The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

Booie - it's not forced to be an ad though in that respect.
Is it not the same as say, someone tagging themselves as on holiday like they do on Facebook - it's not always forced to be an ad.
Obviously yes, sometimes it will be,but people do say go on holiday and just tag the resort in to say that's where they're going and how nice it is.
No payment, colab, sponsorship or anything,
Suppose all they can do though to keep the avid watchers happy is hashtag everything that isn't #ScarfFromNext #AllMyOwn #NotSponsored #NotAnAd under everything that isn't.

TheChocolateTeapot · 03/04/2018 10:07

I do wonder when I look at MOFOD - they have a very clear storyboard of vignettes of their life (from the cringe-inducing men's face creams to the trampoline). All designed to look spontaneous but I have visions of them planning this round their kitchen table days, weeks, months in advance.

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 10:18

@thechocolateteapot dear god do you remember the surprise shutters? When he fitted them and had the camera ready for her reaction. She ran in and threw her arms around him like a toddler, I fucking love them Simon! All spontaneous of course. Not staged of course.
I think you're right. It's all just BS.

TheChocolateTeapot · 03/04/2018 10:21

...... I am endlessly bewildered and clearly hugely cynical that people actually fall for it. I do come from a marketing background so I suppose I am a little more aware of it but nonetheless.........

Areyouinthegame · 03/04/2018 10:23

They need to get a TV show...... Hanging out with the Hoopers Grin ....... coming to a screen near you in 2019

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 10:32

@areyouinthegame - you've said it now! Argh that'll be the next thing! He'll think he's Will Smith 🤦🏻‍♀️
@thechocolateteapot I'm just way too gullible. Why would anyone go to all that trouble... so boring. But of course 💰 💰💰

The comments of her followers are interesting. After being noted on here as not being happy, they wrote cutest little messages on a post (🤢) who wouldn't private message that?! Cue all the 'such an amazing couple' comments.
But then a comment said they hoped Simon would get a break. And Clemmie commented I owe him big time... followed by loads of he's their dad, he's not babysitting, you had 2 kids and were solo parenting while working (🤣🤣🤣)
I mean he got left in cold Kent with 2 toddlers, whilst she went on a holiday with 2 easy kids. Just ridiculous. But the fangirls all got her back because she was working.

For us as well, bless her.

Good job we have humour in this life!

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 10:43

Popped back to see if anything contructive had been made in the last 2 days I case you k ow I’d missed anything life changing ... same 2 arguments ads and the use of the kids

BUT you still can’t help yourself, cynical, nasty, twisted comments about other people but it’s just your opinion so that’s fine. But is it? Is it really? You invest so much time slagging off these people you must be exhausted coming up with your next comment, planning it for hours. You probably spend more time on here trying to sound articulate than the people mentioned spend time posting not their feed.

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 10:52

I really don't understand how some posters on here can manage to get so irate and worked up on behalf of people they've never met and who don't even know they exist.

Utterly baffling.

Keep fighting the good fight though allergy

Areyouinthegame · 03/04/2018 10:55

Its due to the faux intamacy. I think they got really sucked in. They think they are friends. @pavlovaprincess.

TheChocolateTeapot · 03/04/2018 11:03

allergy - oh well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree then! But nice of you to pop back and check up on us anyway.

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 11:05

Same could be said for the hours people on these threads spending slagging off sorry discussing peoples lives

Pot kettle black?

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 11:07

@allaboardtheallergybus needs to grow a sense of humour and stop trying to tell everybody off!
You didn't come back to check the thread 🤣🤣 you came back to do your daily post a load of nonsense then not reply to anyone till you come back tomorrow and do the same. Must be fun plotting your next put down for 24 hours, haven't you got anything better to do?

TheChocolateTeapot · 03/04/2018 11:12

...... and do you know what I find nasty and cynical? Well - since you are about to ask in the spirit of an even debate, that's building some kind of construct of a perfect, envy-inducing world which encourages people to buy things they don't need or feel bad if they can't. I cringe to hear some of the Insta stories my dc share - and particularly the pressure it puts on teenage girls. So, yes, you keep checking back and I'll keep voicing my opinion.

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 11:22

@thechocolateteapot I agree with you it just seems pointless trying to communicate with allergy, she doesn't even remotely want to engage, it's just that whole superiority thing she has. Even when she's been wrong, she just leaves it a few hours to drop down the thread, then comes back and tries to insult someone else.
Personally I don't want my girls buying into the fakeness and consumerism. Even those points I listed above, no I don't think it's fair because she was 'working' and having seen her previously moan like hell when he was away working, despite him not ever doing the sane to her It doesn't seem it's equal respect at all.
My husband and I are a team with our children. And yes if she takes the older 2 off for a week in a resort, he should have the opportunity to do the same, does he not need the connection with the 2 children? This faux feminism really grates and I want my teenagers to continue to be caring and fair. I'm glad you made me realise it's all fake. I can't believe that even after all these threads I'm still unsure.

CadyHeron · 03/04/2018 11:43

I think the ones who can't see the irony are the ones who genuinely think they're mates. They're sucked in. Backwards and forwards to watch then back here. Did you see, did you see? What's she like? Loser. Etc. It shines a window into the obsession. It's bizarre.

Areyouinthegame · 03/04/2018 11:43

Thanks to this thread I've deleted Instagram. Its been good knowing that many others can see the through the smoke and mirrors created by Instagram. Its all so contrived. Just bad for the mind. And we don't even realise how it affects us. Like a slow growing cancer. It causes us to question ourselves and strive for something out of reach. Drawing us into a illusion, making people feel dissatisfied and unworthy if we can't keep up with all the holidays and free stuff given to them. This over consumption only makes the fat cats fatter. And the rest at the bottom left with scraps. Fortunately I'm not at the bottom. I hope we can protect our children from the many harms caused by social media now and in the future.

allaboardtheallergybus · 03/04/2018 11:43

@mumofkids
I don’t find your comments funny and I’m not sure those mentioned on here do either. It’s bullying dressed up as a discussion you bullied Cady off from here too for opposing your opinions - and I’m not just aiming this at you it’s to the other profilific commenters too

CadyHeron · 03/04/2018 11:43

Light not window.

Areyouinthegame · 03/04/2018 11:45

Cady is still here.... Hmm

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 11:52

@allergy you can 'see' it however you want. You are clearly far more invested in the thread than you make out. Cady certainly seems to still be here and things tend to go full circle and you find yourself agreeing on points. I'm genuinely sorry if it appeared as bullying (not to you but to Cady or anyone reading who perceived it as that) but there was a stage where it felt stifled. Sorry @cadyheron if that's how you felt.
@allergy there is humour on these threads, and if you don't get it that's not my problem. It's not all evil, planned critical comments and to suggest so is ridiculous. If you meant the instagrammers not finding it funny, then really? you just seem to be another person who hasn't yet realised that all these accounts are businesses and you're not making any difference trying to stop discussion of how they are conducted.

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 11:53

@allaboardtheallergybus speaking of adding anything constructive to the discussion, is there anything you'd like to say about the instamums? Or are you more concerned with pretending to claim the moral high ground, whilst calling everyone cynical, nasty and inarticulate?

PavlovaPrincess · 03/04/2018 11:58

@Areyouinthegame it's a shame that you've deleted IG, but completely understandable.

I said it before, but it didn't used to be like this. IG started off primarily as photo sharing app, that was focused on photography. You followed people's whose photos you wanted to see and that was it.

There was genuine conversation on there, and it wasn't all about who had the most likes, followers, comments (although it was bit Wink). Nobody was trying to sell you anything at every turn. It's kind of exhausting these days. I hate what it's turned into.

RunMummyRun68 · 03/04/2018 11:58

areyouinthegame

Yep,she is! As always

The instamums however, seem awfully quiet at the moment..... like the calm before the storm or something...

Mumofkids · 03/04/2018 11:59

@cadyheron I don't think it is obsession. It's just like trashy tv or a magazine. And the algorithms do place certain people in your feeds in a certain order. On top of that as you scroll down in the comments under posts often responses that the original poster has made are the ones they show. You don't have to go trawling through loads of posts to find them. If I open Instagram FOD Is often one of the top ones promoted. In the past ive related to his posts about kids and commented so I guess that pushes him higher up.
On an interesting note regarding the cliques and little groups, themotherofalladventures has posted some pretty cryptic stories today about being snubbed by other grammers etc so it is clearly something that affects these accounts.

I am sorry if I came across as a bully, there is no tone to text and it's often tricky for people like me who do not plan things way in advance and can be quite sarcastic as a humour thing, probably works better in person! But did not mean to offend.
