hearing a viewpoint different to your own that you don't like, you come out with "an ignore would help" after berating IGers for doing the exact same thing.
I'm not even resorting to insults. Just pointing something out.

miamimice · 03/04/2018 20:27

@Positiveproton, if you have received a discount voucher that is not the sort of discount voucher that your Ordinary Jane on the street gets then you have received a payment in kind. That falls firmly within the ASA rules if the brand has any degree of control over the content. And should have an AD tag. That's exactly the kind of skirting around the rules that this thread is addressing.

miamimice · 03/04/2018 20:30

I agree @areyouinthegame. Genetics and lifestyle factors (cutting back on wine o clock for example) will affect your skin more than a £50 face cream.
