To think Mumsnet is OBSESSED

I used to read Mumsnet because it was a lot of clever, funny women talking about stuff I was interested in, but it's become a one issue forum. It's exhausting.

people are allowed to discuss stuff, mumsnet deletes anything agianst their talk guidelines. If one does not like it then choose another thread, or start a thread of your own.

there are threads I hide as they are upsetting. then I do not accidently click on them again.

Maryz looks like it to me.

Charlie, if that is true that's pretty chilling.

MNHQ please do not delete this thread, we need to show silencers for what they are. Silencing huge swathes of a protected group (the female sex is a protected characteristic) is despicable.

Charlie - Yeah - the push for children to trans-identify just because they are non-gender conforming is a real worry. Kids can be non-gender conforming. It doesn't mean they have to identify as the opposite sex.

Puberty blockers, sex hormones for the rest of their life, surgeries, infertility. It's not a decision a child should make. For puberty blockers to be effective, surely they must be taken by about 12yrs old? And they are not always completely reversible, as the trans lobby would have you believe.

Please please leave this thread standing MN, it highlights exactly how any debate tries to be shut down. Just keep the deleted posts deleted and the thread intact. There's a lot of important stuff on this thread.

Mrsramsayscat · 23/03/2018 00:07

Charlie, I agreed all that is worrying.

ANightWatcher · 23/03/2018 00:07

The 'post hidden' message comes up when one of the Night Watch hide a posters message

Djnoun · 23/03/2018 00:08

I don't even have a fucking twitter!!!

Bejazzled · 23/03/2018 00:09

@ANightWatcher Can't you just suspend the suspect poster....please

NoqontroI · 23/03/2018 00:09

Ooops. Didn't realize. Feel a bit silly now. BlushGrin

Terftastic I should add that I am assuming this person had a GRC and didn't just self-id to the doctor's, but the paperwork said female and the receptionist only knew because the person was clearly a male expressing fem. None of the researchers actually met their subjects (diagnosis was meant to be only from the blood test), so they couldn't have known.

This happened a few years ago now but it caused such serious problems, it was one of the first things DH discussed with me when he finally understood about self-id. It's pretty easy to imagine the confusion a badly thought out self-id law can cause in this particular area.

PositivelyPERF · 23/03/2018 00:10

NoqontroI 🤣

Terftastic · 23/03/2018 00:10

I've just reported Djnoun and asked that this thread not be deleted. There is a fair bit of sensible debate on here - and I wouldn't want to see that gone because of the actions of a single poster.

I've seen threads before where people have tried to post multiple repeat posts to shut down a discussion - but the thread has stayed. So, fingers crossed.

It is an excellent example of how debate is shut down - when it's women trying to debate on the rights of women.

ANightWatcher · 23/03/2018 00:10

Bejazzled Sadly not. Even powers to suspend for a few hours would be great.

Do feel free to suggest it in Site Stuff though 😉

Ah I see, so was it just more of the "you shut up because I say so" stuff. I agree, please leave this thread to stand, shows the mindset and technique employed in trying to silence women.
